It is tricky to install correctly, but worth it for us! We love the swivel, it makes it so much easier to get a cranky toddler strapped in, especially in a smaller SUV (2018 Jeep Compass). At the time, I didn&rsquo;t know convertible car seats of this caliber existed. My absolute favorite feature is the SensorSafe chest buckle. Our previous infant car seat claimed to have breathable fabric, but every time I&rsquo;d take baby out in the summer she&rsquo;d be sweating despite my best efforts to keep the cabin temperature at a safe, comfortable range. I really appreciate the thought put into SensorSafe, telling me on my phone if baby is too hot or cold, has unbuckled themselves while we&rsquo;re moving, and I *love* that it monitors if the child has been left in the seat after the vehicle has been turned off! In my first months as a new mom, with fluctuating hormones and fears, I would have really appreciated a peace of mind feature such as this. The design also offers ease of adjustment to recline or not, which just makes life easier. We all know how difficult some seats can be to adjust from position to position, and I am in awe and I love with the swivel feature of this seat! We will have two children soon, and I&rsquo;ve been really concerned with having to move the eldest to a rear side passenger position. The linear side impact protection devices give me a lot more peace of mind there. And we all know that the crotch buckles never stay in those pocket things so whoever designed a magnetic solution to keep these out of the way is a genius! The seat is easy to clean; we had a wash need on day three of use so we had to learn how to take this apart quickly. Easy. They really thought of everything. Cup hold being independent of the seat was also a super smart design choice. Also makes it easy to clean than a stationary cup holder. Cherry on top: our toddler is comfy and never overly hot when coming out. Falls asleep quickly and her neck is in a safe position at the recommended recline position for rear-facing. These are pricey seats, yes. Worth it, yes! When you look at all the safety AND convenience features in one package, and add up the cost of comparable infant seats offering the same safety features plus a second seat for when they outgrow that, it&rsquo;s about the same as just having one really incredible car seat like this one. We are seriously impressed and buying another for our second vehicle. So when Stellar Product Testing Panel gave us the opportunity to try the Cybex Sirona S SensorSafe Convertible Car Seat, we said an enthusiastic YES! After trying out this amazing product we still have a resounding yes to all of the safety features and convenience of this car seat. For installation, I was a little nervous that the preferred method of installation was to use the shoulder/lap belt as opposed to the LATCH system. But a stickler for following the rules, I installed with the shoulder/lap belt and immediately saw why this was the preferred method. The belt tensioner with EasyLock made tightening a cinch, without the full body weighted pressure with tightening of straps on either side of the car seat that accompanies using the LATCH system. I was so impressed by how easy this part of the installation was, as it is usually my least favorite part. Also I have never had a car seat that used a load leg before but like the added safety it gives to the seat and that it enables the convenience of allowing the seat to spin. Making sure the load leg was extended properly and in the green was also very simple, just make sure to pull it all the way out until you hear a click (this will be greater than a 90 degree angle). I cannot say enough about the convenience of the 360 spin of the seat. Makes putting baby in and taking baby out a dream! The reclining button was easy to maneuver and the definitive click when the seat was in the appropriate position allowed me to operate this seat with confidence. The easy to read level indicator on the side of the car seat makes a quick habit out of checking each time you swivel it into place. The comfort of the car seat was also beyond my expectations as baby was not only very safe but also cozy. Lastly, I really enjoy the SensorSafe function of this seat. I was a little nervous about installing this in my minivan, as the warnings say that it can make some of the electronic functions in your car go haywire. But I am happy to report that this was not the case! Thus far my favorite part of using the Sensor app on my phone is the temperature function. I&rsquo;m always concerned about whether baby is too warm or too cold and now I can simply look at the temperature and know for sure. Also if something happens that is out of my control the app will also alert me if baby is too warm or too cold. Just perfect! I wanted to love this seat. It has so many nice features - the 360 degree rotation, full adjustability while child is buckled in the seat, SensorSafe technology, and comfortable quality fabric and