Blog: Package Deals – gb Evoq Stroller Travel System Review By »

January 25th, 2017

I really want to appear that I have everything under control when I take Ethan out but most of the time I feel like I have a stamp on my head saying “new mom in progress.” If you ask me to prepare a presentation, or write a 15 page essay, I’ll have it done in a day. You ask me to put together a car seat, stroller or some other baby device, I’ll wonder where I have been the last 31 years, nobody ever told me I would feel like an amateur at every stop, and a week later I might figure out how to recline the darn thing.

I have had a few occasions where I have been struggling to get my old stroller together, then on top of that I have had a screaming baby wondering what on earth I am doing, why and why are we still sitting here. Those dreaded pulling the bulky contraption out of the car and setting it up situations can be stressful for any new mom. And then alas, Babies“R”Us sent me the Evoq to test out and I’m loving it! This stroller works like a breeze!

I had taken the Evoq out for a test spin and forgot the manual (mistake #1) and now I had to take it out of the truck, and put it together. I took my trusty far away parking spot so I could look like a newbie mom without an audience, and away I went. I took a deep breath and went to pull the Evoq out of my trunk. To my surprise what an EASY AND STRESS FREE experience!

The Evoq is marvelous, and did wonders for my ego. I pulled the Evoq out and it glided together with no issues. You literally just have to slide up on the handles and the whole system “pops” up, the stroller does the work for you. Now I needed it to be front facing (it has to be facing away from you to close up the stroller) so I looked at the stroller, I could see that there were 2 levers on either side of the stroller base. I pulled up and the whole thing slid out with no problem. I swapped it around, slide the levers back in, and now I was front facing. NO MANUAL NEEDED. This was a success story. I snapped Ethan into the easy peasy harness system, and away we went.

The stroller is not heavy, which was great; I didn’t become a sweaty mess trying to lift it out of the car (unlike other strollers I have tried) so this is a nice perk to an already exhausted mom. If you want to do less shopping, opt for a travel system for an all-in-one package deal. These types of stroller systems offer multiple age stages starting from newborn, all the way through toddler. Once I got home I did a thorough manual reading session (recommended) to fully understand all the great features this stroller system has to offer.

What I liked about this stroller:

Deep bucket seat: Ethan is sitting up sturdy and able to see everything that is going on, the foot rest moves so you can adjust it as your child grows.

The large storage compartment underneath: This has to be one the largest storage areas I have seen on a stroller. It is wide and deep, giving lots of space for purses, diaper bags, and a few shopping bags.

You can recline the stroller seat all the way back for nap times: This makes the stroller the perfect shopping companion! You don’t need to worry about how you are going to be getting baby down for a nap as the stroller helps with this and combined with the large canopy, it works like a charm! I used this when I was shopping at the mall with Ethan and when it was his nap time, and I simply reclined the stroller seat all the way back, and pulled the canopy over him and he fell right asleep. There is a small slit area that you are able to stick your hand in if you need to check in on baby. You can also unzip the canopy and have a mesh area to see baby as well and for excellent airflow.

The handle bar for the stroller is adjustable to work with different heights.

The harness straps are super easy to set up and adjust and baby seems very secure once snapped into the crotch buckle, the harness comes with plush wraps that you can add on.

It has a cup holder so I can still treat myself to a latté at the mall when we’re out and about together.

Cool Feature: The glide-on-board! This is a stand at the back where a toddler can stand when they are in the walking stage – and want out of the stroller for a bit – they can hang onto the handles while staying close to you. I thought this unique, a feature I haven’t seen yet on a stroller.

In all my reviews, I try to offer a downside to the product to keep my reviews as honest as possible… but for this stroller I cannot find anything that I didn’t like! The product is a wonderful choice for any parent, and the stroller is easy to use, sturdy and stylish and has its own unique features.

The Car Seat

This travel system comes with a rear-facing infant car seat that has the ability to be snapped onto the stroller. This is very convenient so you do not have to be moving baby out of the car seat and re-seating them into the stroller (who wants to wake a sleeping baby!). Ethan is old enough now that I use the infant car seat for the car, but I take him out of the car seat and use the front-facing stroller seat option as he is now at the age he likes to be watching the scene around us.

The car seat is super plush and does come with an infant insert if needed. I liked how the car seat has a narrower shape, as Ethan falls asleep in the car, he is able to rest his head on the cushioned sides.

The car seat is lightweight and you know once it is secure as you will hear the snap. It is always good to double check the car seat is secure, I always try to wiggle it to make sure. Nothing wrong with double checking for baby’s safety!

Strolling in Style

Tip for new moms:

For any mom on the go a good thing to have is a bottle warmer. I received one for Christmas, and I didn’t realize what I was missing until I got one. There are many different types you can get, the one I have plugs into my car adapter and warms bottle in minutes. Warm milk is better than cold milk!
