However I wish we would have thought to get a bassinet with mesh siding which is safer if they scoot over and push their face up against the side during the night. Yes, the canopy is removable from the base after being setup. However, it&rsquo;s hand washable, because the canopy covering doesn&rsquo;t come off the plastic frame so can&rsquo;t just be thrown in the washer.&nbsp;
