The Freestyle Flex™ aims to help moms have the flexibility to pump anywhere, anytime, for 11% more milk. The pump can be shaped to fit all moms' natural breast shapes, and is compact, lightweight, quiet and USB-rechargeable so moms can express anywhere, anytime. And as a double pump, Freestyle Flex™ halves the time required to express compared to a single pump. It's also connected to the MyMedela app, enabling moms to track every pumping session, access expert tips and be part of a community of over 12,000 moms.
Double pumping with Freestyle Flex™ yields more milk in less time than pumping from each breast in turn. 2-Phase Expression® technology mimics babies' natural sucking rhythm - faster at first to stimulate milk flow, then slower to feed for more comfortable and efficient pumping. PersonalFit Flex™ breast shields can be adapted to fit your shape for individual comfort and increased milk flow. Overflow protection (a closed system) prevents your breast milk from entering the tubing and motor. Get connected - Freestyle Flex™ connects to the MyMedela app, to give you additional support and encouragement. You can use the app to track and log your pumping sessions, and create a personalized profile tailored to you and your baby.

Best pump... if it was $200 less
*Disclaimer: This Freestyle Flex Electric breast pump from Medela was gifted to me, through the Stellar Product Testing Panel.
The pump feels and looks really premium. Although it is small, it is really solid and has a good weight. The pump looks really stylish with its pill-like shape and its digital screen. The motor unit is easy to operate. Everything included in the product (tote bag, ice pack, cooler bag, bottles, etc) are good quality. The materials are water-resistant.
The motor unit is chargeable (USB), so it makes the pump easy to carry around, without the fear of worrying to find an outlet to plug it. Battery charges quickly and can last quite a few days, since my pumping sessions don’t take a long time. Battery went from 100% to 70% through 5 pumping sessions (between 10-25 minutes/ each). The size of the pump makes it convenient to fit in our purse. The controls on the pump are very straightforward and easy to use. The application is easy to navigate. The icepacks that is included is a cool addition. HOWEVER, Medela advertises the pump as being designed to fit your lifestyle but doesn’t include the Easy Expression Bustier for hands free pumping and I find it very unfortunate for the price we are paying. I still have to sit down to pump my milk; only difference being I’m using a smaller pump. No bottle nipple was included in the box, so can’t give the milk directly to the baby right after pumping if you didn’t purchase it. No bottle nipples are included, which decreases the functionality of the pump, since you need to buy them separately, which forces you into the Medela system or carrying extra bottles. I find the length of the tubing a bit short, making my pumping session not as convenient as I would love to. I felt like I couldn’t move around while pumping. The breast shields are rigid. Would have been better if it came with a silicone pad. Since I have small breasts, I found that neither shields fit me properly and give complete suction (could hear air coming in). Overall the pumping experience is quiet and quick.
Since the pump comes apart easily, cleaning is a breeze.
The pump has quite a steep price ($500 CAD + tax), but it comes with few accessories: like mentioned earlier, there is a tote bag and cooler bag included, 4 bottles with lids and 2 bottle holders. Once again, for the price we’re paying, I wished Medela has included the Easy Expression Bustier to the accessories, instead of the tote bag.
I personally would not purchase this pump, but if I have a friend who's looking to buy the best quality pump on the market, regardless of the price, I would consider recommending this pump.

Breast pumping freedom!
I received this pump from the Stellar Product Testing Panel, and let me tell you, it is awesome. I was so used to having to hover around an outlet when pumping so when I started using this pump it actually took me a few tries to realise that I was now free to move around as I pleased while pumping! Totally awesome. I can literally sit anywhere I want and pump from now on, which actually motivates me to get the job done.
This pump such a small size that I can easily just stick it into my purse to bring along anywhere, but that's not even necessary because it comes with its own purse! Other things I love about this pump:
-I find the display screen so pretty
-it comes with everything you need to start pumping, including two sizes of breast shield to try (super important to have the right size), bottles, travel storage bag, and a couple of breast pads!
-super easy to clean as the new design has bigger parts
-battery life is really good! At least two hours, which is a lot of pumping sessions.
-works with the My Medela app which is amazing on its own. I love that it will track my statistics as I find it motivating to see how much I have pumped. I also love that this pump will SAVE your pumping times if you forgot to connect your phone at the time!
-this pump is FAST (as in my sessions are shorter), much faster than my other Medela pump. I think its because the pumping action seems to work really well and feel soft.
One thing to note about this pump (and pretty much any other pump) is that to be truly hands free, you do need to purchase a pumping bra separately (probably because of the vast sizing and personal preferences that come with bra selection!).
Overall I would highly recommend that if you are going to purchase a pump, grab this one. You will not be disappointed!

