Convenient, easy, and portable
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall I am pleasantly surprised by this simple yet effective pump. The Medela Harmony was a breeze to set up, and totally intuitive to use. It’s so portable and easy to use anywhere; I have pumped in a moving vehicle (only as the passenger!) several times, and it’s very convenient to set up and get started. It’s also extremely convenient that I don’t need a power source to use this pump. Additionally, I love that I now have a back up plan if I ever forget a part for my electric pump (which has happened more than once!). The Harmony is rather comfortable to use, and I was pleasantly surprised by the output I yielded. I didn’t get quite as much as I’m used to with my electric pump, but the total difference is less than 1 oz. per session. I subtracted one star because I did noticed that the suction seemed to be slightly reduced within 3-4 uses, but it still does a respectable job. Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this manual breast pump.

Very efficient and wonderful quality product!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was gifted this product to test and give my honest review from Stellar Product Testing Panel. I’m extremely grateful that I was chosen to review the Harmony manual pump. Everything about this product from the packaging to the quality is exceptional. The pump is very easy to clean and sanitize which is very important to me. I was able to travel with this product on a 3 hour car ride with my 2 week old baby and it was a huge blessing. The suction was gentle enough but strong enough to drain my breasts efficiently. I was able to control the pressure and speed to mimic my baby. I was surprised at the amount I was able to produce while using this manual pump. It was also easily stored and easy to disassemble after use. The Harmony breast pump fits perfect in my diaper bag and is a new essential item that I take everywhere. I was very impressed with this manual pump and highly recommend it. Thank you again Stellar Product Testing Panel for allowing me to test and review such an amazing product.

Perfect Pump for On-the-Go Moms
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am very satisfied with this product and use it when I'm on-the-go all the time! I have used other manual pumps, and this one by far rises to the top. My favorite aspect is that the handle itself pivots, so once you have the pump in place, you can still easily rotate your wrist to a more comfortable position. This makes the whole process so much easier and flexible. I also am very appreciative that it comes with a stand - something most other products do not come with. There is nothing worse than spilled milk, so this definitely helps prevent that! I also really like how it comes with another bottle and lid - it pretty much has it all! Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this manual breast pump.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this manual breast pump!
I’m happy to say that it is very lightweight and easily portable. I can take it apart easily so that it fits in my purse. The pump is also easy on my smaller hands too; it doesn’t get tired as quickly as some other manual pumps I’ve used.
This one is also a breeze to clean with all parts easily accessible. I like that other types of bottles fit onto the bottom as well. The best part about this manual breast pump is that it’s super quiet and has great suction even for when I get a clogged duct. Great pump all around!!

I received the Harmony Breast Pump from the Stellar Product Testing Panel and was very disappointed by the large size of the device. I have problems with my letdown and wanted to use this hand pump on one breast while I nursed on the other (to save the leaking milk) but my baby was so distracted by this bulky yellow pump that he wouldn’t nurse. He kept trying to grab the handle and the bottle. I also found the pump to be extremely painful. The angle of the flange left my nipple red and irritated. Unfortunately, this hand pump didn’t work for me.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Harmony Breast Pump as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. It was a great back up to my regular electric pump, small and light enough to fit in my diaper bag and pump on the go when I didn't want to bring my regular pump or wouldn't have an outlet to plug it in. It's very easy to clean, easy to store at home without causing more baby cutter, and effective at removing milk. I rated it 4 stars because it isn't as good as my electric and cannot replace that but as a back up it is perfect! Worked great, but only 2 months
I bought this 2 months ago and was so happy because it was so easy to use and really helped express a lot of milk. I had two major issues, 1) cleaning: I would wipe with soap and water but even being rather diligent about not submerging in water I regularly found mildew spots at the valve. It absorbed the moisture of the breast milk and that seemed impossible to remove.
2) short lived: the suction up and stopped one day, just 2 months after I bought it. I’m unclear as to why, reading online reviews it might be that one of the parts is wet.
It’s a shame, I loved the pump when it worked, but for the price I paid I’m so surprised it stopped working just 2 months after purchasing. I would not recommend.

Instructions missing critical info
The pump was fine, but after 2 days it stopped working. I went over and over the instructions (my profession is a technical writer so I should be able to follow them, if anyone can). It turns out the tiniest o-ring is missing, which IS NOT DETAILED IN THE PICTURES OR TEXT, but is a critical element and frequently lost piece (according to other reviews). There is one call-out that says roughly “some pieces are very small like the o-ring” but the pictures don’t show what it is or identify it as a piece of the product. So now it’s lost in the sink drain or trash can and the pump comes with no spares of this critical piece. Retailers who sell the pump don’t sell the part, so one can’t run back and grab one. Its also only sold by Medela as a bundle of a larger replacement. Reading reviews of that replacement, it seems like this is a huge pain for many moms using the Harmony. I’m disappointed since this seems like a pretty easy fix in the instructions, providing a small envelope of 2-4 backups, and making the item available for purchase.

