Blog: Your Baby’s Domain – The Nursery – Lambs & Ivy Signature Goodnight Sheep 4 Piece Bedding Set & Mobile

With us, as is true with most new parents, setting up the nursery can be the most exciting and one of the most stressful times when preparing for your baby’s arrival. You want everything to be perfect, from the paint colour, to the furniture and décor to the stuffed animals and books, everything is arranged perfectly, waiting to welcome your little one home.

For me, choosing the paint colour wasn’t the hard part, we knew we wanted to do a neutral grey colour; we didn’t know if we were having a boy or a girl, so we figured a neutral colour would give us lots of options for accent colours once baby arrived. We had decided to accent with white and navy regardless of gender and to add pink accents as well if it was a girl.

Next up, choosing a crib, again this wasn’t too hard for us, we spent some time perusing our options, looking for the best deals, and contemplating styles and colours, but we always ended coming back to the Baby Cache Windsor Lifetime Crib. I loved the elegant design, the light grey colour, and most of all we loved that it would grow with our baby straight through to the teenage years.

Now on to bedding and décor. Here’s where I really started to become overwhelmed and for the first time realized I was nesting. There were so many adorable themes and patterns to choose from, how was one to decide. And truth be told, I didn’t really end up deciding. I was gifted pieces of the Lambs & Ivy mix and match selections, including a mobile featuring elephants, and various sheets at my baby shower, and this is when my love affair with Lambs & Ivy began.

Let me briefly explain the Lambs & Ivy brand and why I love their product:

1. They make extremely adorable bedding and décor. Some of the collections they feature are the Goodnight Sheep, Oceania Aquatic, Love Heart and Tanzania Safari.

2. The quality of their products is superior. I’ve had some of their sheets and bedding for almost a year now, and it hasn’t frayed, stained, or become pilled from wear and tear. (And I have a very active little boy that has put this bedding through the ringer.)

Recently, I was given the Lambs & Ivy Signature Goodnight Sheep 4 Piece Bedding Set & Mobile, and without fail, this collection kept my love affair right on going.

Included in the bedding set were:

Comforter

Two fitted sheets

16” dust ruffle

The neutral grey colours of this collection complimented our nursery perfectly and Callum loves the sheep. He points and giggles at them constantly. Though he’s still too young to fully appreciate the joy one gets from cozying into bed with a comforter, I’m sure when we are able to transition him into a bed he will adore his comforter.

As a parent having two fitted sheets included is amazing, and I’ll tell you why. I was given this advice from a sales associate at the Babies “R” Us location in Barrie, ON, and it was and continues to be the best advice I ever received.

She informed me to purchase a mattress cover, which gives a little extra cushion for your baby and at least two mattress pads and two fitted sheets. (The mattress pads protect the mattress cover and the mattress from getting wet or stained in the event of any ‘accidents.’) She then told me to layer the mattress cover, pads and fitted sheets as follows: mattress cover, mattress pad, fitted sheet, mattress pad, and fitted sheet. At first I thought this sounded excessive, but the rationale behind it made perfect sense.

In the middle of the night, if my baby had an accident, did I want to pull the mattress out, find a new mattress pad and fitted sheet and make the bed, or did I just want to strip the soiled fitted sheet and mattress pad off and have a fresh one ready to go underneath. It was as you say and “awe moment.” And it has by far been the most helpful tip I’ve ever received and I feel compelled to share it with everyone I know, met and who read my blog.

The dust ruffle I feel is also made for moms. I’ll admit, I’m not a huge fan of dust ruffles, primarily because I find they are hard to keep in place, but I do love the “secret” storage they provide. I like to use the space under Callum’s crib to store his extra blankets, and while I have them in vacuum bags, they can be a bit of an eye sore – but not with a dust ruffle. A cute dust ruffle can hide it all and just like that I have a cute storage space that no one is the wiser about.

Lastly, the mobile – it’s soothing, adorable and will entertain your little one while you put away laundry or lull them off to dreamland as they watch the sheep go round and round to the music of Brahms Lullaby.

If you’re looking for inspiration for your nursery or looking for a gift for expected parents I highly recommend perusing the selection of Lambs & Ivy bedding and décor available at Babies “R” Us. You won’t be disappointed.
