The milk stopper and lid were also high quality and protected milk from spills. I definitely knocked the bottle over a few times in my haste and not a drop of milk was lost. The collector was easy to clean and I loved that the stopper was yellow and easy to spot amongst all my bottle supples. This collector also felt very comfortable to wear. I was so thrilled to give this one a try because I&rsquo;ve tried 4 other brands of the silicone Breastmilk collectors and none of them have impressed me. Sure they&rsquo;ve all &ldquo;worked&rdquo;, but not in a way that I&rsquo;d hope for. To start - I love that this one has a suction cup bottom. Hands down my favorite feature if all time.it has another feature that I&rsquo;ve never see in any other collector before and it&rsquo;s a lanyard type neck strap so when you&rsquo;re nursing on one side and collecting milk on the other and your baby kicks it off of you the milk doesn&rsquo;t go shooting all over the place. It just falls straight down and hangs without losing any of the precious liquid gold. The other accessories it comes with are the plug and cap. Both work well and I&rsquo;ve also used them at the same time mainly to see if they fit together and they in fact do! So double milk protection. Love it! Some other things I love about the silicone collectors are that they&rsquo;re hands free. You just suction it on before a nursing session and at any point you can just pop it off and set it down. It&rsquo;s not like a pump with all of the wires and mess. Super simple, super easy to use, and you don&rsquo;t lose any precious milk. I fill this collector up every time I nurse. I suction it to the opposite side and with every letdown (when I would usually fill up multiple nursing pads and burp cloths with milk that streams out) it just goes straight into the collector and then I have a whole bottle to fill for my baby for the next feeding. This little device is great for catching the letdown from the opposite side and I've achieved most of my freezer stash during my maternity leave this way! The silicone is super soft and makes it easy and comfortable to place. I love that it has a suction base and 2 options for preventing spills. I honestly haven't tried the lanyard, mostly because my little one gets very hangry very quickly and I just haven't had the time. Especially since I would have to remove it to wash it between uses. My only (very mild) criticisms would be that the lid is next to impossible to place one-handed, even with good suction from the base, and the measurement markings are hard to read when there is milk. I didn&rsquo;t know about any collectors at the time. With my third I tried one and liked it but didn&rsquo;t love certain features of it. After trying the Medela Silicone Breastmilk Collector I&rsquo;ll definitely be recommending it to breastfeeding moms! I absolutely love the neck strap. It&rsquo;s easy to attach to the collector and the clip allows you to take it off without going over your head. That means you also don&rsquo;t have to readjust the length every time. The neck strap will absolutely stop the collector from spilling if it happens to lose suction on your breast. I really love the suction on the bottom of the collector. It works extremely well! The stopper and lid are also essential in my opinion. The stopper makes sure there is a good seal once you&rsquo;re done using it to avoid any spillage. We mamas know how sad it is to spill breastmilk! I absolutely love the lid. After cleaning the collector (which is super easy to do!) I put the lid on to avoid getting any dust or particles inside of the collector and I feel completely confident that it&rsquo;s clean and ready to go for the next time! It does take some getting used to and making sure you get good suction and positioning. The football hold of a newborn would make this much easier to use to avoid baby&rsquo;s legs or body being in the way. But, I do prefer the cradle hold and I am able to make it work! The only negative thing I&rsquo;ll say is that Medela did take this product from a company called Haakaa I believe but I researched and found that Lansinoh makes this too so not sure who was the first company to come out with it. But the Medela Breastmilk Collector is a genius type of product. It suctions into the opposite breast that you are not feeding from and collects the milk from that side while you nurse. The lanyard that comes with it can be used around your neck to give you a hands free experience. But my favorite feature is the little yellow stopper and lid!! These keep you from losing any milk when you&rsquo;re trying to transfer baby and hold the milk collector at the same time. You can also pop the stopper in, and while the milk collector is still around your neck place baby in a crib. These feature are awesome. I even tilted upside down to see would any of my milk leak out and it did not!!! The lid allows you to put the entire milk collector in the refrigerator and keep it stored until you can freeze it. That is really killer. The lanyard is also helpful since I always have too many things to carry everywhere. However, I was disappointed with the flange of the collector itself. It just didn't suction itself onto me properly. This is in contrast to my collector from another brand, where I truly get a hands-free experience (I think because the flange is a little bigger). But maybe that's just me! This is a simple to use little milk collector, but the addition of the lanyard is a great idea. I've had collectors before and it's very frustrating when they pop off and go flying. The lanyard is the simple fix to this problem. It stays securely upright even if it gets kicked by a squirmy baby because its secured to your neck. I also like the little yellow stopper that comes with it. This is a much easier way to cover the milk than the large white cover. I had trouble keeping the white one on and quickly discarded that one for the yellow stopper. The suction cup bottom didn't really suction well to my wooden table, but it might be better with a different finished table. With the yellow stopper I felt confident it wouldn't spill even if it tipped over though. Medela added features to fix all of these issues! The lanyard keeps baby from kicking it off and spilling the milk everywhere; the suction cup sticks it to side tables and counters; and the stopper and lid keep it from spilling and keep it fresh in the fridge! I so wish this was available for the past seven years! My favorite feature is the lanyard, as the suction can release if it gets too full, baby bumps it, or is just slips, but the lanyard keeps it upright and in place. It also has a quick release, so there's no worry of little ones getting hurt; it snaps with minor pressure as needed. The quality of the silicone is top notch. It suctions great and washes easily. While baby is nursing from one side just place it on the other breast and it catches all the milk from the letdown. I have gotten an extra 1-4oz of milk extra to freeze after every nursing session! At first I was worried my babies feet might kick it off and I would lose all of that milk but the suction on it is so great and it does not fall off easily. My favorite feature is the leak-proof proof stopper and lid. I am clumsy so having these gives me security that I won't spill any milk. Some other milk collectors have been painful or unproductive in their purpose. With the Medela milk collector, this was not the case!! It was SUPER comfortable with a snug and secure fit. I didn't have any aggravated nipple problems afterward and the entire collection process was comfortable and way less stressful. I have an oversupply and this collector held all the extra I pumped off without any problems. I love the suction base because with others I have accidentally bumped a surface and lost all the collected milk - with the Medela one I have had no issues because of the suction base! The lid and stopper are both super secure and kept from losing a single drop! I definitely put the stopper in and turned the thing upside down and shook pretty hard (I have a 2-year-old so it was going to get tested either way!) I wasn't super crazy about the neck strap but I think it will be nice to strap into one of the clips in my diaper backpack. I have been able to save over 50 ounces so far with this collector in just the past couple of weeks!
