It is very thin and not firm at all. The worst part is that because it folds in half there is a gap in the middle that results in a curb so baby is not lying on a flat surface as she's supposed to. You don't notice it at the beginning because baby is small but after a month or so our baby started moving sideways and ends up lying sideways in the middle of the bassinet where the gap is! Even though it looks nice and it is portable and big etc you really need a good mattress for your baby, so they don't develop any skeletal issues. Therefore, I am either going to return it if possible or toss it and replace it with the halo bassinet. The design of the lower crossbars is a really great feature because it quickly and easily converts the bassinet from stationary to a rocker. The product is perfect size for travel or use in the home.