Outstanding product
I was lucky enough to be selected by the Stellar Product Testing Panel to test the new Freestyle Flex Double Electric Breast Pump. I had been using the Medela Swing single breast pump before so I was new to the double breast pump. Thanks to the intuitive design and very clear instructions, I was able to start using it within minutes (I had already washed and sanitized the necessary parts). It comes with two sets of breast shields so I was able to find the most comfortable fit. I love the display and that I can connect to the MyMedela app with it. I was able to pump way more than typical on both sides with this pump, just as advertised. It’s relatively fast, efficient, and not so loud (which is great with a baby sleeping nearby!)! I love that it can be used as both a single and double pump. It also comes with a handy ice pack and cooler bag for when I need to pump on the go. My only wish is that the pump would come with a bra that can be used to secure the pumps so I can move around more freely while pumping. All in all, this is an incredible product that I am using every day and I would definitely recommend this pump to others looking for the best quality pump. Thank you to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for allowing me to test out this product!

Freestyle Flex is pretty much the best!
Finding a good pump was essential to me prior to having the baby. I really wanted to get the best one. Luckily, I was given this pump to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel! I can say that as a mom, and a nurse, Medela is a brand I trust. In the hospital where I work, I have taught many women to pump using our hospital-grade Medela pumps, so I always knew Medela would be the brand that I would want.
I would call myself an occasional pumper. I had big dreams for my babe when I had her. I thought I would breastfeed primarily, and pump to build up a supply so that her dad could give her a bottle and feed her as well. I had dreams of getting large stretches of sleep (as her dad would obviously take one feed overnight), and even the occasional night out! This would allow me the freedom to do it all! Well, it turns out my baby had other plans, and taking a bottle wasn't her jam. So my pump dreams deflated and I've used my pump less than anticipated. That being said, I still pump occasionally, at least a couple times a week. Sometimes just for added relief when I feel engorged, and also, I'm still committed to keeping breastmilk on hand because, who knows, maybe she will take a bottle, or at the very least from a sippy cup one day!? If not, I can use the milk to mix in with her rice cereal, or scrambled eggs (can’t let the liquid gold go to waste!)
The new Freestyle Flex pump was very easy to use and pretty intuitive. The functionality was nice and it was pretty quiet. It’s nice that Medela has an app that connects to the pump via BlueTooth (because mom-brain is a thing). It also tells you when the battery is low and the pump needs to be charged which is pretty awesome. I loved that there was a 'delayed start' option which means you can ‘start’ the pump, but get it all set up on your boobs and then the machine will really start about 10 seconds later (it makes me think of the timer on your phone or camera to take pictures to make sure everyone is in the shot and is smiling to get the best photo). This saves you from trying to juggle holding both shields on your chest and fiddle with the machine to start it.
I find this new freestyle very esthetically pleasing. A really nice soft yellow, rounded edges, it just looks pretty! It is definitely compact and light compared to other Medela pumps which is great because you can easily throw it into luggage, or your diaper bag to travel with it. I will say though, before I opened the box, I thought the pump would be smaller, slimmer. It is still a fair size (which makes sense as it needs to have a pump inside to work the magic!), but don’t be surprised when it’s not skinny like your smartphone. There was no way I was sticking the pump in my pocket so I could walk around with it as it was too thick. Besides, who wears pants with pockets? Aren’t we all in leggings all the time? The pump does come with this cord thing that you can hang off your wrist, but to be honest, I found it kind of useless. Yes, I could go ‘hands-free’ and walk around, but then the actual pump dangled off my wrist which I found annoying, and was the main downfall of the pump. I would rather a clip, or at least give me a fanny pack to put it in. To be honest though, I would rather just sit down and relax while pumping if possible.
I liked the USB connection to pump. While I am an occasional pumper, this pump would be amazing for a parent who is pumping all the time. The USB connector means you could also charge it up in the car if need be (which hopefully you never need to, but you never know when you could get stuck in traffic, and there is nothing worse than sore, full boobs).
I also really loved the actual breast shield. As opposed to the older version that was hard plastic, this new one has a softer edge that feels more comfortable on your boobs and allows for a better fit for boobs of all shapes and sizes, which I really appreciated.
You often see pictures of parents with the pump attached to them so they "can be productive" and do other things, but let's be real...being a parent is busy, and keeping a child alive is serious work. So to me, this pump is amazing because you can do either double or single pumping, and I could put on my hands-free pumping bra, sit on my couch, read a book AND hold a tea. That's what handsfree is about! Give yourself the gift of relaxing for 10 - 15 minutes. Let the pump do both boobs at once for maximum efficiency. Yes, I’m sure I could have maybe done dishes or folded laundry, or gotten my diaper bag ready for our time out after the baby napped, but honestly, I felt that I deserved a break (and so will you!)
Good luck to the parents out there. If you are considering this pump, you’re making a good choice! Enjoy all the moments ahead!

