It is impossible to safely buckle a baby in this seat. Between the hard rubber shoulder strap pads that are too long for the babies chest and dig into my child's chin and throat when the straps are tightened and the waist strap crossing my babies legs close to his knee and digging into his leg, there was no way to get my child safely and comfortably strapped into the seat. I tried all of the strap and pad options outlined in the directions (even though there is only one setting recommended for newborns) and on the instructional videos. NONE helped to secure the baby in a safe and comfortable position. This Britax seat is constructed so much better, and even allows you yo tighten the lower anchors really nice. I wish the top anchor strap tightened as easily too, but the lower ones are so good it doesn't matter. I also love that the shoulder strap height can be adjusted with a pull of a handle at the top. Lastly, I love that my toddler can't pull out the head rest padding out of it. Most of my friends love Britax and now I know why. Britax knows how to make safe and well-made products. The Allegiance car seat has a steel frame and impact-absorbing base which gives stability and strength in an event of a crash. Even having a steel frame, it is not too heavy and actually easy to carry. It has the SafeCell impact protection and has a deep foam lined shell. The Britax convertible car seat is very stable, strong, and even the V shaped tether helps the car seat stay in place better. This gives me such peace of mind knowing my kids are protected as they're riding in the car. My 7 and 5 year old reassure me that it is extremely comfortable. They really like this car seat. I like that it holds up to 65lbs, which is more than a standard convertible car seat. Another reason I like this car seat is longevity. It holds from 5 lbs to 65 lbs, and can be used rear-facing and forward-facing. The car seat also comes with an extra comfortable removable infant cushion for up to 22 pounds. The strap covers are soft and extra padded. I think the velcro that helps hold buckles and straps out of the way is a unique feature. I don't have to reach around trying to retrieve the straps. I love it. The attention to small details make a difference. I really wish every seat in my car had anchors because I absolutely love the latch system this car seat has. I do have anchors on a couple seats in the car. It makes installation so easy because the latch connectors just click to lock in place and can release with a push of a button. The built-in latch storage on the back of the Britax Allegiance car seat is useful and great for traveling purposes. It has helped prevent belt latches from swinging around. The car seat is beautiful as well. I have the city dots style. I am very thankful that the car seat cover is removable, but I really wish it was machine washable. My main love of this car seat is the 10 point harness with adjustable headrest. It took a couple seconds to switch out the height for each of my kids to ride in. I was able to take my daughter's friend home safely using this car seat. I now have the perfect car seat to accommodate for my growing child and it will save me money in the long run. Our youngest is small and needs to remain rear-facing for a bit longer due to low muscle tone...but he needs a larger seat now. So we tested the convertible Britax Allegiance with him in mind. We love convertible car seats that serve infants through kids.The Allegiance is not an all-in-one (it does not convert into a booster seat like the Clek) but it does work both rear- and forward-facing with 10 harness positions that should serve a baby/child through age 6 or so. Saves money! First impression of the Britax Allegiance design was positive. We received the black/gray City Dots design. The fabric is plush and soft, and seems super comfortable. Since we tried it out during a very cool month here in Northern California, not sure how the black fabric will handle the high summer temps here. But the seat cover is removable for cleaning - major pro! (our Clek seat cover is not removable). The harness is delightfully smooth - we tested this seat for a couple weeks before writing this review, and I can honestly say we had zero issues with the strap twisting (see attached pic). The harness also has 10 adjustable positions for your growing kiddo. Other positive design features include the seat depth, which offers nice side &quot;wings&quot; as a head rest for sleeping kids...at least in the forward-facing position. I'm guessing the deep shell also offers extra safety from side collisions. Installation was a cinch--my husband had no issues. Only issue we had with the Allegiance once installed -- and why I selected 4 rather than 5 stars -- is that in the rear-facing position, it does not recline enough (see attached pic). Our son was sitting too upright. We make at least two very long road trips from NorCal to AZ each year and we need our littles to sleep comfortable without head drooping! This con may be related to the design of the back bench in our Subaru Forester (2015), which slants quite a bit. We did not see any solution to compensate for this, either visually or per the Britax Allegiance installation manual. In the forward-facing position, this is obviously not an issue. Something else to consider for those with a Subaru Forester...if you need to fit three car seats across the back bench, this would be difficult with the Britax Allegiance, as it's a bit wide at 19&quot; side to side (per my measurements). So, the width is a nice comfort feature, but a bit problematic if you need to accommodate three kiddos on one Forester bench, which we will need to do come Fall 2018. Overall, this is a well-made, comfortable car seat that I would recommend for most vehicles. Hard to go wrong with the reliability of a Britax car seat. We upgraded my 2.5 year old from an older model to this one. It was very easy to install rear-facing with the latch system and tether, in the middle row of my minivan. I have since moved him to forward facing (in the third-row), installed using the shoulder belt and tether. The seat is very easy to install using the shoulder belt with the lock off clips, and the instructions are easy to follow. TI love that I can raise and lower the straps without having to re-thred the straps. The seat padding and shoulder/chest pads are cushy with a nice neoprene feel. All I had to do was move the LATCH clips to the front of the car seat (my daughter is still rear-facing for another 5 1/2 months), attach the clips to the LATCH system, and tilt the seat back. My biggest issue with the installation was trying to figure out if the seat was reclined enough for the rear-facing position as it isn't very easy to tell. When my daughter is in our older car seat that we got with our travel system, I worry that it is uncomfortable for her. With the Britax Allegiance, I do not have that concern. It looks like it would be incredibly comfortable. I absolutely love the bit of cushioned fabric they have between the belt clip and my daughter. It's a small thing, but it doesn't leave me feeling like I'm going to accidentally pinch my wriggling toddler's tummy when I buckle her in. Thankfully I haven't had to put the safety features to the test, and hopefully I never have to. However, I do not worry that this car seat will fail should something occur. This means we are not as flexible for transferring this car seat between cars, because installation is not very easy. So, we were looking to buy another all-in-one, convertible car seat and weeSpring Parent Panel gave us the opportunity to try the Britax Allegiance Convertible Car Seat. This car seat impressed on two major fronts: ease of installation and comfort. Baby girl is 10 months old, so we use this car seat in the rear-facing, infant configuration. It attaches to the metal loops of the back seat with a snap, removing these hooks is simply done with the push of a button. My absolute favorite part of the car seat is the design of the tightening straps. Made with wide loops on the end of these straps, the Britax Allegiance Convertible Car Seat is easily tightened and secured (see photos). We also appreciate the comfort of this car seat, as the padding around baby girl's head and shoulders is sturdy and provides great support. The shoulder straps click into a padded buckled, which eliminates any accidental pinching of baby girl's legs during buckling. The shoulder straps have comfortable pads that cover the plastic adjustments parts and have a rubber alignment bar to ensure proper buckling, making sure that both shoulder straps are level before snapping into place and tightening (see photos). Safety straps are tightened by pulling on a strap on the front edge of the seat and loosened by pushing up on a concealed button just below the buckle. Our baby girl is very tall for her age, so we had to adjust the height of the headrest, which is housed with the shoulder straps; thus, adjusted the height automatically adjusts the height of the straps. No more manually fishing straps through tiny holes to accommodate your growing child. The only negative about the installation of this car seat was that initially setting the recline of the seat and height of the headrest were a bit clunky and required more strength than anticipated to move each part. But after doing it a few times, the kinks worked themselves out. Overall the Britax Allegiance Convertible Car Seat meets our safety and comfort needs and makes transferring between cars a breeze. Upon unboxing the car seat, I was pleased with the design. The seat had mostly dark colors, which is great for a toddler who tends to make messes. The memory foam was super soft, and it looked very comfortable overall. Further, the steel frame was a pleasant surprise, as that is one feature I love in our regular car seat! I noticed some velcro on the lower body of the seat, but initially assumed it was to hold the infant insert in place, which I had immediately removed because we didn't need it. I later realized, the velcro is to hold the straps to the side while you're putting the child in, so you don't have