cushioning. It also has panels to hide the rear tether strap and the belt path for the base. First off - the positives - this entire seat is made of high quality material. Both my 3-year old and 3-month old seemed to be comfortable seated in it. It also has the best buckling system I have ever used. They work smoothly, and it is easy to get the harness properly tightened. The 360 swivel function also worked smoothly for me, and my 3-year old liked going for a &quot;ride&quot; in it. My favorite feature of all is that you can adjust the height of the harness and recline of the seat all while your child is buckled in. If you have all rear facing children, you could use this seat for multiple kids and just a quick adjustment would have you ready to go with a different sized child in seconds. It would be a little more time consuming with forward facing, as you still need to hook in the rear tether but nothing too tedious. The SensorSafe technology was easy to set up. Found the port in my car, plugged it in, downloaded the app, and it took less than a minute in the app to get it up and running. For the cons &ndash; due to the incorporated base and load leg, this seat is heavy and cumbersome to get in and out of your vehicle. This seat is meant for someone who wants to install their seat once and leave it. I would not recommend moving this from car to car with any sort of frequency. The latch system is a unique one I have not seen before &ndash; it has handy pull loops for easy removal, but I could not get this installed tightly enough using latch to be comfortable using it. Installing with seatbelt was slightly easier but still the most difficult car seat install I have ever attempted. I am not sure if it is because of the extra bulk with the rotating base, but the seat was very wobbly at the head of the seat when in rear facing mode. I like that there is a tensioner to help get a proper snug install, but I found it nearly impossible to get this seat installed tight enough to be comfortable transporting my children in rear-facing mode. Seated forward facing, with rear tether in place, I was able to get a nice secure fit. Given the incredibly difficult install, I would recommend this seat if you are planning to install your seat once and leave it in your vehicle. Also, I would encourage getting help from a trained car seat technician. That said, my 3-year old loves riding in this seat forward-facing. It is comfortable, we can move the cup holder to whatever side is preferred, and the side impact guards are a nice extra safety feature. I love that I can adjust the seat height and recline without uninstalling it or taking my child out of the seat. It also has extra safety features, like a load leg on the front (just be sure your vehicle has clearance for that behind the front seat), and extra side impact protectors. And what's really cool, and I'm so glad to see this sort of feature on a carseat, is the sensor safe chest clip that has an app for your phone. It will tell you when your child unclips the chest clip and beeps when you turn off the car to alert you that your child is in the seat. It made putting a kid in a carseat almost virtually impossible without coming in from the back and breaking your body in half to do so with a squirming toddler was never going to be worth it. Our 1 year old daughter loves it and is always super comfortable. The swivel feature is also really convenient when you're in a tight spot and don't want to struggle to put your baby in sideways. One of the most surprising features is the magnetic belt holders. We have a lot of car seats and most of them have tiny slots to stick the metal belt clips into, to keep them out of the way when putting your baby in. While the belt holders on other seats typically let them fall out within a few seconds, the magnetic clips on the seat are really strong, and really convenient because they are so easy to access. I also really like the reclining features. Our other seats are really hard to adjust, whereas this seat can easily recline up and down, and even rotate as needed. The app and voice notifications are also great. Although most notifications are obvious (the baby is clipped in, the temperature is too high/low, etc) it is still reassuring to have confirmation that your baby is secure. The only challenge I had with this seat is that it did not fit properly with the angle of the seat in my 2021 Rav4 Hybrid. I think the Hybrid's clips stick out further than other cars, so the built-in belt buckle wouldn't tighten enough, and it would block me from putting the cover back over it. Instead, I used the seat belt installation method, and this worked great! The seat is heavy, but with the 360 rotation feature, it's possible to only install the car seat one time. Installation was easy with very little manipulating the seat belt to make sure the seat is in tight. You thread the seat belt (or anchor belt) through a path and lock the belt in with the EasyLock bar to ensure that the