Blog: They See Me Strollin: Britax B-Ready Stroller, Baby Jogger City Mini GT, gb Qbit LTE Stroller By »

November 8th, 2016

Shopping for a stroller can be a little like shopping for a new vehicle; there are so many different makes, models, and add-on options you can choose from.  But unlike shopping for a vehicle, you don’t really have the option of test driving a stroller before you buy it.

BritaxSo, where do you start? First, ask yourself what you’re looking for in a stroller. What do you need the stroller to do for you?

Are you in the market for a jogging stroller, a travel system, umbrella stroller, or a stroller that accommodates more than one child?

What aren’t you willing to compromise on? Price, comfort, safety, style, versatility?

What add-on options are you looking for? Infant car seat adaptability, parent console, child lap bar, large under-seat storage?

Once you know what you want, then you can begin to narrow down your options based on what each make and model offer.

Because I like to think of myself as a helpful person I have taken the liberty of reviewing three different makes and models of strollers based on what could be some of your various needs.

Disclaimer – the views and opinions which I share below are my own. You can choose to take or leave my recommendations as you see fit, however these products are as awesome as my opinions so you should probably just listen to what I have to say.

The Cadillac of Strollers – Britax B-Ready Stroller

The Britax B-Ready Stroller may be on the pricey side ($649.99) but it is 100% worth the investment.

This stroller is pretty much the complete package.  It’s versatile, comfortable (though I haven’t tried it myself, Callum seems to quite enjoy it), and has exceptional add-ons. Not to mention this is by far the sturdiest stroller I have ever used.

After our first time taking Callum for a walk with this stroller this was my husband’s comment to me, “Toss in some airbags and I’d feel ok about a car hitting us with this stroller, not that I EVER want that to happen, but Callum and the stroller would be fine, the car would be damaged, this thing is a tank.”

It’s safe to say, this stroller more than exceeds safety standards, and while this may be one of the most important aspects to look for when purchasing a stroller, this is not all that this particular stroller offers.

Five-star features:

  • Extra-large under-seat storage
  • Easy seat recline/adjust lever
  • Reversible top seat
  • Easy fold system allows the stroller to fold in seconds
  • Travel system compatible

And as the icing on the cake, the B-Ready Stroller will grow with your family.  There are a total of 12 different seating configurations to accommodate your growing family or multiples!

If you’re in the market for unprecedented comfort, unmatched style and an exceptionally smooth ride – this is your stroller.

Read the fine print. It’s tiny because these few setbacks are minuscule and in no way should discourage you from buying this stroller; unless you are absolutely set on a jogging stroller in which case this is not the stroller for you.  This stroller is not made for jogging and does not handle well in uneven terrain such as wooded trails. Due to its sturdy frame, it is heavier than most strollers and not as easily maneuvered with one hand (during those times when your little one decides they would rather be carried and you end up pushing an empty stroller; unless I’m the only one this happens too, then disregard the maneuverability comment because it is then not applicable). It is a large stroller even when folded and may not be suitable for those with compact cars.

The Range Rover Sport of Strollers – Baby Jogger City Mini GT

Made for those who seek adventure the City Mini GT is compact, yet durable and provides outdoor enthusiasts with a smooth, comfortable ride. Its three wheel design, with front wheel locking option, makes it ideal for jogging and rugged outdoor terrain.

“Exceptional handling,” exclaimed one mom.

“I took my baby for a stroll through the Simcoe trail system in this stroller; he sat comfortably, enjoyed taking in the scenery, and wasn’t a bobble head despite the roots, rocks and uneven ground of the trail,” said another mom.

Equipped with a large weather canopy, under-seat storage and add-on features including, rain and sun shields, parent console, and infant car seat adaptor to instantly turn this stroller into a travel system, this stroller is a steal at $499.99 and a top line pick for outdoor enthusiasts.

Top-ranked features:

  • Easy-clean material
  • One-hand folding
  • Hand operated brake
  • All terrain wheels
  • Seat recline
  • Large SPF 50+ sun canopy and weather cover

More fine print. While excellent for the outdoor enthusiast, this stroller does offer a little less under-seat storage as compared to the B-Ready stroller and is not ideal for a growing family or multiples. If you have no intention of jogging or taking your stroller off-roading than this may not be the stroller for you.

The Mini Cooper of Strollers – gb Qbit LTE Stroller

Sleek, small and sturdy this stroller is ideal for anyone on-the-go. At only 16 lbs, 21” high and 13” wide, the Qbit stroller is ideal for travel. No trunk space necessary, this stroller fits nicely into the back seat of even the smallest vehicles (it even fits into most airline overhead compartments).

Qbit LTE

“I took this stroller with me on a family boating trip, and it was perfect.  Easily stowed away in the cabin of the boat, and was so easy to pop up and take with us when we got to our various destinations.  Highly recommend,” claimed one user.

Highest quality features:

  • Quick and easy one-hand self-standing folding system
    Qbit Folded
  • Travel bag and adjustable carry strap
  • Large extendable canopy
  • Mid-size storage basket
  • Removable Cup Holder

For further convenience this stroller can also be adapted to a travel system with select infant car seats including the Evenflo LiteMax.

The fine print. This stroller is ideal for on-the-go parents and those individuals that don’t want a stroller that takes up a lot of space.  Ideal for fast paced city life, but not recommended for strolls on rough terrain.  Be cautious with the cup holder; it is a little on the large side and doesn’t hug cups well.  I recommend purchasing a parent console, such as the Skip Hop Grab & Go Stroller Organizer or the 3 Sprouts Stroller Organizer, which can be easily attached to this stroller and offer added storage.

Stroller shopping can be overwhelming.  Before heading out to shop take some time to determine what you are looking for in a stroller.  Once you have a basic idea of what you are looking for, ask questions.  The sales associates at Babies R Us are very knowledgeable and can provide some great recommendations to help you further narrow down your options and help you choose the stroller that is a perfect fit for you and your family.