to fish them out from under their butts! This is a feature I've never seen before and I LOVE it. This is also my first seat with the no-rethread harness and I must say, it is SO convenient. Then came the install. This is where I became frustrated. I have experience with several different convertible seats and have never had much trouble getting a good install. This seat was a first. I prefer the seat belt install to LATCH, as my son is getting older and heavier and I do not want to worry about keeping track of whether or not he's getting close to the weight limits for LATCH. The steel frame on this seat makes it fairly heavy, which brings him even closer to the LATCH weight limit. The belt route for rear-facing was clearly labelled and I expected it to be a breeze, but that was not the case. I could not fit my hand inside the hole beyond my fingers, which made it very, very difficult to feed the belt through, and in the end my hands were sore from being smashed into a place they did not fit. The recline adjustment wasn't very intuitive either. It's on the front of the seat, which makes it difficult to use when rear-facing, as it's pressed against the seat back. Beyond the less-than-ideal placement, it was hard to get the seat to actually recline to an adequate degree as well. I currently have the seat reclined as far as I can get it to go, but am still not happy with it. The indicated line seems to be about parallel with the ground, but my toddler recently fell asleep in the car and when we arrived home I found his head slumped forward, rather than back or to the side, as he does in his other seats. For a small baby who doesn't have proper trunk control yet, this seems problematic. I'm unsure whether the seat does recline more and I'm just unable to finagle mine to do so, or if that's truly as far back as it goes. All in all, my tall 3-year-old claims to be comfortable rear-facing in this car seat, though his legs look a tad more cramped than they do in other seats. Previously she used a Britax infant seat and I have to say that I've been very impressed with the quality seats the company manufactures. While my daughter is petite, I felt that she would be more comfortable in a larger seat and knew we'd soon be in the market for a convertible one anyways. The Allegiance provides a moderately deep seat with thick cushioning, making it a comfy ride-- my 3 year old tested it out when it first arrived and verified! The seat also comes with a removable cushion for infants, or toddlers I believe under 22 lbs. My daughter was right at the weight recommendation so I decided to leave out the infant cushion and she fits nicely. The seat is easy to install BUT unlike my other Britax and my son's Graco convertible seat... there is no level indicator window... there is a picture of a line that you are supposed to use to tell whether the seat is in a level position--- I don't like the lack of this feature at all and recommend this is fixed on future models. The seat, being that it can be forward or rear-facing has 3 levels of tilt to it based upon weight etc. These modes are not indicated on the seat, so you have to guess which position you're putting it in... this should also be updated on future models. I do love that the seat grows with your child, with multiple positions and back heights... simply extend the back and you're done! I love that the height of the straps self-adjust and you don't have to fidget with them. Unlike infant seats that don't need a cupholder, I think that one is a must in a convertible seat if it is truly the best seat to grow with your child.. this one however does not have a cupholder. Overall, this is a good quality product that I would recommend to anyone in the market for a convertible seat. And, of course, my daughter threw up in the car seat two days after we installed it, so we got to test out how easy it was to clean. While there were some pieces that could be thrown in the washing machine, others had to be hand washed and I found the whole process to be really laborious. Putting the seat back together the next day after everything had dried was difficult as well. Hopefully, this isn't something we have to experience again! It is truly a wonderful product. My daughter is 18 months old and we were using the Britax Marathon Convertible Car Seat with click tight technology. The Allegiance Convertible Car Seat was much easier to install, had many more safety features, and our daughter loves to just sit in it. I tried to include a photo of her just sitting in it in our living room before install but the connection was not so great. The price point is quite affordable when you think about how long your child can use it. My daughter will help you buckle in which is a breeze thanks to the Velcro on the straps to hold them out of the way while you place your child in the seat. The adjustments are fairly easy if you are or are not familiar with the Britax line. The cover on the car seat appears to cover much more of the little crevices where food and crumbs can hide which will help keep it much cleaner.