seat is installed tight enough. The 360 rotation is one of the most innovative features of this seat! Not only do I love it, but my toddler loves it as well. It makes getting her in and out very simple, no more crawling into the vehicle and hovering over the seat to unbuckle! She thinks it's so fun to spin to the side and to the back. It's really easy to recline the seat into the proper position, and it's possible to recline a bit more if your child is tired, which eliminates their head falling forward (this is in the rear facing position). It's also super simple to rotate the seat one-handed. The seat material is cushiony and appears to be comfortable. The seatbelt in the seat is soft and the shoulder pads are snapped on instead of velcro like many other car seats. They also aren't bulky, which my toddler must like because she doesn't mind the shoulder pads being on. The seat offers a no rethread harness and an adjustable crotch strap (one of my favorite features), so you truly have no reason to uninstall the car seat once it's in. Now to the safety features! First, the seat just feels safe and you can tell the construction is high quality. There is an arrow on the base for the overhang indicator, so you never have to worry if your seat is ok to install on the seat. The chest clip has an imprint on it to remind you to place it at armpit level. There is a load leg that helps stabilize the car seat in a crash. Guesswork is taken out of installation with the load leg, there are indicators when it has enough tension. I also enjoy the linear side-impact protection that you pop out on the side where your child is nearest to the window. It just adds another layer of protection and makes me feel more comfortable about her safety in the event that we would be involved in a crash. Then there is SensorSafe. SensorSafe is built into the chest clip and it communicates via Bluetooth with a receiver that is plugged into the vehicle and your smartphone. It was really simple to set up. It alerts you when the chest clip is unbuckled and shows the temperature of the car. I haven't been on a long trip, but it will alert you when it's time to take a break and get out of the car seat. It also alerts you if you walk away from the car with your child still buckled into the seat. After 3 minutes, it will alert your family group that a child is still in the seat. One last mention is the removable cup holder. It is easy to put on whichever side you want and it stays on. I own another brand that comes with a removable cup holder and it is always popping off, so I was initially worried about having another seat with a removable cup holder. Because the seat turns completely around, you only have to install it once and it will switch from rear facing to forward facing. There are several options for installation including so you can find what works best for your kid and vehicle. The safety features on this car seat are pretty amazing. There's a high back anti rebound feature, additional side impact protection, and the SensorSafe system to protect baby. The SensorSafe harness clip works with a phone app to prevent hot car deaths, which just provides such peace of mind. I inadvertently got the chance to test it out when I left my baby in the car (with my husband with the car running) to run in and pickup lunch. Because it works on proximity to your phone, it's to possible to trick the sensor, or alternatively the potential for human error to cause a sensor failure, which is something important to keep in mind. The SensorSafe app is easy to set up. The hardest part for me was finding the port to plug in the dongle, which is a my car problem more than anything else, but once that was in, everything was good to go. The seat has a soft and cushy cover which can come off to be washed, it looks beautiful, it has an infant insert for the littlest ones, and there's cupholder for the older kiddos who need their drinks and snacks on the go. There are magnetic buckle holders in the side of the seat so you don't have to dig them out from under your kiddo to get settled in the carseat. While getting my smaller baby in the stationary seat was easy enough (she was very cooperative going into the car), once she hit the 2-years-old mark her weight started making it really difficult to get her in and out and no one wants to negotiate with a 2-year-old about putting themselves all the way in the seat every single time. The Sirona S has been a complete game changer solving this problem. Being able to spin the seat makes it exponentially easier to get my daughter in and out. I also feel like I can ensure a better strap fit every time because I can completely see what I am doing. Other features such as the angle of the strap release being impossible for my daughter to reach and the sensor safe alerting me if she unbuckles herself are great for my peace of mind as well. Also comforting is the extra side impact protection in the event that we have to use the car seat next to a car