Too much areola was being sucked in at the 24mm size, creating hot-spots and leaving a lot of milk un-pumped. The smaller size fits my nipple/areola much better, and the flexible outer ring is dramatically more comfortable, but the funnel is so much more shallow on these! My nipples are stretching so they hit the back-side, where the connector is. No milk is being removed because the nipple is blocked by a a wall of plastic. I tried using a lower suction level, but couldn't get any milk there either (and have never had success at a lower suction). They are slightly more comfortable because there is less pinching around the edges. This is my 5th kid, breastfed all and had to return to work and pump for the last 3. Pumping is the WORST! I do like these a hit better than the standard flanges, and although only slightly more comfortable... any improvement is worth it. Pumping is long and painful. I do wish Medla would come up with a better design to mimic a baby's latch. Maybe a flange that is 100% hospital grade soft silicone that only has the hard plastic where it connects to the base for a more gentle pumping experience.