Compact and Portable
I received the Medela Freestyle pump through the Stellar Product Testing Panel and was impressed straight away with the minimal packaging. The pump is very easy to assemble and I loved that the membranes are large and not the smaller white ones used in their other pumps.
The pump is very easy to use and straightforward. The size of the pump makes it very easy to slip into your diaper bag or your pocket. I have charged the pump in my vehicle when I have been on the road through the USB.
Because of the compact nature of the pump I have been able to pump well on the go with my older children and at my job, which does not always have electrical outlets.

Small but mighty on-the-go pump
This small pump surprised me with an awesome digital LED screen and excellent suction. It is a true plug and play solution with well-designed and easy to assemble components (much less fussing over little bits and pieces like I had with other pumps and accessories, especially when cleaning up). Every morning, I put on the Medela Easy Expression bustier and slip in the comfy PersonalFit FLEX breast shields. I open the My Medela app, secure the pump to my wrist and turn it on. I make a coffee, walk down the hall to my home office and while I work, so does the app! It tracks each session so I don’t have to. Though I typically use this pump in the house, my favourite on-the-go pumping session was on the train from Ottawa to Toronto. The connectors are quite large and opaque, so they help to cover my nipple while in use. I used the pump both there and back without having to charge it, which can be done conveniently using a USB port if you are without an electrical outlet (hello laptop!). The pump itself is very quiet and could be used quite discretely in a public room - as long as it’s not placed on a hard surface. I did notice that it has a strong vibration noise on a hard surface, but this wasn’t an issue when carried in my pocket or purse. As for the suction, it is strong! I am averaging about 10oz in 10 minutes on level 6 with this pump - but every mama is different. Overall, if you’re looking for a compact, on-the-go or home pump that doesn’t compromise on suction - the Freestyle Flex is your answer. Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this pump to test and review!

