Yes their primary roll is Child Proofing, however they are very handy at maintaining area access for those that may have pets, and are tall enough to discourage even the most animated pup from attempting a leap of faith. It was fairly easy to install (there is a GAP - it&rsquo;s not a defect it does go away when installed properly). If you hit it near the locking/unlocking mechanism, the gate flies open.
