My daughter ripped the straps off she was 6 months at the time and now they don&rsquo;t stay back on. Would suggest stop using around 5-5 and half months when they can really do a lot more on their own. I use the swing on the second level up and I am still using the same batteries as day 1 (started using it around 3 months ago). We use it in the kitchen while we cook or clean, or while we eat dinner. It is definitely not appropriate for newborns as that &quot;newborn insert&quot; doesn't actually provide any additional support. Baby needs to have a little bit more neck control before you can put them in there.
