BRITAX: Why a Harness-2-Booster Seat is a Great Choice for your Child

You’re probably familiar with booster seats, which give kids a boost when they’re not big enough to sit safely wearing just a seat belt. But some children still aren’t ready to stay seated properly in a booster seat even after they’ve outgrown their forward-facing seat. In this case, it’s best to choose a Harness-2-Booster seat for your growing child.

What is a Harness-2-Booster seat?

A harness-2-booster seat is a seat that features a 5-point harness system for kids who are not quite ready for a belt-positioning booster seat, but that easily transitions into a booster seat when the child is ready.

Why should I use a 5-point harness as long as possible?

Harness-2-Boosters feature a 5-point harness system that is designed to restrain your child in the event of an accident and manage the crash forces across five points rather than the three that you get with a vehicle seat belt. Because of that energy management, five-point harness seats provide a safer ride for children who are not yet big enough to use the vehicle’s seat belt with a booster seat.

Also, harness-2-booster seats have a higher weight limit in harnessed mode than a traditional forward-facing seat such as a convertible car seat, meaning your growing child can stay safely harnessed for longer!

The Frontier® Harness-2-Booster fits children from 11.3 to 29.4 kgs while using harnessed mode, and easily transitions to a traditional booster once your child weighs more than 29.4 kgs.

How to Choose a Harness-2-Booster Seat

Some convenient features to look for when choosing a Harness-2-Booster seat include:

Easy installation: You’ll want to choose a seat you can install securely each time. ClickTight™ makes installation as easy as buckling a seat beat.

Side impact protection: Look for a seat with multiple layers of side impact protection to shield your child and absorb crash forces.

Quick-adjust harness: Harnesses you don’t have to re-thread are simple to adjust.

Cup holders: Kids need cup holders, and seats with removable cup holders are the easiest to clean between rides.

Easy remove cover: The easier your cover is to remove, the easier it is to keep clean.

Remember: kids should ride in a booster until they reach 57 inches (144.78 cm), and are big enough to fit in a seat belt with the lap belt across the upper thighs and the shoulder belt across the chest and shoulder.
