I was given this booster car seat to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. It arrived in 5 pieces that are relatively easy to put together. The bulk of it took 25 minutes and some muscle, but I ended up spending an hour and half on assembly because the cover would not stay in place. EvenFlo&rsquo;s ParentLink help line worked with me to resolve the issue. They were kind and helpful. The manufacturer had changed the attachment points for the cover, but the manual was not updated. Even with the correct instructions, the cover is a bit of a hassle to put on. I will likely only remove it for washing if someone gets sick in the car and just live with the crumbs and dirt that the vacuum can&rsquo;t get out. Once correctly assembled, the seat installed quickly into my vehicle. This is the only easy thing about my experience with the seat. My child is 48 inches tall and still needs the back support. It is adjustable, but not super smooth. I can live with that because it shouldn&rsquo;t need adjusted too often. What I can&rsquo;t live with is the fact that the seatbelt does not retract when fed through the shoulder belt slot on the back support. If (when) my child wiggles, the shoulder strap loosens but does not retract unless manually fed back through the slot. This is a safety concern that doesn&rsquo;t seem to have a solution. Maybe it just doesn&rsquo;t mesh well with my vehicle seat belt set up, but it&rsquo;s a deal breaker for me. This booster seat does not have anchors, and must be buckled in when not in use to secure it. It&rsquo;s not the most difficult thing, but an extra step that I don&rsquo;t love. When my kids are already out of their seats and ready to go every second counts. Would I use this booster if I had no other option? Yes. Would I choose this one again? It comes in just a few easy pieces to assemble. I will say the hardest part of assembly is getting the fabric covering to fit and connect in the right places. The structure of the car seat is very easy to just click into place. It has an adjustable headrest if using the back. I found this to be very nice since I have a 4 year old and 6 year old with a little height difference. It&rsquo;s very easy to just squeeze the handle and slide to the correct height. I did not try this car seat in the backless mode yet, but it should work perfectly since it works well with the back on! Both my kids enjoy riding in this booster seat. It was easy for my 6 year old to use and buckle himself in. My 4 year is not used to a booster seat so he did struggle to buckle on his own and required an adult to buckle him in. This booster seat comes in a nice dark black/gray color that helps to hide any small spills, while also being easy to clean deeper if necessary. You could totally remove the whole cover and wash if needed. I love that this booster seat is lightweight so it&rsquo;s very easy to move from car to car. It actually was an extra car seat for us and came in very handy when we encountered some car troubles and had to quickly rearrange car seats into another vehicle. I think that fact that it is so lightweight and easy to move is my favorite feature about it. Our other car seats have been much heavier and I was wanting an easier option for our family. I do think it would be an uncomfortable seat for kids on a long car ride. It doesn&rsquo;t have much cushion to it and the arm rests are small, but if using for just riding around town or as a back up booster seat it&rsquo;s great! Overall, I think this booster seat is an awesome, easy option for all families. The adjustable headrest and removable back make it long lasting and the light weight aspect makes it easy to move from car to car. This seat was easy to put together, instruction wise, but needed some muscle to get some of the parts together. Once we started using it, it worked as the book said it would. My daughter would slide into the seat and the bottom cushion would come unclasped and bunch up under her bottom. It was a complication every time. Overall, did not think it was comfortable or very sturdy construction. The only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because I would prefer a booster that has a latch anchor system to ensure the booster does not slide of shift out of the correct safety position on seat. He fit all criteria but when I received the seat I realized it was a high back booster seat that uses the car seatbelt to secure the child and not a 5 point harness belt like our current booster seat. My son is 4.5 and the recommended minimum age was 4 for this seat. We originally went with a 5 point harness booster seat because he was too big for even the extended room carseats (big boy) and we had tried a booster seat very similar to this one and he put the strap under his arm and would lean forward while &quot;buckled&quot; in. All dangerous things that he was too young to comprehend. I understand that in products that you purchase you will be able to see a picture of the product but I did not have that option so did not immediately realize the type of seat that I was going to receive. One thing that I think could be beneficial to highlight in general product info for buying customers that is highlighted in the safety manual is that even though your child is at least 4 and meets the height and weight requirements they should be mature enough to keep the seat belt in place. There was a great little blurb in the middle of the safety manual that would be great to have up front and center. Because I know as a first time mom I had no idea that this kind of a seat with the seat belt would bring up that issue. Since I had already tried my son in a seat like this and he was not ready for it, we did not use this in our car with him for safety reasons. However, I can say that I do like how easy it is to get a seat like this in and out of the car as opposed to a regular car seat. As easy as buckling a seat belt! For this seat in particular, it came completely unassembled which I think was going to make it a lower price point. I received this seat for free from the Stellar Product Testing Panel so I'm not sure if that is actually the case for buyers. I like that concept. I am more than willing to spend a little time assembling to get a cheaper price. It was not hard to assemble at all. Everything clicked