It was fairly easy to set up and allows us the convenience of a walk through gate without having to put screw holes in the wall. The gate is easy for an adult to open, even grandparents. I don't see a child under three being able to figure it out or have the strength to pull it back and up at the same time to open. I also like the dark color of the metal. My husband did have to adjust it slightly to make sure it latched fully. This gate is being used to not only keep my grandchildren out of the kitchen when I am cooking but to keep my dogs out. When I am cooking or transferring a large pot of boiling water to the sink I do not want to have an accident and injure the babies or my dogs so I am over cautious. This lovely gate was so easy to install that I was able to do it myself with the one tool that is included. It is a beautiful white color and very well made. This is my second Dreambaby gate and I have found that they are superior to any others on the market. I took out the bottom piece so that it can swing freely in both directions and when it is fully open (90 degrees) it stays open. When it is locked it is childproof and in my case Jack Russel proof. It does have a magnetic auto closure if it is not at the full 90 degrees. There is a visual check on the top of the gate so you can see if it is locked. You do have to be a bit careful as there is a threshold, bar across the floor, that you must step over. I have missed a few times and if the gate is installed properly it will not come loose but you do need to be careful to not trip. The walk through area is 24&quot; wide and it is 29&quot; tall. It is very well made, works perfect, looks great, and is dependable. You can count on the gate to keep your children or pets safe and secure. Gate works great. It easy to unlatch, even when your hands our full. The install for us allows us to press across the release latch and swing the gate open. It is also easy to shut, we just push it back and it stops over the latch automatically. This particular gate is a BIG improvement from the gates I used when my older children were younger (cheap wooden gate that pinched fingers and had to be pushed closed and caused numerous pinched fingers or plastic gates where the child can climb up the tiny beehive like holes) and this gate also has a door that can be placed in the &quot;open&quot; position for long periods of time...unlike others that immediately swing shut. When I opened it I was happy to discover almost the whole thing is made out of high grade sturdy metal. The assembly of the gate didn't take me very long at all as there was surprisingly not much to it. You simply add on the attachments to fit the length of your door with the bolts provided line it up in your door way and tighten the nobs by hand to finish the adjustment. One of the things I truly liked about this gate was the magnetic close feature. It is a brilliant idea if anyone walks through it and forgets to close the door behind them. It will slowly shut all of the way until it locks. If you want to leave it open you have to open the door past the 90 degree angle and you will feel it stick and stay open in that position. The gate also has a child proof switch that needs to be engaged to open the gate as well. All in all we love this gate and will be using it on a daily basis . OK yea tons of gates have the door you can walk through, auto close feature, and these color indicators BUT there are two things that make this gate special. First off it has a feature where you can keep the door in the open position which is awesome for at night when my kids are asleep and the dog wants to get to his water bowl... or when I'm lugging around a laundry basket. Secondly there's a magnet or something in the lock to make sure it closes every time which is great. I had a gate for my older daughter 3 years ago and it had the &quot;auto close&quot; feature but if the gate didn't have enough momentum (as in i changed my mind and didn't walk through it but turned back around after opening slightly) it wouldn't actually latch and we would have to manually do it. With this gate it closes everytime no matter how far you open it which frees my mind up for all my other motherly duties!
