Placing this in my kids room tremendously helped as they are no longer coughing and suffering from dry lips and throat because they sleep with mouth open. It allows my kids to breath better and sleep. With baby #3 coming, I plan on buying another one of these for the baby room. In addition, when the family was going through a really bad cold and sinus problems, this humidifier really helped us without the constant waking up in the middle of the night fully congested. I love that it's easy to set up, very quiet as long as it's on the lower setting and easy to clean to maintain it. Practically maintenance free. It fills up over a gallon of water and we use regular tap water. But you may chose to use distilled water or filtered water. I used this in my very spacious bedroom, on top of a changing table with a towel underneath the humidifier (i wash regularly to prevent mold). In addition, I love that its filter free type of humidifier. That really helps to avoid additional maintenance costs. I also like to see how much water is filled or left; It's helpful when refilling it. In addition, I did not have to refill it until morning, the less hassles the better. Beautiful combo in colors (blue and white). I also love that it came with a sample scent pad that I may buy in addition. Really great idea and super easy to use. Since my youngest has been feeling sick he has his big brother turn it on because it makes him feel better. They both also like it because it's quite enough that they can fall asleep with it on. I prefer this one over the other I hace in my home. This unit is a lot quieter and has a know to control just how much mist you prefer. The vent the mist comes through can also be moved. Seems like the fans failing are a common issue from things ive read online. It came at the perfect time with it being winter and the air is dry plus sickness season. It is excellent quality and is made from durable plastic. I can see it lasting for many years. The tank is large and holds up to a gallon of water so it will last all night and day depending on the mist control adjustment. I love the vapopods especially when I am sick because they help open up my sinuses and keep the air fresh feeling. The machine is so quiet that I do not even hear it running so it does not bother me or my children at night. The Vicks Filter Free Cool Mist Humidifier is a wonderful new addition to my home and has added that additional moisture to the air. I love that it is cool mist because I have 3 grandbabies that could could potentially be burned if it wasn't cool mist. That is one of my favorite features. I also love the fact that there is no filter to change or clean. While I haven't used this feature yet, the ability to add a Vick's VapoPad to the humidifier, will be great when anyone in the house is congested or sick. Refilling the reservoir with water is super simple as well. You just pop off the top, unscrew the lid, fill, reclose the lid, and pop back onto the base. One vapor pad lasts me about 24 hours with continued use and the air gets all nice and menthol. We had been sick for 3 days with some kind of sinus cold. The first night we used it we woke up feeling 10x better. After the second night we were in the clear! I like that there&rsquo;s no filter. The older models of regular humidifiers seemed to always need replaced because of the build up in the filter &amp; being so difficult to get in &amp; fully clean it. It took no time to set the unit up, we simply removed the Vicks VapoPads from the wrapper and place it inside the side slot of the unit. Filled the wide tank with the desired amount of water, plugged it in and switched on the control to desire cool mist flow and before long the Vicks was smelling throughout the house. With all of us having such a horrible cough I can't wait to see how the Filter Free Cool Mist Humidifier will help to bring us some relief from the flu and that stinky cough. this has been the worst spell of coughing we have had in years and I know from other Vicks brands I have always had the best results. It&rsquo;s placed in my bedroom which is rather large and has 16&rsquo; ceilings yet it keeps up the job with ease. I was waking up with extremely dry sinuses but since integrating this humidifier, my mornings are much more comfortable with no more sinus dryness or pain. The water reservoir is quite ample, lasting 2 to 3 nights without having to refill again. One word of advice is to be sure and clean it very thoroughly as it does have a unique design which could cause bacteria to grow if not done properly. I have seen some reviews where the owners thought that the unit was noisy but I did not find this to be so with mine. It does make a slight humming sound, as would be expected, but nothing that would interfere with a good nights rest.