Easy and Quick Pumping
I'm a first time mom and have never used an electric pump before. I was given this pump to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel.
Here are the pros:
- The pump is compact and quiet when it operates
- The battery was easy to charge with the USB plug and gives flexibility
- It was easy to travel with since I could dump everything (pump, accessories, bottle cooler etc.) into the handy tote that came with the pump
- Pumping was very quick. It only took a few minutes (~2-5) for me to get 1-2 oz per breast! I also liked that there was an option to pump one breast or two.
- The breast shields are comfortable with the soft rim. I liked that it came with two sizes of breast shields (21 mm and 24 mm), since I wasn't sure which one would work for me and I got to try both.
- The pump was easy to use with the touch of a couple buttons. I also liked that it had bluetooth capability and links to the app to record the pumping sessions.
- I liked that it came with extra bottles and bottle stands
Here are the cons:
- The first time I did double pumping I found it a bit tricky to hold the breast shields and connectors to your breasts with both hands, meanwhile still being able to push the start/stop button, vacuum settings and let down button on the pump. The second time I balanced the bottles on my thighs to keep the breast shields in place and was able to press the buttons more easily.
- The connector body's hinge detached a couple of times during assembly/reassembly. Not a big deal since it snapped back into place. I just hope it doesn't break in the future!
- After a few uses, I found the edges of the breast shields started to wear a bit. Not sure if this will become an issue with suction or not, only time will tell.
- I found on my maximum comfort vacuum setting that I used, that the suction is not strong enough to be hands free so I can't do any multi-tasking. I didn't find it to be a big deal since I have such fast pumping sessions anyways, however it could be annoying if you have long sessions and want to double pump.
All in all, the pros far outweigh the cons and the Medela Freestyle Flex Double Electric Breast Pump is great for easy and quick pumping at home or on the go.

Fantastic Freestyle Pump
If you are a busy mum with your hands full, then this is the pump for you. I was given this pump to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel & I absolutely LOVED it. From the sleek compact pump to the amazing app. Medela really hit it out of the park on this one. From the first time I used it I was impressed, it was easy to set up and use as well as being compact enough to take anywhere. I was impressed at how easy it was to clean also, with no duckbill valves it takes no time to clean and put away after using. The two size flanges it came with were perfect and so comfy to wear as they had soft edges. All the extras that came with this pump were great, I especially loved the handy cooler with 4 bottles & an ice pack that was rounded as to keep your milk chilled through out the day if you are on the go & without a fridge/ freezer. The pump its self was not overly loud & the display was very clear and easy to read. The battery & USB charging made this pump a stand out for me, I could charge my pump next to my phone overnight and wake up in the morning with a full charge. (about 3- 20 min pumping sessions & still battery to spare)
The only thing I wish this pump had was a clip instead of a strap. Overall I would recommend this pump to any nursing mums, Thank you Medela for making pumping easy again.

Luxury Pump!
I was given the awesome opportunity to try a brand new product, the Medela Freestyle Flex Double Electric Breast Pump by the Stellar Product Testing Panel! The minute I received the Medela Freestyle Flex I was blown away by the attention to detail that was included with the product! The packaging was smart and as you opened the box you got to see the great value of the pump and accessories inside. For me personally, it was the little touches that blew me away, such as the free month of one-on-one sessions with a certified lactation consultant available through the new easy to use Medela app. Also included with the pump was two sizes of flanges, a huge convenience for those who don't want to run out and try to find the right size. It also came with 4 bottles and a very cute cooler bag including a perfectly fitted ice pack for your bottles! But that wasn't all! A super adorable and fashionable bag was also included to take your new pump on the go! The bag is the perfect size to include anything you might need to help you along in your pumping journey such as a water bottle, snacks wet wipes and nipple cream, it can all fit perfectly into the included bag! After I plugged in and charged the main unit, I was ready to go. I was so surprised at how easy and portable the new unit is! Very lightweight, durable and almost silent. The simple one touch buttons allow you to easily control the speed and letdown of the pump to optimize your flow. I was shocked at how comfortable the flanges were and that I was producing a good amount of milk but yet wasn't in any discomfort from the pump or its parts! The portability was a huge plus, you aren't tied to a wall with this pump and can use it anywhere, I even used it in my truck! This pump definitely says luxury and convenience all over it!

