The Medela Swing Maxi has been such a game changer for our pumping sessions. I would use this breast pump any day over ANY other pump because of how effective and efficient it is. I get the highest milk collection I have ever had using this pump! With my previous breast pumps, I would get 2oz maximum per breast, which really isn&rsquo;t much and way less than my baby needs. With the Medela Swing Maxi, I am getting 3 oz minimum per breast, but I normally get more in the 3.5-4 oz. range! This has been a HUGE time saver as I am getting double or over my normal amount per session. I have actually been able to cut my daily pumping sessions in half. This allows me to spend more time with my family and has allowed me to be more productive at work as I only have been pumping once daily while there. This pump has so many amazing parts and features. One of my absolute favorite features is that you have the ability to pause a session. This has been so helpful and useful for me. I have 3 children under 3, so having a session not be interrupted would be extremely rare. I have been able to tend to my family without having to completely restart a session, like I&rsquo;ve had to do in the past with my previous pumps. The size of this pump is really unbelievable. It really holds its own for how small it is. Even the charger is small, it&rsquo;s the same size as an iPhone charger, which is so nice! I love that you can still pump when charging if needed too, which I for sure have! The comfort of this pump can really not be beat. The shields are so soft and mold perfectly to your breast. There is nothing more uncomfortable than the typical hard plastic shields that dig into your breasts causing discomfort and pain. I believe the comfort really helps with the higher milk production because I&rsquo;m not in pain and not stressed thinking about how sore I will be after a session. One accessory I actually didn&rsquo;t even know existed but now couldn&rsquo;t live without, are the bottle stands. I don&rsquo;t even want to think about how much milk I&rsquo;ve lost in the past from my freshly filled bottles tipping over before disconnecting from the tubing. No more lost milk here! The bottles won&rsquo;t budge when they are on the stands. I am absolutely obsessed with the Medela Swing Maxi. Pumping with my previous babies would&rsquo;ve been much more successful if I had this breast pump. The Medela Swing Maxi is an absolute MUST HAVE for any mama planning to breastfeed their little one. I received the Swing Maxi as a part of the Stellar Product Testing panel. It allows you to be free from the wall, chargers quickly, and uses a universal charging cable. It is not silent, but much quieter then the pervious model. It also has very good suction, which can be a challenge with pumps not attached to the wall. Unfortunately, it is not as practical as it could be. It uses the old flanges and requires a special bra. The flanges underneath your clothing are comber some and the pump does not come with a clothing clip. It is a bit too large to put in your pocket, so you have to hold it by that tie. I also found that when I cleaned the parts, often times water would get into tubing. I can even wear a sweater over it and move about my classroom with ease. There are very few parts to wash which is awesome! I used the app a couple times. This pump came at the perfect time for me as I was preparing for an upcoming trip and didn&rsquo;t want to drag a large pump with me while traveling. The swing maxi is small but mighty! The pump is small and easy to use for travel while still providing plenty of suction to get out the same amount of milk other pumps would for me. It was very easy to use and clean. I also loved being able to connect it to the Medela app to track pumping sessions and record how much milk I was pumping. The pump also comes with a small backpack that is perfect for travel or working moms to bring the pump to work. I use this pump everyday at work now and love how convenient and easy it is. I was able to use it at work and had the freedom to move around but still pumped as effectively as I did with the hospital grade pump. The pump is quiet and it&rsquo;s great that it can operate while charging. It holds a charge well but realizing I forgot to charge it when it was time to pump had me in a panic until I realized it could do both at the same time! The bag that comes with it is nice, but honestly not very intuitive about what should be put in what compartment and it doesn&rsquo;t feel like it was made specifically for the pump. The Medela app is a nice way to keep track of your freezer supply and how often and how long you&rsquo;re pumping if that is something you&rsquo;re interested in doing. The flanges had a flexible ring around the outside that was comfortable against my skin. The entire system is small enough to throw into any bag, simple to use and is great for road trips. However, I did not find that this pump had enough suction, resulting in poor collection. I&rsquo;ve always been a big fan of Medela and their battery operated pumps. The Swing Max takes the convenience that much further. It&rsquo;s super