Blog: gb X1 Urban Runner Jogging Stroller

The gb X1 Urban Runner Jogging Stroller is a bit of a mouthful to say, but has been an incredible addition to our growing fleet of baby pushing apparatus.

I wasn’t sure about a jogging stroller at first. I like running, but had been out of it for awhile and the thought of hauling myself and a 25lb wiggly creature around the neighbourhood at high rates (let’s be honest, medium rates) of speed seemed a little daunting.

My fears turned out to be unfounded. The stroller glides so easily, and the large wheels and cushy suspension really easily turned me into that dad that runs around the neighbourhood with his daughter yelling “faster daddiiieeee!!”. Until she decides she prefers going slow…because toddlers….

The option to lock or unlock the front wheel means that you can use the stroller for everyday getting around as well, although I will say doesn’t handle quite as smoothly as a purpose built every day stroller would, but it’s more than good enough to add some value to this great jogging stroller.

The other area that had me a little concerned was the braking. This stroller has a bar that runs the length of the handle that you just squeeze to brake, which is convenient for quick stops on the run, but doesn’t seem quite as sturdy as some of the foot brakes out there.

The Bio-Flex shock absorbers and large wheels are a big plus however. Between that and the comfy seat padding,  it’s so comfortable that our little ball of energy sometimes falls asleep during a jog once she’s done pointing out all of the airplanes and dogs that she sees.  The suspension system means that it does well for any off-roading baby adventures you may be on too, like trekking across fields to go to the playground, going for a hike through a forest or navigating over snow and ice covered sidewalks in winter. Most joggers aren’t too heavy, but compared to others we’ve tried, the Urban Runner is the front runner. It is incredibly lightweight which makes it great for jogging with any sized tiny human, but also easier when hauling in and out of the trunk or up and down stairs. We’ve found it is easy to fold up and take on the go whenever we need to head out, and it is compact and light enough that we store it folded up hanging on a hook on the wall of our garage.

Other added bonuses for this model are the sun shade that covers well from both sun, wind, and the odd rain shower that comes up when jogging (and it has a peek-a-boo window so you can see what trouble your toddler is getting into…or you know…play peek-a-boo), and the adjustable handle bar for when my wife wants to take it out for a spin (she’s a foot shorter than me so this has always been an important requirement on our list).  We’re also a fan of the neutral gray and teal colours.

Ultimately if you’re looking for a lightweight jogging stroller with a ton of other great and practical features, the gb X1 Urban Runner Jogging stroller is the way to go…even if you can’t say it 5 times fast.
