Although I was initially worried that the small motor may not be powerful enough, it proved me wrong when I was able to pump almost 6oz within 15-20 minutes. The pump is easy-to-use, quiet, and I love that I can use it hands free and away from any outlets. The shield was quite comfortable, even though it was slightly to large for me. The pump only comes with one size of breast shield and that might be its only downfall. It charges very quickly and the battery lasts long enough for multiple sessions. Lastly, my absolute favourite part of the pump was how easy it is to clean. SO EASY! I cannot wait to bring this pump with me on weekend getaways and family trips. Pumping about 5 minutes per side yielding a nice amount. I still used the Hakka on the opposite side to prevent any losses. I almost prefer this pump to my double simply because I can easily massage with my free hand while pumping. Easy to clean (like majority of Madela pumps). I would definitely recommend this as a single pump over the swing! While typically this pump could be used as a supplemental pump, it has stolen my heart and I now use it as my primary pump. With the Solo I am no longer stuck to being plugged into the wall as it has the ability to be rechargeable so you can pump on the go. The output is amazing and I was able to pump more ounces in a shorter amount of time then my primary pump even. My favorite feature of this pump is how few pieces it has to wash and clean. The design is so nice and user friendly that assembling and dissembling no longer takes me a couple minutes, it&rsquo;s done in a few seconds. I absolutely love my Medela Solo. As always Medela's suction didn't disappoint, using the right sized flange is key but my output never suffered, which is an issue I've experienced with other single pumps. The design is sleek, and being able to wash the parts without needing to use a tooth pick to get into hidden nooks and crannies was a sanity saver! Any busy mom knows how time consuming repeatedly washing pump parts can be, and having something so easy to take care of makes such a difference in my outlook on pumping - because the upkeep isn't hanging over my head. There are so many great things to say about this breast pump. Simply put it is my new favourite. It is super portable which makes it my go to for traveling and it works well with all my hands free pumping bras. The breast sheild is so much more comfortable than the older style Medela ones. I really loved how easy it was to use. I even used it in the dark without turning on lights to figure out buttons. Though my two year old also really enjoyed how easy it was to use and I would find it on and running randomly. There were numerous occasions where our two year old would turn it on and my husband who was near by couldn't even hear that it was on so it is definitely quieter than any other pumps I've tried. My life is already busy enough running after three kids so the fact that there were minimal pieces to clean and put back together each use was a huge bonus! Another bonus was that it works with my other brand bottles. So I could choose to use the bottle that came with it or just one that I already had on hand. However there were a couple aspects that I would change if I could. The primary being that I would love if it was even more portable. Maybe a clip on the actual pump that I could attach to my clothing so that it is easier to pump and go. I would also love some sort of storage bag so that I can keep all of my pumping supplies together better when traveling. Additionally the flashing light during the initial let down stage is particularly blinding in the dark but that easily remedied by just placing a cloth over it. Overall I really loved this breast pump and while I still prefer a double breast pump. So when I received the Medela SOLO pump as a part of the Stellar Product testing Panel, I was excited for it's small size (it fits in my purse - not just my diaper bag, a REAL purse!), it's easy charging, the long battery life and that I can charge by USB on the go. It's also so quiet that I can pump on one side while nursing on the other side. Game-changer. My only complaint is that, because it's a single pump, it's not as convenient as my double pump when I am needing to stock my freezer, or when I'm away from my baby for more than an evening but it's so convenient that I love it as my on-the-go pump. I have pumped while out, in a side room, using this and it was so easy and convenient. Honestly this pump is amazing. I don't have to spend a lot of time pumping and this makes it so easy. I've used it sitting in the Costco parking lot, riding home in the car (don't panic, I wasn't driving, but honestly probably could have) and at a wedding. And it's Medela, so of course you know it's AMAZING! I have a double electric pump that I use regularly for my 5 month old, and was looking for a pump that was more portable and easier to use while completing chores around the house. This pump met that need! It's just as efficient at pumping as my other pump, but much simpler to put together and clean due to it having just a few pieces to assemble. It's great that it's rechargeable and can be used without being tethered to an outlet. I wish it had a clip or some way of attaching to my body when I wasn't wearing pants with large enough pockets to hold it, that would make the portability even better. I also found that the large, easy to use buttons, were also easy to accidentally hit when the pump was in my pocket, causing the pumping to pause when I didn't want it to. I own a Medela Freestyle (double) pump and have been using it since my son was born. When I was given an opportunity to try this new pump from Medela, I said to myself, why not. Having one stationed at home, and designating an extra one for the road sounded like a pretty good