We started using it when our oldest turned four. Pros: Moves easily between vehicles when required. Uses the regular seat belt to hold the seat and child in place. Convenient hook for the seat belt to make the belt fall at the right angle for child. Cons. The biggest con for us is that the back is rather flimsy. The connection point between the seat and the back is wobbly and sometimes will lean to one side if our child is sleeping in the car seat. Also, our oldest says it needs cup holders. It has two pull out drawers on each side, but they're square and while it holds a cup fine, in his opinion, it's not a cup holder. Notes: We haven't used the car seat without the back. Overall, it's not bad. It is compact in size (doesn't take up too much space). It helps position the seat belt perfectly. In CA we must keep our children in boosters until 10 years old and this seat will easily last the years I will need it. My daughter said she loved the impact boarders (near the head) because it helped her while she slept. I noticed she didn't fall to the side like she did with her normal boosters (no back). It is easy to install, you just use your car's seat belt. It is not heavy in the least, which is good if you have multiple vehicles and need to switch. The fabric is machine washable which is a big plus if you are using it for a toddler with snacks. Speaking of snacks, it has a snack tray which slides in and out easily. The headrest is optional. You do not have to use it, but why wouldn't you, it has 9 adjustable positions which I am in love with because my child will be able to grow with this seat. Children can sit comfortably in it because of the armrests which I haven't seen in boosters seats all of the time. AWESOME FEATURE. The set up was done in minutes. I didn't even have to look at the directions. Simple. The Spectrum didn't require rethreading of the seatbelt at every buckle time. As a mom of three under the age of four, getting out of the house is always a chore. This product was quick and easy to assemble and easy to install. The seat is soft and the material seems to be durable. I like that with the high back you also get the protection for the head in the event of an accident. The high back also gives them a place to rest their head when they fall asleep. Another feature of the high back that is nice, is the fact that you can remove it as the child gets a little older and bigger. I also like that you can pull the cup holders out when needed. When you have multiple kids, having enough room always seems to be an issue. Its a nice feature to be able to choose which side to use the cup holder and when to use it. So far the only thing about this product that I don't care for is the way you have to weave the seat belt through the clip by the shoulder. The first time I put the seat in it took a little longer how to figure out to weave the belt in without it twisting. Now that I have had to done it a couple times it is not as bad but still don't care for the design of the clip. Overall I feel that this is a great product. It has sped up the time it takes me to get the kids in the car and buckled. I&rsquo;m a big fan of the storage/cup holder compartments on the side and the high armrests. I feel like the high armrests help keep the lap belt in good position and prevents our daughter from leaning over too much to the side. The shoulder belt positioner isn&rsquo;t visible, as it is covered by the headrest. That made it a little trickier to loop the belt through, but didn&rsquo;t take too much longer. Our 4-year-old says she likes it and it&rsquo;s very soft! I have a JEEP Commander and the 2nd row is stadium seating and i was considering getting a mini van which is not me at all but our other carseat (Evenflo SafeMax All-In-One carseat) which i love and and own 2 makes it harder to get my 4 year old toddler in and out of my JEEP BUT not only the Spectrum was a breeze to install, it was so easy for my little one to hop into his seat and i just have to reached over and buckled him. I'm happy with my new Spectrum Booster and no intention to switch to a minivan. One happy mama!!! We travel a lot so it's important for us to have a car seat that we can easily put in a car taking us to the airport and jump out without struggling with latches. The only downside to not having latches is you have to remember to buckle the seatbelt when your child isn't in there so the seat doesn't fly around. It is also nice because it is small enough to fit in the middle seat of a car. With big bulky car seats it's impossible to fit 3 in a row (or have a person sit between them). This booster seat is small enough to allow for 3 in a row! My daughter loves it because she feel like a big girl using the normal seatbelt. She also likes the cup/snack holders that open up on the side (it's nice because they close up into the seat so you don't have to worry about them getting broken off or lost when traveling). My younger daughter can't wait until she's old enough for a &quot;big girl&quot; seat like this! It was easy to assemble and has been easy to clean. The cup holders don't seem to be in the best spot, they are hard to get too and take up too much space when in use. The seat belt positioner is kind of tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, its no big deal. My first reaction upon opening the box was that it went together extremely easily, especially compared to all of the car seats with the billion straps that need to be routed just right... So that was a HUGE plus. My 4 1/2 year old son immediately jumped right in and was checking it out! He loves how comfortable it is, and he like the cup holders b/c they store a lot of small toys, and then close hidden. Big plus for him! My only gripe (which is not that big of a deal) is that the cup holders don't look they'd securely hold a wide variety of cups. As I mentioned, I have no prior experience with booster car seats, just the baby ones and toddler ones that all secure to those bars under the seat. So right off the bat, I was excited that I can be done (FINALLY!!!!) with the 5-point harness that is so annoying in the winter with bulky clothes. Then I got a little confused b/c I don't get why it doesn't secure to the seat... My wife informed me that that is the great part of these seats, that you can remove them easily. I thought of it a little different, that it would be flying around when no one is sitting in it, but I get both sides completely! So let's just say 1/2 plus there! All in all, I am extremely happy with this seat! My son loves it, it feels and looks very safe! There are visible examples throughout the seat that exude good engineering and safety, for example, on both sides of the headrest, there are large gray nodes sticking out, that if you read them, they are impact cushions designed to absorb the side impact and crush so that your child's head remains safe. I like that it can be used both as a high-back booster and no-back booster so it will grow with my child. I also really like that the seat has big headwings for side impact protection and that the seat is rollover tested. The cup holders store inside the base of the seat and can be pulled out when needed. I like the space saving design of this but I found them difficult to pull out and doubt my son would be able to do this easily on his own. We would end up leaving one out all the time. The fabric is soft and feels like neoprene. It is a good neutral grey color to match many car interiors. My son said the seat is comfortable but we haven't gone on any long trips yet. Out of the box, assembly of the seat was easy, just a few steps. I wish this seat had latch connectors to secure the seat in the vehicle when not being used so I don't have to remember to buckle the empty seat in each time.
