Very durable and our five year old fits in it pretty well. The back goes pretty high so that is a good thing. We have been debating using this one as opposed to the search cover kind that doesn&rsquo;t have a back. It seems much safer this way. I&rsquo;ve been using this car seat for a couple months now to put it through its paces to form a more thorough opinion, and my analysis thus far is as follows... The Good: This car seat is very light particularly for how big it is. With the latch system it is very easy to install and take out of the vehicle making it easy to transport. The straps used for the latch system are much easier to release than the car seat I was using prior to receiving this one which is a big benefit if you plan to move it between vehicles regularly. Where it falls short: It is gigantic; so much so that when installing it as a rear facing seat it only fits in our F-150. Due to the reclined position when it&rsquo;s rear facing it won&rsquo;t fit in a Mazda6 at all and only fits in a Hyundai Santa Fe if the front seat is all the way forward and relatively upright. Additionally, due to the size of this car seat it is difficult to carry around when traveling (I&rsquo;d take the heavier car seat over this one when flying for example). The other shortcoming I&rsquo;ve found so far is position of the release lever for the child restraints is difficult to get to when the seat is rear facing and I find I regularly have to open the Velcro cover over the release just to loosen the restraints enough to get our son out. Overall Summary: This is a decent forward facing car seat with plenty of room to grow with your child, but it&rsquo;s too big for probably most vehicles when rear facing. It&rsquo;s easy to install and switch between vehicles, and as long as it&rsquo;s forward facing it&rsquo;s easy to get the child in and out. The seat is very lightweight. There is an arrow on the base of the seat, indicating if your seat it level (which is required). I am able to check this before putting my son into the seat during each ride. In rearfacing mode,the seat moves a little and feels a little flimsy. In rearfacing mode, the top doesn't feel very secure, although most car seats without rearfacing tethers feel the same way. My son seems comfortable in this (he is 1). The straps lie very close to his neck, resulting in me purchasing shoulder pads to protect my son (which isn't a big deal). The belt tightening is a little challenging in that you really have to pull to get slack. Overall, I feel safe putting my son in this seat. We had some difficulty adjusting the straps to fit our son's needs. Also, we wish the headrest was adjustable so that it could be higher to accommodate our son's tall frame. I was surprised at how large, but lightweight the carseat is itself. Most carseats this size are pretty heavy in my opinion. It was a little difficult to get the carseat to latch securely, but after several attempts it was pretty secure. I wish the carseat comes with seatbelt pads as the seatbelt rubs against my child, making it uncomfortable for her. My child seems to be extremely comfortable in it and can get out easily, when it is time to get out. It is very sleek and nice to look at, and the padding is very soft. I have two concerns: 1. The release button to loosen the straps stuck very tightly the first dozen or so uses. It was very stiff and made both tightening and loosening the belt difficult. After about a dozen uses, it is working very well and is now easy to tighten and loosen. 2. The removable headrest does not stay put well. The kickstand paired with less than substantial plastic made for a ridiculously frustrating install. The stand itself tried to fold on several occasions, was extremely difficult to get placed with rolled up towels needed to level it. The plastic on the seat flexed an alarming amount with the pressure of the seatbelt and I'm worried that the feet on the seat will leave horrendous dents on my car seat. It feels very sturdy and has tons of cushions in all the right places so I knew my son would be comfortable in it. The straps were very easy to adjust and I had it ready to buckle him in safely in no time at all. When I installed it in the truck I had no problem getting the seat belt through and tightened. It doesn&rsquo;t seem like the seat would go anywhere but My son is still rear facing and I do think that I will like the seat better when he is forward facing and I have that extra strap on the back tightened. I have a 2011 Buick Enclave. I first tried to use the latch system because that is the safest. Unfortunately, the belt, even being loosened all the way, wouldn&rsquo;t reach to the other side. I proceeded to use the seat belt to install the car seat, but I was not able to get it tight enough. One is foward facing, 50 lbs and 44.5 in tall; the other is rear facing, 23.4 lbs and 35in tall. It worked great for BOTH of them. Just a great fit for a wide range of sizes and stages. A few things stood out to me, 1) it is lighter than any other convertible I've tried so far. That is amazing to me. 2) it was skinny enough so I was able to fit a high back booster, booster, and the car seat in a rear facing position in my SUV. I wasn't able to do that before. 