Blog: Tiny Love Dual Motion Developmental Mobile Review

Sleep is key when you’re a new parent, so anything that will help keep that baby sawing logs and happy in their crib is a necessity in our books.

When our daughter was first born we started out with the famous Sleep Sheep. The ocean sounds worked like a charm for both her and us (like drifting off to sleep on a tropical island). Conveniently the sheep also worked into the decor of our sheep-themed nursery.

As she got older though, she started rolling all over the crib when we put her down, so we thought maybe a cool new focal point would help keep her in one place for a little while as she settled into sleep. So out came the Tiny Love Dual Motion Developmental Mobile

The little leaves and animals spin in a circle over head and spin independently as well, which combined with the soft blue lighting, creates a lovely and mesmerizing experience for any baby who is hanging out underneath it. In my research around this product I also found out that the way the little animals disappear behind the leaves and then re-appear helps in developing your babies sense that when things disappear they will come back. Which does’t seem like a big deal, until you are playing peek-a-boo with your baby and every time your face disappears they think they’ve lost their parent.

You already know that our girl loves music so another bonus is that there are a variety of music options. From nature sounds to classical music and reggae. I don’t know that we have any Jamaican blood in our family, but you wouldn’t know it to watch our little munchkin jam out to baby reggae anthems in her cribs. The girl has got rhythm. It’s a nice tone of music too in that it sounds like real instruments, not that high pitched, midi, robot sound that a lot of kid’s toys seem to unleash. So be sure to note, parental ear bleeding will be minimal.

When she thinks no one is looking and she doesn’t want to nap, break out the reggae jams.

Now that she’s venturing into toddler land however, the mobile has had to come down because it is in fact “too fun for sleeping”. Now that she can stand up and cruise or crawl around her crib, she’s figured out how to change the settings to what she would prefer, choose her reggae jams and play piano using the keys on the bottom. All that to say, not much napping ends up happening with all of this fun going on.

We like to get the most out of our toys and baby stuff, so we’re trying to get creative and find a way to attach it to something else in our house so she can still have the fun of watching the mobile and the animals disappear and re-appear behind the leaves as it spins. If that doesn’t work, it’s a versatile toy, so we can just take off the mobile piece and add the music box base to our toy rotation so that she can keep jamming for as long as she wants.

The age range of 0-5 months on the box, we found, can certainly be stretched out for a little longer, but, as you can tell from above, there is a point where it’s use needs to be modified. They good thing is, it can be re-purposed. And when you are a new parents with a kid that is constantly outgrowing a variety of things, having toys that can transition to different stages in amazing helpful.
