When we received the Evenflo Platinum Symphony to have in the house for when my 7 month old, and 15 month old grandsons are here with me, I was very impressed. This car seat looks more like a captains chair to me, and has so many features that are important, especially because we live in a town that has both an extreme summer an winter. Our hot months are beginning and knowing that the Outlast technology will keep both boys in comfort even on the hottest day, is so comforting. The Buckle Pockets will also aide in keeping them from getting that wonderful burn we all experience when getting in a car on a hot day. And when we talk about comfort, it is beyond comfortable, this week Julius rode around in it and was the picture of super comfort and style. I have 3 kids. When my older two were little, I loved the Evenflo Triumph. Now with my youngest, I am loving the Platinum Symphony. We live in Texas where the temperature is ridiculous, even in spring time, and putting a child in a hot car seat is torture. I love that this car seat has fabric technology that keeps it cool. Plus, it also regulates in cold weather. It's been unseasonably cold here, and since switching to this car seat, my daughter is not freezing in the mornings when I put her in the seat. Before we switched, I had to wrap her in a fleece blanket every morning when we took her siblings to school. I have to say my husband was hesitant to believe in the technology of this fabric, but I've seen such a difference in my daughter since we've switched to this seat. Not only is the fabric temperature regulating, they also included the best thing. The little buckle pockets on either side of the seat to hide away the metal buckle. It doesn't just prevent your little one from getting burned during hot summer days with the metal buckle, it also makes it easy to put your child in the seat and not have to fish around her for the buckles. They're always in the right spot. Evenflo sure thinks of the little things. I love the elastic cup holders. Between sippy cups, snack cups, and juice boxes, they NEVER fit into a car seat cup holder. But with the elastic, it's easy to put an odd-shaped drink into it, and it fits - every time! It truly was a snap to install in my minivan. It took me just a few minutes and it was snug and ready to go. What's my absolute favorite thing about this car seat? I love that I can position the straps from the FRONT of the seat. If she's getting too tall and I need to re-position, it's a simple tug upward to put the straps in the correct position. This is so much better than having to take it out of the car and undo the entire buckling system just to move the straps a little higher as she grows. In addition, I feel much safer with this seat than our last. The side impact protection is noticeably better and more substantial than any other car seat we've used, and the design just looks like it cocoons your little one in case of an accident. The installation was super easy and the instructions were really clear. My son is four years old and due to his height and weight he is able to fit the 5 points system with no problem since the harness is long enough. This car seat has given me a peace of mind I cannot even describe; the Quick Connector&trade; LATCH makes installation super-fast and secure. That car seat does not move at all and my husband is super excited that he no longer needs to spend half an hour installing a car sit if we decide to take the other car. I am really impressed with the quality because I had owned an evenflo car seat before and this is by far the best I have ever used. We live in Florida and the OUTLAST&reg; Performance Fabric has been a life saver, my son stopped complaining about being hot and sweaty during our one hour commute every day and from now on our trips to Miami to visit family are going to be cool and complain free! Another feature I love is the Buckle Pockets. It is incredible how much time they&rsquo;ve saved me already!. No more digging for me. The expandable cup holders are a brilliant idea too. From the money perspective I think this car seat worths EVERY SINGLE PENNY, since it grows with your little one. You can use from 5lbs to 110lbs! You can&rsquo;t beat that!. He said it was very easy to attach it to the van's LATCH system using the SureLatch Connectors (and we have tried several car seats between our three children over the last seven years and can speak from experience). It has been cold here for the last week, so I can't comment on how well the car seat material absorbs heat during summer highs, but I can say that the material looks to be of high quality--durable and easy to spot clean. I also love the deep head rests; when my son fell asleep while we we driving home, his head did not loll--and him snoozing peacefully is worth a lot to me. I also love how the cup-holders have elastic across the outside edge instead of rigid plastic bowing out and adding to the width of the seat. For people trying to fit several car seats across the back of a vehicle, an inch or two is significant. Installation went smoothly and easily. There is a little bit less room in the front passanger seat because of the overall size of the car seat (small car) - but not too much where it is uncomfotable. The comfort padding is awesome - and it seems that she is extremely comfortable - where as with other car seats she seems to get really hot - this seems to keeps her temperature regulated. The recline feature - AWESOME. It is extremely easy and the best we've seen - this is so nice when you are just starting out as a first time mom - It is reassuring that it helps to keep her head in position while riding. The overall bulkiness is a little too large for our small car (compact 4 door) but it also gives you peace of mind for saftey. It fit perfectly in my suv but it may be too bulky for a smaller vehicle. It came with a seat insert for small infants. I really love the new shoulder strap adjusters. I never have to rethread again. The buckle pocket will be great for those hot summer days to protect my little one from burns. I am also glad that the fabric keeps them cool nothing like an overheated baby. We currently use it for our 8 month old who is about 20lbs. She was so excited when we first put her in it because she is up a little higher than she was in her pumpkin seat so she can see her siblings and out the window better. It has a lot more cushion than her pumpkin seat did, so she looks so comfortable in it that I'm jealous! It also makes me feel that she is safer than she was in a typical pumpkin seat. It has a nice recline feature. I like the latch pretty well. Now that I'm used to it I can unhook it with one hand, which is very convenient. Of course we have it rear facing since she is not yet a year old, and I must say that is takes up a lot of space that direction. Part of this is because we have it slightly reclined since she is still pretty young. We have a decent sized mini van with lots of options to move the seats around, so it's fine for us, but someone else who has a small vehicle and needs this to be rear facing might have a tough time. There is no way I could put this rear facing in the back of my ZX2. It's would fit just fine forward though. I'm not a big fan of the color red, but overall this is a really nice looking car seat. The starting weight on it is 10lbs, so most people would not be able to use it to bring their newborn home from the hospital...although some can. The straps are easily adjustable and they have pockets that the metal can be placed in on hot days to keep from burning your child on it. There are cup holders, which we have not needed to use yet, but she definitely will in the future, especially since she will be in this seat for a LONG time! The headrest adjusts up and the straps will go up much higher, so this will grow with her very nicely. The only down side is it's not that mobile and heavy to carry around, but that's also not its purpose being an all-in-one. The front recline and cozy padding are my favorite features along with the cup holder for a quick on-the-go convenient snack or drinking cup! Great for kids to take a peaceful snooze in the car without their head tossing around too!