together with barely any trouble in about 15 minutes. The cover was a little tricky but just a little. The seat is well made and seems as comfortable as other booster seats. I really like the sleek design of the black and patterned accents on the cover. I like that this seat can easily become a no back booster when the child is old enough and I appreciate that even though the back is easily removable for that purpose that it doesn't just snap off easily when you pick it up like other booster seats I have tried. I also like that it comes with 2 cup holders because my kids love to snack in the car (one for drink, one for snacks lol). In the next year or so we should be able to use this booster seat. There may be 4 year olds mature enough to keep the seat belt exactly in place out there. Obviously it's a very case by case basis as every child matures differently, but honestly I think 5 years old is much more likely a better starting age to have the grand majority able to use it. Or make it more obvious that 4 is the absolute youngest for these very specific listed reasons and then people would realize that it calls for a very mature 4 year old and they can make a judgment call on their kid's maturity before buying. But again this is not just for this particular seat. If I had seen a picture of this seat, I would have realized my son was not ready for it due to my previous experience with these types of seats. I forget that most high back boosters do not include the 5 point harness and that is something that is usually specified as an extra feature. There were quite a few things I liked about the booster. My favorite is that it is super lightweight. It was easy to get in and out of the car (especially into the third row seat) with very little issue. I also liked how easy it was to remove the back portion to use it without the backrest. The seat worked great when we tried it out in our SUV. We tried it with the backrest (although I've included a picture without it as well). It isn't too narrow so was very easy for my son to climb into. It was super easy to route the vehicle seat belt through and the space where it came through by the shoulder was well designed to keep the belt accessible after it was unbuckled. I like that it has double cupholders but they do make the seat wider. I would have preferred just one or for them to be removable to have additional flexibility. The adjustable headrest is a nice feature but doesn't glide very easily so it required both hands to adjust (one pulling the headrest and the other holding the seat so it wouldn't lift up. Assembly is required and thankfully it wasn't too complicated (only 7 steps) but some steps were a little more difficult. The first step requires a lot of force so I recommend laying the pieces flat on the ground to get them to connect. I tried it while the seat was sitting up and it would not work. It was also a little difficult to find where the headrest pad hooked onto the back (the picture in the instructions was a little deceiving). This product gets the job done and has an excellent price point. It requires assembly, which was a clear, 7-step process laid out in the user manual. It took about 15 minutes to assemble. The seat looks nice and has neutral colors. The cover is easy to remove and the adjustable headrest is easy to use. Despite these positive features, I would not choose to purchase this booster seat. It does not include the ability to attach the base of the seat to the car using the latch system. It is only secured with the seat belt after the child is seated in the seat. After my child climbs into the seat, the entire seat needs repositioned because of the movement it undergoes as she climbs in. When the seat is unoccupied, the manual suggests securing it with the seatbelt. This is an extra step for a driver to remember and would not be necessary if the seat was attached at the base. If the seat was constantly needing to go in and out of the vehicle, this wouldn&rsquo;t be an issue, but since we leave our seats in the car for everyday use, this is a bit of a hassle. I would prefer to pay more to get that feature in a booster seat. Overall, there is nothing wrong with this seat. I think it depends on your personal preferences and which features are important to you. The assembly process went quickly but I became easily frustrated when trying to pull the elastic loops from the padding to attach to the booster seat itself. I have long nails and wasn&rsquo;t able to attach them myself, needless to say my husband came to my rescue! I chose to use this seat in the high back booster mode. Once everything was together I had to adjust the headrest to a higher level which was fairly easy to do but some of the padding extended over the handle which in turn made it hard to put my fingers into the handle area. When the headrest is raised there becomes an open area with no padding along the bottom of the back rest and my son didn&rsquo;t find that especially &ldquo;comfortable&rdquo;. This seat was able to be placed into my vehicle with ease. The aesthetics of this seat are nice and simple and it has a bulky look to it but it&rsquo;s really not as large once I put it in my vehicle. My son fit in it comfortably and for reference he&rsquo;s 48 inches and 56 pounds. I like the seatbelt guide the most and I definitely feel safe with my child utilizing this booster car seat in both modes of use and until he outgrows it. My son recently hit the weight limit on his five-point harness style seat, so we were excited to give this new booster a try! When we opened the box, it was interesting to see the booster in pieces. The assembly instructions were clear and simple. The first step of snapping the two main pieces together required a LOT of muscle. I had to get my spouse to help. Once the plastic pieces were snapped together, it was fairly easy to put on the cover and install in the car. There are a couple spots around the headrest where the cover does not securely attach, but it is just an aesthetic issue. We used the booster with the back on, and my son did enjoy it and said it was a comfortable ride. The headrest is a bit cumbersome to adjust, but that won't have to be adjusted often. The seat is easily moved from one vehicle to another and it is very lightweight. My daughter says it is very