However, the nipples are interchangeable with Avwnt plastic bottles, so now my family uses both! I wanted to use only glass bottles, but was having trouble finding one that met all my needs. For example, other glass bottles don't have the anti-colic feature or are incredibly hard to keep clean (i.e. have difficult straws and parts to deal with). A few months ago, someone gave me a plastic version of this same bottle and I kept using it because it worked so well for my daughter's colic. I still try to breastfeed our little one whenever I can, give him expressed milk and also supplement with one feeding of formula in the evenings. Now he is 5 months old, and I have to say that the Philips Avent bottles became our favorite since we tried them! We&rsquo;ve been alternating between three other bottle brands for the last few months, and our baby took the Philips Avent Natural Glass bottle without any problems whatsoever! I was given these bottles to try as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel, and the first thing that intrigued me was that they are glass and eco-friendly. Ever since we&rsquo;ve tried these I find myself using the other bottles less and less and we&rsquo;ve completely eliminated two other brands. I have both of the sizes of the Philips Avent Natural Glass Baby Bottle in 4 oz set and the 8 oz set, and the only thing I would caution anyone is the type of nipple that they come with. The 8 oz bottle comes with the number 2 nipple, which I felt was too fast flowing for our little one when we started him on this bottle at 3 and a half months old, so we swapped the nipples for the number 1 that came with the 4 oz bottles, and voila! Perfect flow! No spills, so easy to clean, glass, and no gas issues that we&rsquo;ve experienced. I loved the feel of the glass, you could get a nice grip on the bottle when feeding it to your baby. My son flails around when he eats, so it made it easier for me to hold onto. I felt confident in putting these in our really old dishwasher. I feel like the glass allowed for easier cleaning, it was quite literally squeaky clean. The nipples were no good for us, my son did not care for them, one of them has torn. I don't know if this is user error (none of our other nipples have done this). The glass bottles heat up better than plastic and retain the heat better. Overall, I was thrilled with these. The only real setback is that I'm terrified to bring them outside the house for fear of dropping one and breaking it. Some other bottles collapse while he would eat and/or he had a hard time getting the last bit of milk out (for those of you who pump...you understand how every tiny bit of breast milk is liquid gold) we love that we have neither of those problems with this bottle. We have been very fortunate that our son doesn't have colic but he is a bit gassy and we actually think that he spits up less when he drinks from the bottle than he does from the breast. The last big win is that clean up is a breeze because there are not a million parts. The bottles get major bonus points because they are the exact size as my breast pump so I don't have to use an adaptor. One thing to note is that if you are sleep deprived and maybe bleary eyed you might not notice that the nipples have numbers on them (or maybe I'm the only one that missed that!). We accidentally were using the number 2 nipples and the bottles were going down crazy fast but once we realized they were marked it was a much better pace. In short, this bottle does not work for us right now but I am hopeful that we can try again in a few months. That said, if you are looking for a high quality bottle that is easy to use I recommend you give this one a try. In terms of PROs, the wide contoured bottle was easy to hold and my baby seemed to like the wide nipple as well. Further, I think glass bottles are not only eco-friendly and charming, but I also feel better about keeping them clean (I am hesitant to put plastic pieces in boiling water for too long, for example). Finally, the wide mouth is great if you use frozen milk cubes instead of sticks! However, for CONs, the anti-colic vent ended up being a little leaky unless the bottle was held just right, and sometimes milk would get under the ring that holds the nipple on the bottle and would become very difficult to twist off. The biggest con for us, however, is that despite using the smallest nipple available, our baby could not keep up with the rate of flow and she would often choke and be pretty gassy throughout and after eating. My daughter is 16 months old and breastfed so she's very picky about bottles and nipples. I was surprised that she immediately took to this one, even wanting to carry it around with her when it was empty. She liked it so much I actually sucked on the bottle's nipple to see what all the excitement was about and it does have a very soft, movable feel. I'm assuming