Christmas is even more exciting than usual for me this year because I get to share it with a new addition to the family, my son. I cannot wait until he is old enough that I can see the wonder and excitement in his eyes when he gets to come downstairs and believe that Santa has come all this way, landed on our roof and squeezed his jolly self down the chimney into our living room, to leave him gifts that the elves worked so hard to make for him.
I remember when I was a child how I used to sneak down the stairs before I woke my parents to see if Santa had come. I still remember to this day, the tree and presents would just sparkle with magic. There would be this enchanted feeling in my living room; I would be captivated with delight, believing that something truly miraculous had just happened.
I want Ethan to experience that too. I think a child’s imagination should be huge and full possibilities. I will share with Ethan that the world is magical, full of mystery, and that good things happen to those who are good and kind all year round!
Sugar-plums dancing in his head already
I think sharing holiday traditions, or any traditions for that matter, with your children is a wonderful thing. My husband is Persian so Ethan is lucky enough to learn about more than just my traditions, he gets to learn about his Persian traditions as well. I look forward to our family learning how to blend all the cultural differences.
I am also looking forward to teaching him about love, family and giving. I have already bought Ethan a present. I got him a nightlight from Babies“R”Us by Cloud B – Twilight Buddies – the giraffe version. He is not old enough to appreciate this night light that puts the constellations on the ceiling, but I can! So secretly I guess Ill be enjoying this present, until he can.
What do you buy a baby for Christmas? Ethan will be about 6 months by Christmas, according to baby development he should be;
- Exploring more with his hands and learning to crawl: So maybe toys that he can pick up and put down, or be inspired to crawl towards.
- Learning how to eat solid foods: You can’t have enough bibs, or investing in baby spoons to help with the introduction to food adventure.
- Baby should be babbling away: New books to read together at night, to help develop and learn language.
What do I want for Christmas? Well I already have everything I need, my new bundle has brought me so much joy, my heart is currently full. There is no material possession that could replace this feeling.
Tip for new moms:
Buying baby clothes is a blast; I swear my son looks better than I do on a daily basis. It is true what they say, always buy “up” in baby clothes. When Ethan was newborn he rapidly started to fit into 1 month old clothing, he is currently 3 months old but wearing 6-9 month old clothing. I am not a baby clothing expert, but I can say confidently do not overbuy a bunch of clothing for each stage, they just grow too fast, I am already packing away baby clothes.
