Blog: It’s a Jumper meets an Exerciser – The Disney Finding Nemo Sea of Activities Jumper

My favourite sounds are Callum’s laughs, squeals and shrieks of delight.  I could honestly listen to them for hours; they make my heart swell to the point of it bursting and put a permanent grin on my face.

Disney Finding Nemo Sea of Activities JumperSo when I first put him in the Disney Finding Nemo Sea of Activities Jumper and I heard his very high pitch scream of joy I was sold.

This is the best of both worlds for kids – an exerciser that’s also a jumper which adds up to hours of fun!

The Disney Finding Nemo Sea of Activities Jumper product description says this – (for those whose children have yet to demand Finding Nemo play 24/7 I’ve included pictures of the characters for you)

  • Includes 13+ engaging toys & activities for your little adventurer!
  • The Nemo Nemorollerball inspires baby’s senses with lights, melodies, rattling beads and all your favorite Nemo characters.
  • Bruce Brucethe friendly shark is a ratchet toy with a mouthful of colorful beads.
  • Squirts Squirtsinteractive tummy has keys that light up and play ocean-themed tunes.
  • A perky puffer fish Puffer Fish includes a mirror for self-discovery alongside a toy tray and starfish-shaped Starfishteether
  • Mr. Ray Mr Raycompletes the ocean ambience and Tad  Tadand Pearl Pearlcharacters are removable for take-a-long fun.
  • A spinning SheldonSheldon toy and bead chaser Dory  Doryround out the cast of beloved Nemo characters!
  • The high seat back provides extra support for your baby and with a seat that rotates 360 degrees, there’s ocean fun in every direction!
  • Four height adjustment options are available to grow with baby.

The description sounds wonderful, and come on its Finding Nemo – how much cuter does it really get?

So how did it really stack up?

What I liked!

It’s adorable! Bright colours, loveable characters and its sea themed.

Assembly. It was easy to put together and the instructions weren’t complicated. It all clicks together easily (and no muscle was required).  Additionally, if you do get confused on which character goes where you can look at the picture on the front of the box it comes in.

It grows with baby! With four different height adjustments it grows with your child, extending the hours of play and usage your child can get out of it.

Price point. At $179.99 its priced similarly to other models on the market, but as a bonus it’s both a jumper and activity center, which a lot of other models do not offer.

Activities! There is lots to keep children at all stages entertained. Like I said, this grows with your child.  What I found with Callum was that his interests with the characters and the jumper have changed as he’s grown.  When I first got the jumper he was about 4 months old and was interested more in the mirror of the puffer fish and lights of Nemo and Squirt than anything else; as he’s gotten older (he’s now 7 months) he’s more interested in jumping and doing 360’s in the chair than he is with the characters and what they do.

It’s a jumper! Don’t get me wrong I love our Jolly Jumper (we have the one that hangs in the door frame), but it can be difficult to get Callum into it sometimes – especially if he’s squirmy. This activities jumper, is the perfect alternative to the Jolly Jumper.  It may not let him bounce as high, but he still gets to bounce and it’s so much easier to get him into this than the Jolly Jumper.

What could be improved?

While this activities jumper claims to have 13+ activities to keep you child entertained, a lot of the ‘activities’ are quite minimal. With the exception of Nemo and Squirt’s activities, the other characters aren’t all that interactive; for example the Sheldon toy which claims to spin, only rocks back and forth, it does not fully spin. While the minimal movement of characters was a non-issue when Callum was younger, as the puffer fish mirror entertained him for hours, as he’s gotten older he has lost interest in the minimal interaction of some of the characters, and had it not been for the jumper aspect of this activities centre which has kept him entertained, I think he would have already outgrown the activities centre.

Let me state one thing on the record, my son is a BUSY BODY. The more interactive a toy is, and the more he can move around the longer it last around our house. That being said, I’m predicting the Disney Finding Nemo Sea of Activities Jumper still has a long life in our home. (I’m predicting this based on the fact that Callum has been jumping in it for the last half hour and shows no signs of slowing down.)

This is a great buy for anyone looking for a product that will grow with, stimulate and entertain the children in your life. It’s priced right, is durable, and can really be considered a 2-in-1 which is excellent for your wallet!

Parent tip: activity centres, jumpers, and play mats can be expensive and bulky.  Save money and space by looking for options that grow with your child.