3) as with ever evenflo car seat I've owned they all have easily removable covers. It's a MUST! I also noticed this one had a reinforced type material on the bottom. I see that preventing spills getting on my car seat or the buckles. The only cons are the latch isn't self adjustable and the harness needs to be manually threaded. However, I did both of those and it was so easy to Do! My family history includes an immediate family member being killed in a car accident. So when I approach what car seat my baby is going to be in, I approach this subject with utmost caution. There are a couple of reasons I can highly recommend the Advanced Sensorsafe Titan 65. First, It's a sturdy seat. Evenflo advertises that is can withstand approximately two times the energy levels of the federal crash standard. It also meets out exceeds the federal side impact standard (http://www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/import/FMVSS/#SN214). Since approximately 40% of crashes are side impact, including the one that killed my father, this is without a doubt, an important factor to me rating this car seat high. On top of the sturdy, durable plastic the shell is made out of, the car seat is layered in soft, cushioned fabric that makes the ride for our baby cozy and comfortable. I will say I was not as thrilled with the lower connector assembly. I have used other lower connector assemblies that function more like a seat belt buckle and are much easier to install. However, having said that, this is not that much more difficult to install! Like many of Evenflo's excellent car seats, the Advanced Sensorsafe Titan 65 is able to grow with our child. It goes all the way up to 65lbs. So that means this can go from rear-facing to front-facing as baby grows. The Sensorsafe Technology is pretty useful if you're a forgetful person. The receiver plugs in to your car and the sensor chimes when the car has been stopped to remind you that you have a child in the car with you. I wish I could say that this technology is useless but there are FAR TOO MANY infant/toddler/child deaths due to the child being left in the car. So here is a real attempt by Evenflo to change that! I applaud the effort. You have to have a vehicle 2008 or newer for this to work. If your vehicle is older, then you have to contact Evenflo. Overall, this is an excellent car seat with some incredible safety features. It's worth the price in my estimation. First, the PROS: the SensorSafe technology is amazing! Nobody ever thinks that they will leave a child in the car, but a simple change in routine, a sleeping baby, etc. can create a dangerous situation SO easily--anyone who thinks &quot;it could never happen to me&quot; is a fool. I hope I never ever would NEED it, but I LOVE that Evenflo has come up with this technology. All car seats should have this. Period. Moving on with the PROS: the seat is amazingly cushy and comfy. Love the extra head pads, shoulder pads, and the padded crotch buckle--my 2 year old no longer wears a diaper so that especially is more comfortable for her! The seat is also very lightweight and easy to install; it would be a great seat for traveling with. I also found it to be fairly compact when rear-facing (2015 Toyota Sienna). Now, the CONS: a minor thing, but there was no owners manual included with my seat, so I had to find it online and print it out. Annoying, but guessing this was a fluke. Re: installing the car seat, I really disliked how rough/sharp the bottom edges of the seat were, and was dismayed to see that the owner's manual actually suggested a towel underneath the seat so as not to damage one's upholstery. Why not just make a better base? My daughter's Graco seat has a wide, flat base with smooth edges that I don't have to worry about at all. Another minor thing, but I disliked that the shoulder straps had to be re-threaded to adjust for height. That means uninstalling and reinstalling the entire seat every time she grows. I found the seat somewhat difficult to uninstall, so this was unappealing--but I guess it wouldn't happen that often. Last, I disliked that the seat only had one angle at which it could be installed rear-facing, and that there was no built-in level or anything to help a parent know if it was at a correct angle. This is in contrast to our Graco 4ever seat, which has adjustable rear facing angles and a level so that you know which angle is safe in different cars (and they have differed). The angle of our Graco seat and the angle of this Evenflo seat, when installed in the same vehicle in the same vehicle seat, was very different--not sure what to think about that. Which is more safe? Will be keeping as a second seat for Grandma's house, and LOVE that Evenflo is leading the way in car seat safety technology, but will continue to use our Graco seat for everyday use.