Initially great, then frustrating
I generally do not write product reviews. However, I am so frustrated with Medela, that I cannot go without this being said. As most others who use a pump, I too, had to go back to work shortly after giving birth. That in itself is hard. Pumping during your short break(s) throughout the day makes it harder. Therefore it would be nice to have a product that makes this situation easier.
Initially I was using the double electric pump, which freed my hands to do other things, like paperwork, while pumping. While it worked, it was very cumbersome and time consuming. Through friends, I was given the advice to try a hand-held pump as they had found those useful. So I got this one. And the first two months I really loved it 100 times more than the electric one. It was smaller, less to clean, easy to use, and I was able to pump quite a bit in shorter time. ***However!!! two months have just barely passed and now it no longer works. There is no suction being created. Reading the reviews here, I am not the only one who has run into this problem.
Now, a company that has specialized in devices to help moms (and has probably made its $ share from these products) should know that if you're pumping, you are most likely having to do this every work day. That means the product is being used and cleaned every day. There should not be that much wear and tear within two months, that replacement pieces are needed - for 50% of the cost of the whole pump! Shame on you, Medela, if that is the quality of product you make. You just lost a customer and any recommendations for your brand’s products to others in my community.

Awesome!
I’m writing a review because I relied so much on them when doing my research. If you’re on the fence about this, definitely go ahead and give it a try! I’m so glad I did. I’m not a huge fan of pumping, but since I’m back to work part time, I had to do it. I have another brand hospital grade pump that I found intimidating and frustrating, so I started looking into manual pumps. I was getting overwhelmed, so I decided to go with the Medela Harmony.
I knew Medela has a good reputation and that replacement parts and accessories are easy to grab at Target, so I figured I’d just go for it. I made a good choice! It’s inexpensive, great quality, and so easy. I even use it at work. My double electric pump is in a box right now. The manual pump is more comfortable, there are more breast shield sizes available for my Medela than my other pump (I’m a 36F but actually needed a smaller size shield than it came with, which surprised me), and the flex breast shields are so much better than standard ones. It does take a little longer to use a manual pump, but if you factor in the setup and pumping bra switch that the double electric takes, it evens out.
I had read that this pump has lost suction for some people, but I use it a lot and haven’t had an issue. The one time it happened, I realized that it was because I had accidentally pulled the diaphragm loose, so I just pushed it back in and it was fine again. Also, I was initially confused about how often I needed to sterilize the handle, since you’re not supposed to use the steam bags for that specific part. The FAQ answered my question-you don’t have to do it every time!

I love this little pump. I have had two Medela Pump in Styles and two or three of these little pump. I ask for it in the hospital and have been given one with a few of my births. I am pumping for my twins now. I use it in the car on the way to pick kids up from school and back home...really anytime I’m taking a 10-15 min drive. I am preferring it over my electric most times I pump. It might even be quicker than the electric pump and it’s more gentle!

please add rubber gasket
The first time I used this product it was nearly 9 years ago. I bought it over the electric because I felt it gave me more dignity. which is why I bought it again with my second child in 2017 and kept using it with my 3rd in 2018. Honestly, I love this product. However, I only have 1 simple complaint that I am surprised you no one has thought of telling you how to fix it. the Finish leaks when knocked over. You can fix this by adding a rubber gasket. Please add this.
Thank you

I'm so frustrated with this manual pump. I wish that I can upload a video for you all to see how terrible it has been for me.
It does not suction whatsoever !!! and I have to move the handle up-and-down in order for it to semi work. And by semi I mean I might get a couple mls in 20 minutes Whereas I'll get up to 90mls in 20 minutes using the Medela Symphony electric pump.

Great pump that keeps breaking.
My very first hand pump was given to me by a hospital in which I delivered my first baby 3 and a half years ago. I absolutely loved it! I had an insane amount of milk and needed to pump often as I was working on decreasing my supply. I also was a working mom. So this pump was used in the office, on the air plane, airport, car, home. You name it. One thing kept breaking though. The handle that holds the silicone part that creates suction, somehow it kept ripping every few months. I tried other pumps and hated they way they felt. I actually bought like 5 pumps because it kept happening. Two months ago, I had my second baby. I got this pump again hoping I’ll have better luck, two months later am once again in need of another pump. I love this pump so much but so frustrated!!!!! I can’t be buying a whole new pump every time. I think I’ll try to get used to a different brand.