idea. I have to say the decision to try this pump was an excellent one. The efficiency of the pump is equivalent to my main pump (Freestyle), if not better. Also the portability, size and the lightweight of the product is very comparable to the Freestyle as well. There are fewer pieces to clean and assemble (by the way, the assembly is so easy), which I love about this pump as well. I use this pump about once a day, and it needs to be charged on a weekly basis. It has a type C USB charging port, so it charges amazingly fast. Also, I can just use my phone charger, which is another added bonus. It has very few buttons and it is quite intuitive. I did not really have to read the manual to figure out how to use the machine. The best part is how small and compact this machine is. It is very easy to carry around in my bag, and even fits in my jacket pocket. (See photos for the size! It is smaller than my hand, and all the parts, including the pump itself, fits in a small make-up bag!) The only thing I do not like about this pump is the fact that it is a single pump. I tried using it while breastfeeding my child, but pumping while breastfeeding is just not an easy task. The reason I give 4 stars is because it is a single pump. The pump does a wonderful job at expressing breastmilk quietly and efficiently. I have used it at night with my partner and children were sleeping, and have yet to wake someone! I found it easy and straightforward to use and that it can last a few pumping sessions between charges. Cleaning is simplified as the parts come part and can be sterilized easily. The large size of the parts makes the cleaning less tedious. It saves me time and energy which is essential when you are pumping multiple times in a day like I do! I loved that it is easily charged in multiple locations. I even hooked it&rsquo;s USB charging cable into my laptop and car to charge! A disadvantage for me was that there is no timer. I currently pump on one side for 10 mins maximum, and then switch to the other. I did manage to get around this by using my phone timer or just keeping my eyes on the clock. I found the Solo very simple to use, the buttons are very straightforward and the machine itself it very lightweight. I found it handy to use on one breast while feeding from the other which helped supplement my &ldquo;freezer stash&rdquo; but also helped with a period of low supply I was going through. The charge holds very well - I could get a few uses from it before having to recharge. It is quieter than my Freestyle (though I&rsquo;ve never taken issue with the noise anyways) and incredibly compact. It breaks down very easily and I would just run the parts through my dishwasher when I was done with it for the day. In between used same day a soak in hot soapy water then a wipe and rinse was all I found it needed. I never had any liquid back up into the tubing so did not feel the need to do anything more than occasionally rinse it. If you&rsquo;re looking for an inexpensive and low profile pump that can be used casually then I would highly recommend this one. This is nice if you&rsquo;re pumping with your baby on the other breast. - The intuitive two phase let down worked well for me, and the pump was easy to get started with. - Dishwasher safe and easy to take apart/reassemble. - The flexible edge on the flange was a nice feature for comfort and a better seal. Cons: - No timer. This was the biggest negative for me since I tend to pump for a set length of time instead of pumping a specific number of ounces. - Only comes with one size flange and one bottle. It has a built in rechargeable battery, so I don't been to plug it in while using. It is SOOOOOO quite. It has the 2 different suctions settings that all medela pumps tend to have. It comes with the new comfort fit flang that is very comportable. The suction is comparable to the other medela pumps I have tried. There is no digital display, so you need to just be aware what level you are at and how long you have been pumping, as there is no way to lo9k at the pump and see. You get one bottle, one flange and one connector. This is why this is better as a secondary pump. If this is your only pump, you would probably have to buy more bottles. There is also no sort of carrying case included. If a new mom asked me for a recommendation for a pump, I would suggest this one if they didn't want to commit to a more expensive pump before baby came, and they were having a singleton. If it was a twin mom to be, I would suggest a double electric pump, as I pumped A LOT more with my twins than my singleton, and would have not had the time to use a single pump. This is a great pump to take to go, and to try to see if you will be Pumping, but I don't think it would work as your only pump if you are more than a casual pumper. I hate lugging a whole package of pump parts with me to work, so this was so simple, not at all intimidating, and kind of stylish too since it matched my cute sushi-themed mask. The picture I took is literally all I bring to work. It all fits in my bag! I love it! And yes, it all fits in that little blue pouch that I found kicking around the house. I don&rsquo;t carry the wall charger though. I just charge it with my laptop at work when I need to. So easy! Full disclosure, I just had a bout of shingles (NO FUN). The rash was all across one side of my chest right around my breasts. Having shingles is PAINFUL. Having the rash right by my chest meant that I did not want my little toddler, his grabby hands, and wiggly body anywhere near my breasts. I usually use this pump at work, but because of shingles I started pumping even at home. I loved using this around the house. I want to say I was productive and did the chores or something with this on, but let&rsquo;s be honest, pumping is my excuse to sit around and watch Netflix.