light and very easy to recharge with the usb cord. I feel like Medela went above and beyond with the ease to reassembly all the pieces after cleaning. The ability to get a good seal with the breast pump pieces is so much easier than past models! I also really enjoyed the ability to use the app to track my output. I have been in the position in the past where tracking every ounce consumed and every ounce pumped was a huge undertaking! Where was this app eight years ago?! Having all that information in the app and in addition to educational information would have been a lifesaver. I feel very fortunate to have that this time around, but I also understand the value it can be for other moms. Lastly, my favorite thing has to be that no spill bases! I really feel like it is a solid 4.5 stars...almost there. What I love the most about this pump is that it is small enough to be portable, but still powerful enough to get the job done. It was able to fit the pump motor into most of my sweater/jacket pockets which made it truly hands free. It is also really quiet compared to my big, plug into the wall, bowling ball pump. I was able to produce a similar amount of milk while moving around and getting things done...yay! The pump was intuitive to use and easy to clean. It also came with a nice little backpack that holds all of the pump parts with plenty of room to spare for snacks or diaper bag necessities. Now onto my minor criticisms. I am not always wearing pockets or sometimes have smaller pockets, so I wish there was some sort of clip to secure the pump onto belt loops/waistbands or a larger loop of fabric on the pump so that I could slip it onto my wrist. After being able to be completely hands free I am spoiled and want it all the time. Second, I wish there was more of a display built into the pump. I did download the Medela Family app, but found it to be a little buggy with connectivity, so I haven't continued to use it. It would be really nice to be able to see things like timer and pump power settings right on the pump without needing the app or if the app could be a bit more reliable. Overall the pump does its job effectively and quietly, and the criticisms are minor comfort issues. The Medela Swing Maxi is a game changer and has allowed me the freedom of pumping without having to be plugged into the wall. The greatest feature of this pump is the fact that you can pump anywhere! I&rsquo;m able to pump while cooking dinner, playing with my kids and even in the car. The pump itself is small and lightweight; it fits in the palm of my hand. It is a powerful pump and my supply has not changed compared to other electric pumps I have used. One things I wish was different were the flanges. You have to use a pumping bra. I wish the flange/collecting system was more discrete and could be worn under your clothes. I get very cold sitting in a pumping bra. The pump is easy to put together and take apart. Clean up is simple as well. There are four parts per side to clean. The pump connects with the Medela Family app. This has been very helpful with tracking my output and the oz I have in my stockpile. You can even chat with a Medela employee and ask questions about pumping/breastfeeding and the device. The Medela brand is what I used in the hospital when both my babies where born so I knew it would be the trusted brand to go with for my everyday pumping. The Swing Maxi is super easy to assemble and take apart to clean. It has less parts then any other pump I have used before meaning less parts to clean and replace! That saves valuable time and money down the road. I really love that the bottles are all enclosed so that while you are pumping, you can move around and not have to worry about spilling any milk. One of the best parts to the pump are the flanges! The flex personal fit flanges are the most comfortable flanges I have ever used. While there is a lot of positives with this pump, there were also a few misses for me. First, I&rsquo;m not sure what the loop strap is for but a belt type clip would be way more convenient. Also while the flanges were extremely comfortable, they send size 24 and 21 with the pump so I had to order the larger size before I could try the pump out. One of the biggest things was that there was no way to tell what level suction the pump was set to. There are no indicator lights or gauges at all. I guess had to guess what level I was adjusting to but didn&rsquo;t really know if I was setting it to the same level each time or not. I think the biggest miss for me is since I have now used the type of pump that fits into my current bra, there just is no going back. The hassle of taking off my bra and putting on another bra to be hands free as well as having bottles hanging down without really being able to cover up is just not preferable. Other features I like are: the flanges and suction/vibration are both comfortable, the pump comes with 2 flange size options to ensure the perfect fit, the connectors have a rounded shape allowing for more discrete coverage under a shirt and easy cleaning, one primary connector tube into the pump to eliminate tube tangles, the let down/expression