The only experience I have with the Medela Organic Nipple Balm is as a pumping for bottle-feeding mom. Things I liked about this balm: - Great for the dry skin that comes from pumping. It left my skin not achy and feeling healthy for a couple pumping sessions after use. - Provides a small amount of lubrication during pumping. - It comes with a pump so there is more control over how much comes out. Also the pump is nice so you don&rsquo;t have to stick your finger in an open vat and make a mess all over your hands. - It is almost completely odorless. As someone who is very sensitive to artificial and strong smells it was a wonderful surprise to find a product that I could use and not get a headache from the scent. - It is organic and vegan. While this isn&rsquo;t a dealbreaker for me, it is a nice added perk for those who are looking for those qualities in their products. Things that could be improved: - While it&rsquo;s great for dry skin it leaves well moisturized skin (like the surrounding skin of the nipple) feeling on the greasy side. It did not stain my clothes, just left the weird feeling on my skin. - After the first use I stored the bottle standing on the cap as one would logically do given the design of the bottle and how the type text is laid out. Doing this some of the balm leaked out of the pump and into the cap. It was probably only &frac12; to 1 small drop&rsquo;s worth of product. It happens about once per 3-4 uses, so not every time. I don&rsquo;t know if this was a design flaw or just a defect in the one bottle I have. I absolutely hate greasy products that leave a ton of residue on my skin and make me feel like I can&rsquo;t put clothes on after. This soaked into my skin but still felt like a barrier of protection. We struggled to breastfeed and my nipples were cracked and irritated. This product was soothing and didn&rsquo;t cause any additional irritation. I immediately went to use to after feeding and/or pumping for relief. There was no burning to the skin areas that were cracked and no strange sensations. I love that it&rsquo;s organic and vegan and I didn&rsquo;t need to shower or scrub it off before feeding my son or pumping! Scrubbing off a product just causes more irritation! The pump top is definitely more convenient than most products that come in a jar. There&rsquo;s no digging your fingers in or fumbling with packaging. This one is definitely a solid choice! Also, the all organic vegan ingredients in it made me feel confident when using it with my newborn, best of all it is Lanolin-free. Lastly, I really love the pump application. It&rsquo;s the perfect smoothness without being to thick or too watery. It does an amazing job of providing relief to sore nipples and chapped skin, without being sticky or making a mess of your fingers like others you can&rsquo;t seem to wash off. I didn&rsquo;t know what I&rsquo;d think of the airless pump at first, as all the previous ones I&rsquo;ve tried in a normal tube had worked fine. I received it from the Stellar Product Testing Panel at the perfect time, and began using it on day one. I love that the ingredients are natural and organic, but most importantly it actually worked. It was effective to heal the cracks that formed at the beginning, and continued to help prevent further damage. I was happy to know that I didn't need to wipe it off before the baby could breastfeed; there's no time for that when a baby is hungry! The airless pump worked great, and because of the way the lid is designed to be at the bottom when the tube is stored, the balm itself was always at the top of the pump, meaning I'll be able to use every drop instead of trying to get the last bit from the bottom of the tube. It was also simple to operate the pump one-handed while holding the baby. The Organic Nipple Balm came right in time when I delivered my baby. God knows how I suffer in first week of breastfeeding. It is something special but for me, at the beginning, something very painful too. I always get sore and cracked nipples until few weeks pass and everything start to feel normal. This balm helped me heal faster. Last pregnancy I used some type of cream that I needed to clean before feeding my baby. With this nipple balm I love that it is safe for my baby and I don&rsquo;t have to remember if I cleaned my nipples before feeding my baby or not. The ingredients are organic and vegan and it contains olive oil and calendula which are great for skin and making it feel great. It gets a little fragrance from calendula, in my opinion, when you smell it but nothing overpowering. It is almost clear and it&rsquo;s airless pump is amazing. The contamination is out of question and I can choose how much I want to pump. If you press like regular pump, it pumps little bit more than pea size which is a lot for just one nipple. So press it lightly and it will pump just enough. Little goes a long way. With cracked nipples, I just wish it can work instantly so I won&rsquo;t be in pain but it takes a day or two to see nice results. My skin was rejuvenated after using this balm. It felt softer. I also used it on my hands which were very rough and dry from constant washing my hands while in hospital. And it worked great. So, this is not just for usage for the beginning of breastfeeding but can also be used throughout the year for your skin elsewhere. My only complaint is that it can leave residue on clothes and it doesn&rsquo;t absorb quickly. I had to use pads in my bra so it doesn&rsquo;t leave residue on my bra. Every other over the counter product I&rsquo;ve tried has done very little to help with the problem, and I suffered for months to feed my older babies. With this nipple balm the difference was almost immediate. After just a few uses my skin seemed almost completely healed. I haven&rsquo;t had cracked or bloody skin since starting to use it, and no more painful nursing sessions. It&rsquo;s definitely a staple in my nursery feeding station, within reach of the rocking chair. It works so well! I don&rsquo;t typically seek out vegan or organic ingredients, but I&rsquo;m definitely more particular when it involves my newborn. I was excited by how clean the product is and felt comfortable knowing it was safe for her. The airless pump was also a nice feature because I wasn&rsquo;t constantly sticking my fingers into the same container, which never felt very sanitary. It does however push out a lot of product, so the first few times I used it I ended up covered in the balm which is pretty greasy. I liked that it was organic so it had good products in it to start for me and the baby. I&rsquo;ve used other similar products which have tinted the pads I was using where this one did not and that made me feel better about what I was putting on my body and exposing my baby to. It did make my baby&rsquo;s face break out at first but I do think that was due to the reusable cloth pads I was using. Once I switched to disposable ones, no reaction. It felt good and moisturizing on my body and I loved that it was more of an oil rather than a cream or balm.
