Since I went back to work, I&rsquo;ve been pumping and storing milk like crazy! These storage bags are functional for my busy work day because they stand up on their own after they are filled, have double zipper sealing so milk doesn&rsquo;t leak and when ready, freeze flat for easy storage to use later. They thaw quickly when I need milk in a pinch. My favorite feature is the labeling location as when I store them, the date/time/measurement is easy to see. The only con is they don&rsquo;t store as nicely as I would like in the storage bins I bought but that&rsquo;s my problem, not a problem with the product. Overall, a great product that I will continue to use as I continue on my working mom journey and pumping. I really liked that you they stand upright, making them easy to pour milk into and easy to store in the fridge. They also lie flat, so they are great for the freezer as they can stack and freeze flat, taking up less space. The plastic is thicker than some other brands, so they are less likely to puncture. (I've had no leak problems with these bags). The top of each bag has a large area for writing the date the milk was pumped and the amount. The area has a white printed background that you can write on it in pencil, which doesn't smudge. The bags close with a double zipper at the top. I found that tricky to close at first as the zipper is a little stiff. I needed to apply extra pressure to get the zipper to fully shut. It's great for preventing leaks, but I did need to double check it each time. I froze, thawed and had zero leaks (even bags that were filled past the maximum filling line). They thawed relatively quickly in warm water when I needed one quickly as well as in the fridge (loves the standing feature for thawing in the fridge.). The standing feature was also helpful when filling the bags as well as when emptying them into a bottle. It was also super easy, no mess transferring the milk to the bottle! I&rsquo;m a FTM with a 3 month old who is typically breast fed, though I pump for times I need to be away and to start creating a freezer supply for my return to work. Overall, I really liked these bags and found them convenient to use. I&rsquo;ve used 2 different kinds of milk storage bags prior to these and they are largely similar, with a few major differences and advantages. These storage bags are self standing, so as I poured milk in from my pumping bottles, I didn&rsquo;t need to hold the bag up with the other hand. This was super convenient and not something my other bags accomplished. This was definitely my favorite feature of these bags. The other aspect I really liked about these bags were how flat they laid in my freezer. This is great because I have a designated area in my freezer for milk and this saves a lot of space and also just looks more organized, which is a plus for my Type A personality! Thawing the bags was super easy. I thaw my milk bags in warm water. My baby isn&rsquo;t super picky about milk temperature so it only took a couple minutes (if that) to thaw and warm the milk to room temperature. There was one more unique feature which I felt had pros and cons - the double zipper. This definitely prevented leaks. I had no leaking in the freezer or when thawing. However, the down side of this was that it was harder to get the bag zipped and to make sure it was completely closed. Pros: - It's easy to get air out of the bags before sealing, without spilling milk. - I've never had issues with leaking. - They are made for the milk to be frozen flat, and then stored flat (this is KEY when you don't have an extra freezer). Cons: - The measurements on the side are good guidelines but not super exact (this is because the bags are a flexible product&mdash;not a design flaw). I had way less spills because I was able to hold the bottle in one hand and hold the bag with the other hand. This bag can even stand up on its own! This bag does have a double zipper to prevent leaks. At first, I did have difficulty closing the zipper all the way. I would think it was fully zipped when it actually was not and some milk would leak out. Once I got the hang of it though, I was able to zip the bag witihout issue. The bags fit perfectly into my freezer door where they laid flat. This made it easier to de thaw the milk later on. After figuring out the zipper on these bags, I really did enjoy using them. You definitely have to make sure and run your fingers over the zipper a few times to make sure it&rsquo;s sealed. The stand-up feature didn&rsquo;t really work for me. I think it was intended to be able to use one hand to transfer your milk in and out, but I wasn&rsquo;t able to do it. I did appreciate the large space to write the pump date and volume, however the top wasn&rsquo;t perforated all the way across so if I tore it too quickly I ripped off some of the writing area. I did like how the material of the bag was a little stiffer, so it held its flat shape in the freezer and I didn&rsquo;t get any funky frozen shapes. It froze, thawed, and reheated like I would expect. Overall I felt that this was a good product. I was very impressed with the thickness of the bag. For me, this is a very important feature because previously I've lost an entire bottle's worth of milk due to a tear in the bag that occured during defrostation. It seems that the frozen milk created a sharp edge that punctured the bag. It was very disappointing but with these bags I don't have to worry about it because they are so thick. I also love the double zipper feature. Anything going into the freezer needs to be sealed properly to protect from getting freezer burnt and of course it helps to prevent leaks. I found it a bit annoying that I had to open the bag with scissors before use. I love the self standing feature. Although it was still was difficult to open up and stand up, it made the whole transferring process easer. I also liked the self standing feature for storage purposes. I stood them up on the door of the freezer so I can clearly see the dates. The thawing process is never fast enough when your baby is hungry and waiting for her bottle, however thawing didn't take longer despite the thicker bags, which I was really impressed with. One aspect that I didn't like was the inaccurate measurements on the bag. I poured a 5-ounce bottle into the bag and it went above the 6 ounce line. This discrepancy threw me off a few times but I'm getting used to it. One of my favorite features was that it has a place to write down important information like the date. If it wasn't there so clearly, I