I found this product was very easy to use and applied very smoothly. It was easy to apply a thin coat on the nipple after breastfeeding. It eased my mind that this product is made from natural ingredients so if my baby was cluster feeding, I wasn&rsquo;t worried about whether or not it was safe for her to ingest. This cream made a difference within the first few applications. It soothes my skin just as well as other brands I&rsquo;ve tried, but I find it a bit hard to squeeze from the tube and apply. I received this product for free as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel and the delivery person left it on my step without notifying me. I&rsquo;m not sure if the thicker consistency is due to the fact that the product was frozen when I received it. This lanolin is also a bit yellow in colour and I find it transfers onto my clothing (bra and breast pads). It is by far the best lanolin nipple cream that I've ever used. I feel confident in saying this as I'm currently 3 weeks postpartum with my second who is exclusively breastfed just as my first was. I wish I had this cream when my first was born, because nursing was so painful and it took me a long time to find a cream that provided any sort of relief. Purelan Lanolin is incredibly easy to apply and provides a great barrier as your nipples are recovering between feeds in those early days. This cream is thick enough to provide soothing relief, but can be applied with little to no effort. Some lanolin creams are so thick that you have to warm the cream between your fingers in order to apply, but that's not the case with Purelan. Additionally, Medela suggest that Purelan can be applied to other dry areas of your body which is 100% true. I recently applied this product to my cracked, dry hands overnight and it provided instant relief. This product is a little greasy, so I wouldn't suggest applying it to your hands during the day, but it worked wonders overnight and I won't hesitate to use it for my hands in the future. I was very excited to use it as I&rsquo;m new to breastfeeding and the learning process has been quite painful for me. The fact that it contains 100% all natural ingredients was a bonus, but not something I necessarily look for when shopping. My first impression was that the cream looked and felt exactly like the Medela Tender Care lanolin cream I had already been using. The texture of the cream is thick and quite sticky. It is definitely necessary to wash your hands after applying or they will be sticky and leave grease stains on everything you touch. Unfortunately, I found this out the hard way after ruining several white camis. As far as effectiveness, it seems to work just okay. While I did feel an immediate cooling sensation that brought some relief, I still experienced some soreness and my nipples remained cracked looking despite days of repeated application. Overall, this lanolin cream does not seem any better or worse than others I&rsquo;ve tried. As a breastfeeding and pumping mom, I have tried a variety of different products to prevent cracked or damaged nipples. I like lanolin products for their moisturizing quality and also for their &ldquo;durability&rdquo; in water- applying it before a shower helps reduce nipple sensitivity from the water pressure. The Purelan lanolin is no exception; it is very soothing and moisturizing and caused no issues with my sensitive skin. The only downside I found to the Purelan lanolin was the consistency- it comes out of the tube very thick, and requires a good deal of heat/manipulation with my fingertips to make the consistency thin enough to spread easily on my skin (especially when it&rsquo;s particularly raw). But, the thicker consistency actually makes the Purelan lanolin ideal for using to lubricate the flanges of my breast pump, and that is what I have come to primarily use it for. I only gave it 3 stars because lanolin has a very specific scent that I&rsquo;ve found I&rsquo;m extra sensitive to during pregnancy and immediately after giving birth. The product is great but the scent makes it my second choice.
