The 3 in 1 aspect is great, he got to use it as a infant, then when he started sitting well he loved playing it everyday and now he is using it in the third mode and standing up and playing it. Would recommend this to other moms as well. The songs, counting, letters, etc are different, there is also one less monkey. Its like the company was trying to save money to make it and still charge the consumer the old price. It no longer counts, says animal names or colors/shapes. I thought ours was defective and actually contacted the company and they told me that's all the noises it makes now. For instance the gator used to play a song, count, do colors and shapes. Now all it only has a song and makes some strange noise that I guess is supposed to be counting but sounds more like the voice box is messed up. Also when I registered for this, I found out that it had &quot;grow with me&quot; stages. The first stage is floor time where you lay the mat down and put the butterfly arch over the baby. This was tried for about 2min when my daughter was about 2mo old. The arch can not be completely secured in the floor pieces, if the baby got slightly rambunctious the whole thing would get knocked down. And this part could ONLY be used for a baby that couldn't move or was very tiny because the opening is only about 1.5 ft wide. There is also a parrot and a butterfly that aren't secured by Velcro like the other pieces, they are just pushed down into their places. My petite daughter has managed to pull the butterfly out multiple times and it no longer fits in its slot tight, my cousins version has made it through 2 kids and neither has been able to pull these pieces out. Despite the changes, my daughter likes it and would give it 5 stars, I lean more towards 2.5-3 stars. Had I known there were so many changes I would have gotten something else. I almost traded my cousin and let her take this back for the money. It proved to be a very sturdy product that at times gets quite tested by our 2 year old. He loves playing with it while his sister sits in it. The toys are fun and keep both amused. I have to say though they recommend the saucer to be used by a 4 month old and our daughter floats in the seat (her feet do touch the ground though). I have to roll up a towel to place behind her to illiminate the extra space so it is a more secure fit for her. The mat that comes with it could use a bit more padding as it is very thin and I can't imagine it being all the comfortable for the baby's to lay on. I also wish it was made with more eco friendly options but that is hard to find. They do however say it is free of BPA which is nice. The toys attach by a velcro belt which makes taking them off easy if you wish to illiminate some of the bling or simply to allow baby to play with the toys sperate. Each toy takes 3 AA batteries and there are 3 that require batteries. She likes it but the parrot falls off, easily the seats not padded, one of the things to hold it together under the table falls off so I just keep it off. She bent the bar with the monkeys only weighing 12lbs?? The alligator only plays music doesn't count like it said it did. It's actively engaging and the sounds are amusing. Due to non-accessibility to any batteries, we have not been able to experiment with the chameleon. We have just recently transferred from the saucer to the table with her and it's been a big source of worry. It slides on the hardwood floor easily and the center connection behaves like it will break apart if there's much weight applied to it, although it could be that we have the table set too high for her. After assembly we soon discovered that Evenflo has removed the educational features from this product. The globe, alligator and lizard in the older models would recite shapes, colors and numbers. For some strange reason, the newer models only play music or make animal sounds? Why would a newer model have fewer features than the model it replaces? Doesn't make any sense, other than to cut costs of manufacturing? We also discovered that our 6 month old daughter can pull the bird completely out of the hole that is supposed to secure it to the tray! The trio of birds at the back of the tray don't really do anything, other than a roller on the middle one? He was bored with our play yard and tired of being on his back and was destroying the play yard because he kicked and pulled it down all the time. As soon as we put him in it he went wild and was so excited. We still put a blanket behind his back because he flops all over the seat but is able to move the seat around and play with all toys. It's fun to watch him push the buttons and hit the alligator! He just loves it! His little feet could touch the floor and his body was well supported. As soon as I put him in this toy he was enthusiastically entertained with all the toys and sounds ( which are not too loud or annoying). He loves the spinning seat and quickly figured out how to maneuver his body around. He also loves that when ever he bounces the chameleon lights up and plays music.