phase automatically triggers after a minute making it easy to use, it&rsquo;s quiet and it comes with a great carrying backpack (for storage and to wear during use). Another feature that is nice but I did not personally use much is the ability to connect the pump to blue tooth in order to use the Medela app to track pumping sessions as well as track other things (bottles, diapers, sleep, etc). The pump did not consistently link to the app, however, and the app was not intuitive or simple to use - both of which led me to not bother using the app. One major thing I&rsquo;d change is the fact that the connectors leak milk when tilted near horizontally, such as when I bend over to pick something up off the floor, pick up my child or open a low cabinet. This has happened multiple times and I&rsquo;ve lost about 2 ounces of precious milk each time while also creating a mess on the floor and my clothes. I like this pump because it&rsquo;s small and portable, allowing me to accomplish other things while pumping, however, this feature really limits my ability to do that and is a main reason why I do not love this pump. I would also suggest providing a carabiner to hook onto the loop of the pump so that moms can easily clip the pump onto their clothing or pumping bra, making this even more portable. I have trialed putting the pump in the backpack and wearing the backpack while pumping, however, I prefer hooking the carabiner. Overall, I recommend this Medela Swing Maxi pump for its portability and size. I&rsquo;d give it 5 stars once the connector design is modified to prevent leaking. I appreciate it when baby products are easy to clean especially if I am hand washing and this pump was definitely easy to clean! I didn't need any special tools to get in crevices or anything like that. All pieces disassembled well. I just used my dish sponge and a bottle cleaner. The most impressive piece to clean was the nice-sized yellow valve piece! The valves are usually my least favorite part because they are so small and the valve with this pump was too big to lose in all the dishwashing chaos, which is helpful! As far as pumping goes, I'm not sure how efficient this pump was at pumping my milk. It seemingly wasn't doing well, but I also had medical problems during time of testing so that would be hard to rate. I was able to pump with some freedom, although I would have liked to have a band or something to hold the pump base as I'm doing tasks around the house. It was great for travling in the car but it wasn't the best if you were moving around even with a pumping bra. If you don't mind picking up and setting the base of the pump from time to time and you're looking for an easy to clean pump and a cute backpack with lots of room for storage, this is your pump. It&rsquo;s easy to assemble, charge, and use. However, it&rsquo;s missing a huge component of being able to move freely about.. a hook. It has a small loop but honestly it&rsquo;s pretty pointless because you can&rsquo;t attach it to anything. I&rsquo;m not sure what the thinking was behind this design because though the pump itself is small and easily portable, it still requires to be held while moving around which I think really takes away from an A+ design. I suppose hands free wasn&rsquo;t the goal of this one. I also was underwhelmed with the output it gave. Even on the highest setting I got nothing. I had to use the letdown function every time. This was really disappointing because I was really hopeful. Originally I liked the simplicity of there not being a ton of buttons but the more I used the pump, the more I realized how much I missed them. I also found the app to be less than desirable. If I don&rsquo;t have it open the entire time I&rsquo;m using the pump, it disconnects. It&rsquo;s also completely manual so you still have to put in the oz pumped each time. I just wish it were a bit more advanced and intuitive. Overall, this wasn&rsquo;t the pump for me. I hated pumping with my first baby and was dreading it even more once I found out I was pregnant with my second. I have a VERY active two and a half year old boy and could not imagine being tied to a wall to pump multiple times a day. I even considered buting a wearable pump, but they are so expensive and I have heard mixed reviews about their efficiency in expressing milk. I used a Medela pump the first time around and trust the brand, so I was thrilled to get the opportunity to try this one out. It did not disappoint! I am able to easily pump while walking around the house, doing household chores and playing with my son. It also effectively pumps just as much milk as a traditional pump, possibly even more! I love using the app, too, since it makes it really easy to track when I last pumped and/or adjust the settings on the pump while pumping. Cleaning a pump is always such a pain, but this one is super easy to clean and doesn't have a bunch of tiny parts to lose. I love that you can feel the pump working, but it isn't uncomfortable. I can easily adjust the power from either the pump or my phone and it's very quiet and discreet. It also holds a charge really well! This pump is