might forget in my highly sleep-deprived state. I took these on a road trip and didn&rsquo;t have any spillage when transferring milk to and from them. The zipper is secure but can be difficult to close all the way. I found though none leaked when it was thawing. I don&rsquo;t find the self standing feature useful upon filling but when it&rsquo;s thawing it helps so it doesn&rsquo;t spill! The bags show scissors indicating you need to cut the top strip off in order to open and fill it, but I never seem to have scissors handy. I have no problem just tearing by hand. These bags lay flat when frozen with approx 5 oz or less. When filled with 6 oz (or a tad more) they don't lay quite as flat. These bags are self standing which is amazing and so convenient. I feel the convenience of the self standing feature is well worth the bags not laying perfectly flat when filled to max capacity. The bags have a good weight and they feel sturdy not flimsy. First, the bag itself feels strong; the plastic is thicker than other storage bags. I LOVE that these bags stand alone which is so convenient for pouring the milk into bottles. I actually pumped directly into the bag and then transferred the amount needed into a bottle. Then I would either refrigerate or freeze the remainder in the bag. The bag poured well into bottles. When frozen, the bag will freeze flat which is super helpful for storage. I thawed the bag either by running under warm water or overnight in the fridge, both ways worked great and there was no leakage. There were a few times where the bag leaked out the top while pouring, but it may have been because milk was not wiped off the seal. Overall I highly recommend these bags - I was very pleased with them! The zipper seems stronger than standard breastmilk storage bags which is great for freshness but I didn't realize how hard you had to press to seal the zipper so I spilled my first bag when I laid it down because it was not fully sealed. The bags are super easy to lock out air and stand up very well with milk in them. I did find the opening to be a little small for pouring milk in, I did miss a couple of times and spill some. The bags store nicely in the freezer, flat and easy to stack together in a row. I didn't have any leaks when thawing, which is a big plus. I've used another popular storage bag and often have leaks when thawing which is very frustrating. Overall, these bags seem like much better quality than other storage bags I've used. I think the thickness of the plastic and strength of the zipper are the top selling points of these bags because I feel like I am much less likely to have leaks and lose any of my milk. As a mom who both nurses and breastfeeds, I was enthusiastic to receive a product that could really benefit my nursing experience. What I found as some of the best qualities of the bag were its ability to stand upright while I transferred milk from my pump without accidental spilling, its large space for documenting the contents of the bag, and the double zip closure to avoid leaking when freezing and thawing for my little one. Furthermore, with a side-by-side refrigerator, my freezer space is limited, so I really enjoyed the bags ability to freeze flat as a way to conserve greater space. I found that when thawing the contents of the storage bags, that they seemed comparable in time to other bags that I have used. The opinions expressed are my own. This product has saved me and is one of the most reliable products I use on a daily basis. I am a full time working mom and, thus, I pump on a daily basis. My baby is exclusively fed with breast milk right now through a combination of breastfeeding and bottle feeding from just pumped or previously frozen breast milk. I love the features of the Medela storage bags. First, they are easy to use because they are free standing, which makes them easy to fill&mdash;even when I only have one hand available. Second, they easily allow me to transfer/pour the milk (after removing and warming from the freezer) to a bottle for my baby. Third, I love that they lay nicely in a flat manner so that I can store them easily and efficiently in my freezer. Fourth, the double locking system keeps the milk fresh and secure. I haven&rsquo;t had any issues with this product leaking after putting the product in the freezer or as I&rsquo;m trying to defrost/warm the milk. Fifth, I also appreciate that the product is completely sealed until you cut the top part to transfer breast milk into the product. Further, there is sufficient space to write the date and number of ounces in a manner that is quickly and easily seen later. Lastly, I am an over producer and sometimes wish that the bags were a bit larger and could fit more in them but I just use multiple bags per pumping session when needed. This really isn&rsquo;t a problem because it allows me to later defrost the milk in an amount the reduces the likelihood of any wasted milk. They are sturdy so I didn't have to worry about them falling over after filling. They also freeze flat so it saves so much room in my freezer! These milk storage bags were easy to use and durable. The plastic feels very sturdy. I was able to freeze the bags and thaw them without any leaks. I pump during the work day. These bags were easy to fill at my desk, and there were no spills. The bags lay flat for easy freezing and storage. I didn't fill them to the max because of the fact I normally store milk in smaller amounts of 2 or 4 oz. It was easy to transfer milk from a bottle to the bag and back again. The top portion can be ripped off easily instead of cutting which is great for opening them at work. The zipper was secure and didn't leak. They have the double zipper (necessary when storing liquid gold in my opinion), but the self standing feature was my favorite. I&rsquo;ve sadly spilled bags before but this definitely helped me lessen my clumsiness and made it easier to transfer milk for sure. I love that even though they will stand on their own you can also lie them flat for freezing. I had no problem using the bags this way and could also easily thaw and use. I also enjoyed the area for labelling the bags as this is required for many daycares (and a moms sanity). They definitely feel durable, and it was easy to transfer milk in and out. My favorite feature of this brand is the bags seem very thick and sturdy quality. Our freezer sometimes has a stale odor and despite several boxes of baking soda I always worry the milk will taste gross. The thickness of the bags make me wonder if it keeps more freshness in?
