We use it in the basement at the base if our stairs when our toddler is playing down there, and take it down when she is not. It is extremely easy to use, intuitive, and requires no setup. It has not damaged our newly painted walls thanks to the pads on the sides. I honestly haven't noticed the memory lock function but that must mean its working and I'm not having to think about readjusting the gate all the time. I haven't had to clean the gate yet, it should wipe down easily because it is plastic but if it gets really messy that would take a while because of all the holes and crevices. I took one star away because the plastic is lightweight (cheap?) and it looks pretty basic, nothing special. And I hope I never have to clean it from a big mess because that would be a pain. Overall I am happy with it, it works for what we need and is very affordable. It is incredibly lightweight and so portable. I absolutely love that it keeps the width adjustment in place so you don't have to readjust it every time you use it (like other gates). It accommodates standard door openings of 26 to 42 inches. You don't need any tools to install this gate - you literally can adjust this in seconds. Once I got the hang of it, I learned I could set-up and adjust this with one hand! The plastic surface of this gate is super easy to clean and wipe down. The tension of this gate is so secure in the doorway - it stays in place with some wiggling and jarring of it. However, if your kid throws their weight on it they can knock it loose. My tall and hearty two-year-old was able to do this a couple times, which resulted in him crying since he fell on top of it. It has also withstood my 4-year-old climbing over it to get to her room (which we are okay with her doing, as long as she doesn't let her brother out). This baby gate makes me want to throw all of my old wooden baby gates in the trash because of how flimsy they are in comparison to this sturdy workhorse of a baby gate. My walls I guess aren't completely straight since one of the 4 rubber stoppers was always a little loose which my son could push the gate too easily since it wasn&rsquo;t a tight fit. As far as step-over gates go, this one is my favorite. I'd always prefer a gate with a door when I'm using it in a doorway I frequently walk through, but if stepping over a gate isn't an issue, I'd go with this one. The plastic is strong, thick, cleans extremely easily, and the setup is very easy. Before this gate, we had one of the wooden tension gates and I swear my partner never figured out how to tighten the gate enough to make it work. This one, he got on the first try. Taking it down and putting it back up is no big deal, which is especially nice for a step-over gate. I did have a few doorways where the rubber of the gate did not lay flush against the door frame, and that made it more wobbly than if all four had been firmly pressing against the frame. My 18-month-old, 35lb dog, and 5-year-old all couldn't get past the gate. My partner and I could easily step over it, but it isn't a gate I would want in a high-traffic doorway. The gate itself is nothing exceptional, but I was very pleased with how this gate did not leave any marks on my wall. Most other pressure-mounted gates leave some type of mark or imprint, but this gate did not. It is relatively easy to use, but I could not get it to close without using both hands, which can be challenging to have both hands available with 3 kids under 5. The gate was easy to clean- a simple wipe down with a damp cloth did the trick every time. My biggest criticism is that the gate is made out of thin plastic. I have nothing against plastic gates, but this gate is very thin and I am concerned about how long it will stand up to wear and tear with little ones. It seemed like more work to unlock their gates and get them back to the same position rather than just hopping over. Inevitably, I would mess up the preset width of the gate and need to spend extra time setting it back up at a proper tension level that actually protects children from clamoring through it. Thankfully, I finally have a product that prevents our child from accessing unsafe areas and is simple and quick to install and open! The Evenflo Memory Fit Gate took me literally thirty seconds to size correctly and install the first time, and I can open and remove the gate in five seconds with one hand. As the product name suggests, this gate saves the frame size of your opening and toggles into a secure locked position using the toggle-lock (highlighted in green in the attached image). In our home, we use this gate to secure the laundry room; in addition to the cleaning agents and laundry detergents, this room houses our pet's food and litter. The single hand release makes accessing this room simple, and it allows us to keep the door open so that our pets can still access the laundry room by jumping over the gate. Not to worry though, the gate is tall enough to prevent young children from tumbling over the top. I have tested the locking pressure of the gate due to our toddler's love of using their riding toys as battering rams, and I would feel completely comfortable using this product at the top of a flight of stairs. The rubber pads on the sides of the gates are a soft material that has prevented marring on the door frame. I have been wanting a baby gate for my kitchen to keep our two dogs or our kiddo out while cooking or opening a hot oven. Im glad it is small and easy to put together or remove. My kid has leaned on the gate, I always stop him as that worries me, but so far the gate hasn't moved. I am an artist and there are spaces in my home that have no doors and are definitely not child-safe. I was given the opportunity to try, and to keep, this baby gate as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I welcomed the opportunity because getting a fast, easy and reliable gate has always been a challenge. PROS: -This gate is very neutral and looks clean. It is easily washable with soap and water for those sticky fingerprints. (see photo) - The pads that touch the walls did not make any marks on the paint in the doorway. - I needed to read the instructions because the memory setting was not instinctual to me. But it was very easy to do, and works like a charm. It releases from the wall about 1/8 of an inch; just enough to slip it out of the doorway. I love that I don't have to readjust the setting every time. This speeds up the process of installing the gate quickly when it's needed. -This gate is lightweight, so I was concerned about strength. I set up the gate in the vital doorway, and tested it by leaning all of my weight on it. (see photo) It bowed, but did not budge. The curving of the gate bounced back into a straight line after removing my hand. I was pleasantly surprised. It will be a great match for my feisty grand daughter, who has pushed down gates before. -The gate lock is easy to set and to undo, but not so easy for tiny fingers, as there are 2 things you have to do at the same time to get the gate to release. - The gate is only 24&quot; high, so it is easy for shorter adults to climb over without hooking a foot on it. - this gate fits well in my standard 32&quot; doorway. It is designed to fit up to 42&quot; and it looks like there would be enough strength to do that, but I did not try it in a door of that width. CONS: -There is one area on the gate that has some pokey corners. I can't say they are sharp, as they do not cut skin, but i pressed my finger on one corner by accident when carrying it, and it hurt. I think it might be possible for little fingers to get stuck and hurt if the child is exploring in that area near the top &quot;rail&quot; of the gate. (see photo) This is on both sides of the gate. This would not prevent me from using this gate, but something to be conscious of. When I use it at my house I will use the memory lock so that I will not need to readjust it every time I put it back up which makes installing it each time super easy. I really love that this gate can be used at doorways/room openings of various sizes as well. It can be used to block the hallway, a bedroom, or the dining room/kitchen. I have even used this gate when I travel. It is not that big or bulky and it travels well. It has come in very handy to have when we are staying away from home.