that's what she loves about it. I like that the bottle is contoured and it fits comfortably both in my hand and in hers. The anti-colic vent on the worked great! The fact that the Avent Natural has only the nipple, bottle and ring makes it quicker to assemble and easier to clean which is a big plus for us. Avoiding plastic exposure is important to me so glass bottles are the only kind I'm willing to use. My only complaint (if you can even call it that) is that the bottle will leave marks on wooden tables if baby bangs it hard enough. Most importantly I needed a bottle that would not contribute to his gas, colic and reflux. Luckily, I was given the Philips Avent Natural Glass Baby Bottle to try and review from the weeSpring Parent Panel! This bottle has ended up being perfect for us! The nipples that come with the bottles (it&rsquo;s the #1 size) has a &ldquo;low flow&rdquo; 1 hole tip, are soft, and have a good shape. It was easy for my little one to use and still have to work a bit to get the milk from. Making switching from bottle to breast a breeze. The best part about these bottles is the glass! It makes them easy to clean (they can even go through the dishwasher) and they sanitize well. There isn&rsquo;t any worry about them being made with unwanted toxins. As an added bonus they are beautiful! The only thing I can see as a down side would be they are heavier than a plastic bottle. The anti-colic vent is easy to use. Unlike other brands, you don&rsquo;t really need to do anything special to make it work. Just pop the nipple in and it&rsquo;s ready to use. I feel like it worked great by not causing my son to swallow extra air so he was comfortable and not gassy after using it. I love them as they are glass and I wanted an option I could put in the dishwasher and not feel like it was leaking chemicals. For that they are great! Clean REALLY well and hold up SOOO nicely. Super impressed. I got covers for the glass and they have yet to break even with being thrown on a cement floor. I had the old Avent nipples and those didn't fit these as well. These new nipples fit on really really well. My problem with them is the venting. If the baby sucks too hard (which my breastfed baby does sometimes) the seal between the nipple and the neck gets sunk in and they leak. Like a lot. I didn't have this problem with the other nipples. Maybe it was just my baby, but I found it very frustrating. I actually used a different brand of nipple on the bottle and it worked GREAT!!! I would still recommend the bottles!! The next step is making sure the nipple is close enough to the real deal that baby will actually take it. This bottle fit both of these criteria perfectly! I've used the previous version with a slightly more firm nipple, but baby definitely prefers this one best. I have had no issues with gas or colic with this bottle. I love the simplicity of the bottle, with minimal parts to clean (who has time for that anyway?) The glass makes it slightly heavier to hold, and I wish it had a silicone sleeve to prevent accidental breakage, especially since these are the larger 8oz size, but it wouldn't stop me from purchasing or using these bottles. My little guy is 3 months and takes around 3 ounces per feeding, so the size of these bottles was perfect. I pump and use the Kiinde system, but found that my husband preferred to pour the milk into these glass bottles for feedings. They are easy to clean and he seemed to take them really well. I like how the lid has the anti-colic vent, it seemed to reduce his spit up after feedings. I prefer glass bottles over plastic ones, and we didn't have any break on us. The only reason I deducted a star is the top can be kind of tricky to be properly tightened, causing it to leak. We exclusively breastfeed except for a few times a week where baby is at daycare and takes a bottle, etc. The nipple is great for pace feeding. We did not experience any nipple confusion. My baby had no problem taking this bottle. The nipple seemed to be comfortable for him and did not push in like other bottles we have tried. Unfortunately, we did not see the effect of the anti-colic vent. In fact, my LO had some tummy problems (gas, fussy) after using this bottle. Every baby is different so I am not discouraged by this at all. I love these bottles and plan on trying them with our next baby! I was a little worried at first because she wasn't a fan of other wide neck bottles we had tried in the past, but she took these instantly. I definitely appreciate that the necks are wider because it makes mixing formula so much easier. No more powder all over my counter! The Phillips Avent Natural Glass bottles are not just my favorite, but my husband's and baby's favorite as well. The nipples are great! Soft, flexible, and feel nice to touch, but not floppy or TOO flexible. Currently baby will drink from both a level 1 and a level 2 nipple, and