Exactly what I hoped it would be
I started using this pump when my daughter was 5 months old. We were doing a combination of breast-feeding supplemented with formula feeding, and I had been using a manual pump since my daughter was born. The manual pump worked up to a point, however the letdown was taking way too long lately (sometimes even half an hour, per side!) so I knew I was going to need something more powerful.
I shopped around and decided I would wait for the Medela Freestyle Flex to come out - and I was fortunate enough to receive the pump through the Stellar Product Testing Panel instead.
I wish I had videoed the unboxing when the product arrived: I was giddy. The pump comes with lots of thoughtful extras, like a tote for the bottles with a fitted freezer pack, four bottles and lids, multiple flanges depending on your nickel size, and a carrying bag that you could actually be seen with in public. I regularly have this pump bag sitting on the kitchen table, and I don’t have to “hide“ it for guests.
The actual pump: it’s excellent. It has a button to toggle between let down mode and pump mode, and let me tell you, I never needed to wait long for let down. That was a godsend, and my nighttime pump went from 30+ minutes per side to 10 or less (total!). I was able to use the pump on level 9, which was the strongest setting, and it was pretty strong. The flanges were comfortable, where I had struggled before with an older style.
The pump itself has a nice round pill shaped style, although it’s a little bit larger than I expected, it is still quite small. Although I generally pumped in the house, I can easily foresee keeping a pair of the flanges and bottles at the cottage and a matching set at home, and tossing just pump itself into a bag for the trip. The device charge lasts a good two hours, just as promised. I can use it just like any other USB device, I don’t have to think about where I might next be able to find an outlet. Welcome to the 21st-century, breast pumps! I was able to shove the pump into a pocket and potter around, usually tidying things after baby went to bed. I no longer need to drop everything and sit still to pump. It’s just more realistic. It feels like… Freedom. In fact while pumping I actually gave it very little thought at all. What more could I possibly ask for than to make a pumping a non-event.
If I had to nitpick - and I do - my biggest gripe would be that every time the device is turned on, even out of power save mode during a power pumping session, it resets to level 3 and to let down mode. As someone who has power pumping almost every time, and on level 9, it made me wonder why the pump couldn’t be programmed to return to the last setting used when it powers on. Or better yet, surely it would be dead simple program in a power pumping mode, where the pump follows the pretty standard 20-10-10 model rests of 10 minutes in between. As I walked around with this pump shoved in my pocket going about my daily errands, I had to use a separate timer in order to remember to turn the pump on and off and I always had to fish it out of my pocket to adjust the pump strength and toggle that letdown mode.

Makes pumping a breeze
I feel like I should start off by stating that I hated pumping so much with my first child that I vowed not to do it at all with my second. I kept that promise until my second was nine months old and I received this pump from the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I’d had two bouts of mastitis and was pretty desperate for relief.
This pump delivered just that and more.
After two weeks of minimal usage (2x a day for 15 minutes), my freezer is packed with milk.
Things I love about this pump:
Great battery life. I’ve charged it twice in 2 weeks. It also has the option of USB charging.
It weighs nothing. Stick it in your pocket or clip it on and you can go about your daily activities while pumping.
It is easy to clean and is a closed system!!
Great suction without being uncomfortable. It has tons of easy to play with settings.
My only criticism is that a pumping bustier/bra is almost a necessity with this pump. It is a little awkward to hold the flanges without one and if you aren’t holding it properly milk gets into the flanges and then the suction isn’t great.
I’m so happy I gave this pump a chance (it took a couple of tries to get used to), it has completely changed my mind about pumping

Excellent pump! Efficient and Convenient!
I have been using the previous model Medela Freestyle for the past 9 months, and was excited to try the new Medela Freestyle Flex when I received it as a part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel!
As I loved pretty much everything about my previous pump, I wasn't sure that the new pump would be any better. I was wrong! The new medela frestyle pump had a few improvements that I found to be super helpful for convenient pumping and on the go.
The actual pump size is smaller, and has a nice wrist strap, which makes it much easier to carry around while pumping. Also, the cups that go on your breasts are improved and are a more flexible plastic. I found that I got a better seal, and because of that I had better suction. Lastly, I really liked that the charge cord has been changed to a USB style, which means I can charge it in the car when we are on a roadtrip.
The only suggestion I would have about the Medela pumps is that in order for them to be handsfree, you have to purchase the handsfree bra separately. This is a complete essential in my opinion so if you are considering this pump, make sure to pick one up.