door. While I didn&rsquo;t seek a load leg while car seat shopping, I really like this one and feel like it adds to the sturdiness of the seat. Even when empty I don&rsquo;t see or hear any movement from the seat while the car is in motion. The magnets to hold the straps are a bit of a disappointment as they are small and high up and the top buckle always gets in the way so I don&rsquo;t end up using them, but I like the idea of them. I hope CYBEX makes the magnets larger or adjustable in the future, but it&rsquo;s easy enough to just rest the straps over the sides of the car seat instead. I installed the Sirona S in the middle seat of my Mazda CX-5 with my fingers crossed because it is notoriously difficult to find rear facing convertible car seats that can fit this car well due to the narrow back seat. I was blown away that I not only have room to install it rear facing, but I can also recline my daughter quite a bit more than I could in the original car seat. However, the front seat riders would need to be quite short to use it in a side seat position rather than in the middle. My first time installing the seat was more challenging than usual; it took probably 2-3 times longer than my former car seat the first time. However, after figuring out the best installation for my car that first time it has been simple to reinstall every time since and all of the benefits of the seat are well worth the initial challenge. Definitely use both the installation videos on YouTube (as they are easier to follow than the manual) in conjunction with the manual (as the videos don&rsquo;t include all of the required information for a safe install.) I wish you could set the recline to your favorite spot and have it return to that recline automatically after spinning back into place rather than having to find the recline manually and check the recline indicator each time. However, it&rsquo;s also nice to be able to really simply adjust the recline amount while spinning the seat back into place custom each time (such as more upright when they are wide awake and more reclined when you&rsquo;re hoping for a nap on the ride). The best part? My daughter is all smiles in this car seat. She loves the spin (she holds her legs up and says &ldquo;wee!&rdquo;), putting her feet in the plastic base (which I prefer over her feet on the car fabric), and she says it&rsquo;s very comfortable. When I tested the cushion myself I can see why; you can feel the plastic through the cushion of our former car seat with very minimal pressure whereas I only feel cushion on the Sirona. So, all in all, I whole-heartedly recommend this seat. No unbuckling the entire seat and lugging the whole thing inside to try and figure out how in the heck to reattach it all after washing! The SensorSafe technology was the cherry on top. Install an app on your phone and it sends notifications when the seat is buckled or unbuckled, and if the temperature gets too cold/hot. She was so excited for a car seat that rotates and still giggles when I spin her to the rear facing position. We both love the indigo blue color. Installation was not the easiest! I first attempted to put the car seat into my small sedan since it was home at the time. I tried both the LATCH system and the seatbelt installation, but I couldn&rsquo;t get either to work. The car seat would still move more than an inch at the belt path. Once the truck got home, I installed it in there with a few minor issues, but the videos and manual helped a ton. I like that they offer live video installation help and I will be reaching out to them to see if they can help with installation in the sedan. All the seat adjustments are super easy to make&mdash;tightening/loosening the harness, opening/closing chest clips, buckling/unbuckling crotch buckle, moving the head rest/harness straps, and moving the crotch strap. I leave the car seat rotated towards the door so my daughter can climb into the truck on her own and get situated. I can then fasten and check everything from the ground instead of having to climb into the truck like I had to with our previous seats. I also love that I can rotate and recline the seat with one hand. I didn&rsquo;t realize I was missing magnetic buckle holders in my life until this seat. These might seem like nothing, but before this seat my daughter and I would always have to search for the buckles and she&rsquo;d get annoyed with me digging around trying to locate them. The safety features are awesome. The L.S.P. is super easy to activate/deactivate depending on location of the seat. The load leg adds stability. The SensorSafe technology is a great feature for peace of mind. The setup was easy. The hardest part was locating the port in the truck! I like that it alerts other family members if needed. My favorite safety feature? The 50-pound weight limit for rear-facing. That is an extra ten pounds compared to previous seats I&rsquo;ve owned! I&rsquo;m a firm believer in keeping them rear facing for as long as possible.