comfortable. She only has one inch to go on height for the back rest but it fits her perfectly at the top height. The hand lever to pull the back up and down is a little harder than advertised. I have to use both hands but it's still very convenient! I have used it for my friends kiddo while they rode with us somewhere and my daughter wasn't with us. I just dropped it down for her height and viola. My only complaint really is the seat pad won't stay attached properly. I have to reattach it every time my daughter gets in. Not a huge deal but it is annoying. Not only has my nearly 7 year old Son physically outgrown harnessed car seats, he also now has big opinions on the functionality of his booster seat. This seat is kid approved based on: comfort and ease of buckling and unbuckling himself. My Son also appreciates having the headrest wings of the high back booster to rest his head during long car rides. The GoTime LX is mom-approved based on value! We have to have car seats for two kids in multiple cars and that really adds up so I appreciate the price point on this seat. The seat also couldn&rsquo;t be easier to use (especially if we need to transfer it between cars) as its a low-profile design and super lightweight. Having seat padding that can be easily removed (and replaced) for washing is another big plus. The seat does require assembly and I will say that clicking the two main pieces together did require a bit of muscle, but other than that it was pretty easy and didn&rsquo;t take long at all. The cup holders are also a bit small for larger water bottles but can hold standard size drink cups or disposable water bottles just fine. My favorite feature of this booster was how easy it is to install and move from car to car. It is very light weight and is easy to get set up quickly. My son enjoys having 2 cup holders, although his water bottles don't fit all the way in them. I also love the sleek black fabric and subtle pattern and the fact that it can be used as a high back booster or regular booster. We used this in the high back booster mode, so it was nice to have an adjustable headrest, however, the booster does not look very comfortable. It is very upright and the headrest is very close to my son's face on each side. He likes riding in the booster since it makes him feel like a big kid. My biggest complaint is that the seatbelt falls off his shoulder and he has to continue repositioning himself under it since it would be dangerous if the seatbelt were not on correctly in a crash. We have not had that issue before. I also wish it had latches to keep the booster in place when there is not a child in the seat. Without the latch or seatbelt buckled, it could become a projectile in a crash, but it is such a hassle to rebuckle it once he gets out. The set up was a little challenging due to the pressure needed to connect one part. Also the manual was incorrect about where to find a loop to secure the cover and when I did find the correct location, it was a challenge to get it connected. Once connected though, it works well. But after assembling it and using it for a few weeks, it&rsquo;s not what I expected. I will start with what I disliked. Upon assembling it, I had a hard time connecting the back piece. It does use extra force, but a bit more then I expected. The cloth cover is great quality, but I was not happy with how it was connected to the seat. The directions explained there were 2 top hooks to connect to, and there was not on my seat. I looked everywhere and had my husband check to see if I was missing something and there were no hooks. There was a little nub but the straps wouldn&rsquo;t stay on. I did find 2 hooks tucked in another spot but had to really stretch the cloth and it almost tore. So I made it work, but it&rsquo;s not correct. I could also use a tool to pull the strap through the other side of the car seat to try and keep it on, but it was so difficult and not an easy hook like every other one. It&rsquo;s almost as if the hooks were placed incorrectly on my seat. The seat is also kinda flimsy. When my son leaned over to fasten his seat belt it easily would tip to the side. So it did not seem sturdy on the leather seat. My favorite feature was how the seatbelt ran through the back of the booster seat. The seatbelt stayed in place and didn&rsquo;t come out. Which was really nice! It was easy for my 5 year old to reach the seatbelt and buckle it himself. The seatbelt is pretty tight in there so you have to pull a little harder to buckle up. Over all, the Evenflo Go Time LX booster is a great price point, but I&rsquo;d rather pay more money to get something that was more sturdy and an easier set up. Upon opening you quickly realize this booster seat is not assembled at all, not a huge issue especially considering the price point of the item however it was a surprise because except for installing in the vehicle&nbsp;I've never assembled a car seat. The assembly wouldn't bother me but the directions were vague and if my partner wasn't around I would not have been able to snap in some of the pieces by myself. Speaking of which we insured the back was attached to the seat but never heard an audible&nbsp;click. With the assembly out of the way I immediately realized&nbsp;this seat doesn't have clips or anything to anchor the seat, our other seat has clips and therefore feels more secure, I didn't realize some boosters use only the actual car seat belt to stay in place. I'm not sure I'll ever get used to buckling in the seat when child is not in the vehicle. We used the seat in high back mode, I was able to adjust the seat to fit my child quite well and he told me he liked the seat but that he didn't notice much of a difference between this and our other seat. In summary the benefits are the budget friendly price, fits my child well and is easy to put in the car and buckle child into. The cons are the lack of security&nbsp;clips and therefore the need to buckle the seat in when no child is present, as well as it's slightly&nbsp;less plush padding than our other seat. This would be a fine seat to use in our secondary vehicle, I just prefer our seat with the clips on it.&nbsp; If the instructions were more detailed and assembly was easier (for anyone strong or not to do by themselves) and clips were added it would be top notch.