they both have pros and cons about them. A level 1 nipple is good so that she can pace herself and won't get too full too quickly or swallow too much formula at once. However, sometimes she drinks a little too slowly with them. She is almost 5 months old, but she was premature and very tiny, so we're kind of iffy on moving her up to level 2 nipples exclusively. My husband and I like that she can drink faster from them, so we can spend more time reading or playing with baby versus sitting and holding her bottle for her for half an hour (or sometimes even longer!) I also like that the level 2 nipples have 2 small holes instead of one larger hole like some other brands. I really like that these bottles are glass, too! Better for the environment, and better for baby! They are so easy to assemble and clean. You can't get much simpler than a bottle, a nipple, and a lid! Drying is a snap, too. Not many tiny crevices or hard to reach spots. Oh, and if you're worried about breakage, don't be! The glass is durable and sturdy enough to withstand a five foot drop onto both ceramic tile and hardwood flooring. Whoops! Thankfully, not a scratch, chip, or crack to be found. I have also noticed that my LO isn't nearly as gassy or fussy after taking formula from these bottles as she is with others. Looking at them, you wouldn't guess that there was any sort of anti-colic vent (no small parts or straws) but it works like a charm. That being said you can imagine I was a little worried when I needed to go out of town and leave her behind. The hunt for a bottle began. An ecofriendly option was very important to me. After trying several bottles to no avail, we gave Philips Avent Natural Glass Baby Bottles a try. They came packed in a cardboard box and separated by walls of the same. Easy to recycle and no hassle opening. Unlike other bottles, my daughter had no issues latching or staying latched.The bottle is vented well and the nipple has well proportioned holes; my daughter wasn&rsquo;t fussy during the feeding or gassy afterwards. For the first feeding we used a 4oz bottle with a one hole flow (the 8oz has two holes). The nipple is softest right at the tip, allowing for a soothing palate sensation and ease of flow. The bottles are easy to clean and assemble, though the lid was hard to pull off at first. I soon got the hang of it and can now do it one handed with ease. We have both the 4oz's and the 8oz's. The 4oz are excellently proportioned for my 10 month old, but the 8oz were too heavy for her to hold on her own. I&rsquo;m sure as she grows they will accommodate nicely (most likely around 12-18 months). The 4oz size has a comfortable dip for your fingers to rest while feeding, which the 8oz does not. The 8oz has a slightly smoother surface that is more suited for a toddler to hold. My baby put the bottles through their paces. She has thrown them and dropped them, but not a single one has broken. She also pulls on the nipples with her teeth and even though the nipples are thin they are still going strong! A few days ago I accidentally left a bottle in my van overnight, in below zero temperatures. The next morning it wasn&rsquo;t broken or cracked! I would highly recommend these bottles. Even though all the plastic bottles are listed as BPA free, I still had some uneasiness of using a plastic bottle through the warmer and sterilizer. This glass bottle just gave me the peace of mind that my baby was feeding from a clean chemical free bottle. Unlike the plastic bottles that I would change out every few months or so, I can continue using the glass bottle so I feel that it is very cost effective. Unfortunately, my baby had a hard time transitioning from nursing to bottle feeding, and didn't take to the nipple very well. He would take a softer nipple better so I thought I might have to give up feeding on the Phillips glass bottle until I found that the nipple brand I was using and Phillips are compatible with each other! After an online search I found that the Phillips bottle was compatible with four other nipples. So if your baby is fond of a particular nipple, you may still be able to use Phillip's glass bottle. I was worried that the glass bottle might be a bit heavy on the wrist (my wrists have been hurting from all of the baby holding), and I was willing to accept it as a con for a eco-friendly bottle, but it was not heavy at all, and was pretty light to hold for a sustained period of time. Another pro of the product is that it is very easy to clean with the wide neck, the parts are easy to assemble and disassemble to put in for cleaning and sterilizing. Again no guilt with boiling the bottle over and over again because of its natural glass. I also found that milk warmed up more quickly with the glass bottle and stayed warmer for a longer period of time than plastic bottles. When there is a hungry baby crying, I feel like every second counts.