so small but don&rsquo;t let it&rsquo;s small size fool you, it does a great job! I&rsquo;ve tried a few pumps before this one in my breastfeeding journey and have honestly loved this one the most. Right away they provide you with 2 flanges size so you can get the best fit. The suction is so gentle yet very effective. I was able to pump much more comfortably than I had with other pumps. I love how small the pump itself is, it&rsquo;s not heavy or bulky but still works great. The battery allows for mobility while pumping but I wish it came with a lanyard or clip rather than a small loop. The pump parts are easy to clean, come apart easily and are quick to reassemble. I already use the Medela family app and it was fairly easy to connect the pump through Bluetooth to track your pumping sessions right into the app. It did disconnect and reconnect a few times but that didn&rsquo;t appear to hinder tracking properly. I do like how it automatically records without having to manually enter. This pump is so great because the tubing has the option to single pump built right in. And bonus it comes with a backpack to hold the pump, all it&rsquo;s parts and cords, with space to add in some personal items as well! The battery charge lasts giving the flexibility to pump a full work day on the go- I pumped a total of 6 sessions averaging 10 minutes each and a combination of single and double before recharging my battery which was only depleted to 50%. Although it is not discrete it is the perfect option for those of us who need to pump without an outlet (I.e. in your car) but still want a traditional flange set up and Medela controls (hello no learning curve!). The Swing Maxi is easy to clean traditional bottles and flanges. You can pump and feed right from the same bottle. The Medela family app pairs with this pump to track pumping time and you can manually add sides, amounts, and other details-perfect if you wish to track that stuff. It is a closed system, which means that milk will not be sucked into the pump, which makes it more hygenic. It is well packaged and effective when pumping, since I can move around while pumping. This pump has a yellow vibrant color and I absolutely love the portability of the pump. It claims to pump about 11% more efficiently but I'm not sure if that's true for me as I did not see any increase during my pumping sessions, but I did notice it to be faster with the output. It does feel like a hospital grade pump, and I was able to complete my session on a high setting, without hurting. I do wish it had a screen to see what level you are when pumping or how long you've been pumping for. However, the medela app more than makes up for it. I like that the amount of parts didn't change as I am very familiar with Medela pumps after using 2 others before this. I have the Medela app, and it was easy to connect this pump. It saved all my sessions and even interchanged between pumps when I used my other medela pump. It was quite flawlwss with that. With my first baby, I exclusively pumped for 9mo and used a bunch of different pumps. Now, 6mo in with my second baby, I&rsquo;m nursing and pumping as I&rsquo;ve returned to work. I absolutely love the Medela Swing Maxi! It&rsquo;s comfortable to pump and is very efficient at emptying me quickly at each pump. The pump is also pretty quiet. Quiet enough that I&rsquo;ve pumped during conference calls. Being battery powered, the freedom to pump anywhere is great. It&rsquo;s super easy to charge via USB-C and I don&rsquo;t need to carry yet ANOTHER cable on me to charge. Woohoo! One of my favorite features is the combined membrane and valve! One less part to wash and keep track of. I only wish Medela would sell the yellow piece individually to there is less material waste. The membrane/valve should be replaced periodically but the hard plastic neck doesn&rsquo;t need to be replaced until broken. The Medela app is great if you want to track your milk stash or output. With my first baby, I would have used these features religiously. But second baby&hellip; life is a little different. The app does have a few bugs when connecting to the Swing Maxi but all of your pump data is kept on your pump and transferred when you connect to the app. Overall, I would totally recommend this pump to anyone. I felt like I was definitely able to get more breastmilk when using this pump as compared to my other two breast pumps I have used over the years. The pump suction is great without being too aggressive and thus painful. My absolute favorite part about the whole thing, though, is how EASY it is to clean. I love that you feel like you can get into every nook and cranny while cleaning the pump parts, so you feel good about it actually being clean! The portability of the system is super nice, too. Very easy (and my now preferred pump) to bring to work, especially with the trendy little backpack it comes with it Unfortunately I wasn't able to download the Medela Family app for unknown reasons, however from the previews of it, it does look like a great all-in-one app for all things newborn baby and tracking all of those things that you inevitably will forget!
