Blog: Tranquil Moments: Fisher-Price My Little Lamb Deluxe Rock n Play Soothing Seat Review By »

December 16th, 2016

Pregnancy and parenthood is rewarding and challenging; sharing stories, experiences, advice, successes and struggles, helps you to know you are not alone, and learning how to laugh throughout the whole process is important, because laughter will melt away the stressful days. Also, when you see your baby’s precious smile, you will always be reminded that everything is worth it.

I remember a co-worker saying to me when I was pregnant, “tell me all the things that nobody talks about, what pregnancy and parenthood is really like, I want to be prepared for those things.” I thought I had a good handle on what to expect for pregnancy and parenthood. Well now that I have gone through the pregnancy, birth, and the start of motherhood, I realize that co-worker had a point; there are so many things nobody even told me, that I wish I knew about! Friends and family are usually the best source of the raw stories, but even then, there are some topics that just don’t get discussed openly as they should.

Fellow blogger Dan, wrote a beautiful blog about him and his wife’s experience with post-partum mood disorder, I found it to be so moving, I commend both Dan and his wife for being so transparent to let us in on their personal journey. I was truly moved by the blog, it really is a worthwhile read. When I was pregnant I never even thought about having postpartum depression. Nobody openly talked about it to me, I had no idea it was something that I may experience. But now I know it can happen, and people should feel comfortable to talk about it, and find comfort knowing youre not alone in your experiences.

Thank you, Dan. Read his blog post here.

Something else nobody told me about was the struggles to get a baby to nap and the true toll it takes on you. I have mentioned in many blogs that the struggle is ongoing, but honestly… what is cuter than seeing a baby peacefully sleeping? I love watching Ethan sleep. I’ve struggled to get Ethan to sleep in his crib for nap time, I am always open and trying new sleeping options. The crib battle will wait to see another day.

It was perfect timing when I received the Fisher-Price My Little Lamb Deluxe Rock n Play Soothing Seat from Babies“R”Us. This seat offers a safe play area for baby, and even a secure naptime spot. I have used it for both. I have been moving the seat around the house with me – it has become my sidekick! Whether you’re getting ready, cooking or just needing some free hands, you need somewhere to place baby. A soothing seat is a great investment so you have somewhere safe, secure and FUN for baby. I have been able to get Ethan to nap in this cozy seat with no issues, so this has been a fantastic product to have.

What the Fisher-Price My Little Lamb Deluxe Rock n Play Soothing Seat has to offer:

Plush Material: Super cozy, the fabric is ULTRA-plush and has a soft canopy, the canopy is see-through with little white dots all over, it reminds me of nighttime with the pinholes of stars poking through the night sky. It’s very relaxing; very naptime appropriate. The whole seat itself is super lightweight, you can easily pick up, or drag around the house.

Safe and Secure: There is a 3 point harness to snap baby in, also, the seat is very deep, you don’t need to worry about your baby flipping out of place. I also like how when Ethan is moving and playing around inside, the seat will self-rock, keeping a slow motion to sooth.

Cool Feature: I personally love the elevated height, I like how Ethan is higher up and easily assessable, and that he can see me clearly when I am cooking or getting ready while he’s in the seat.

Mobile with hanging toys: The toys are removable if you are using the seat for sleeptime, but during the day I keep the toys attached so Ethan can be comfy cozy and have something to occupy him. The canopy folds back too, so if you don’t want the canopy covering baby’s face you can move it back.

Easy Fold up and Assembly: This is a nice product for on the go, take with you to visit friends or relatives, you will have somewhere you can easily pop up for baby to play and/or nap. You just have to push the sides and the whole thing will fold in half, making it nice and compact for travel and storage.

Vibrations: Battery operating, soothing viberations is available if you turn it on. Also nice to help keep baby calm and relaxed, getting ready for naptime.

Downside: Ethan is very long for his age, so his legs are starting to go over the end of the seat, and the harness is not sitting at his waist anymore. He is still the appropriate weight for the seat, but his height makes the seat unsafe for further use. Also, if your baby is a busy bee like Ethan, they might get bored fast with only 2 hanging toys. I find if Ethan is in a really playful mood, he won’t stay in the seat very long; he will start to fuss as he wants to stretch out.

Overall, great product! I think this is one of those essential products needed when you have a baby. Personally I love products that are multi-functional, if you are going to invest into something you want it to have multiple uses, this products offers that: sleeping and playing options makes it a great investment.

Tip for new moms:

I have just reached the dreaded teeth stage, I hate seeing him in so much pain and I am currently going through various teething product options to find something that works. My mom, offered an old trick to me, she said wet a baby cloth and toss into the freezer for a few minutes, I gave this a try and have to say what a wonderful, inexpensive and quick idea, Ethan loves to chew on the cold cloth offering soothing coolness to his inflamed gums. I am by no means a professional baby teething expert, this is just something that was shared with me, that I want to share with you in hopes it helps.
