That being said, standard size sheets don't work with it, the mattress pad is long and not sturdy so it just folds with sheets on it. When I contacted customer service about this, they recommended that sheets not be used and that the baby sleeps on the bare mattress. I don't like the idea of this because if the baby has a blowout and the mattress pad gets wet, then they have no choice but to sleep on a wet mattress. It will be perfect for those first few weeks bedside - the lower height makes it easy to see my baby while I'm lying down and easy to pick up from sitting. This is much more versatile than the other bassinets, the portability is perfect for moving it around the house AND we'll be able to fold it down and easily bring it along when we visit the grandparents and have a safe place for baby to sleep. It folds down compactly and comes with a carrying case. The canopy is perfect to shield the baby's eyes from the sun and our overhead potlights. Just LOVE the integrated bug net too! Keeps the bugs (and curious wet dog noses) out! The fabric on top of the wooden base is attached so it cannot be washed. The wooden base under the mattress pad also grows mold that can not be cleaned. It fits in our tiny house, and I just move it around to wherever baby is sleeping at that moment. One day, I took the mattress out to wash it after baby spit up on it and noticed that the sheet, the mattress the cloth liner of the main frame and the wooden/cardboard piece that makes the bottom of the frame all had mold on them. After much bleaching, I got all the visible traces of mold off. A week or 2 later, it is covered with mold again. The cardboard/wood bottom is very hard to clean and get the mold off. It seems like this should be made of plastic so it would be easier to clean. It also seem like the mattress should be water proof so that liquids (ruins, saliva, spit up...what baby doesn't cause these constantly!?) don't run through it and cause moisture under the mattress. It's worked out great and he sleeps well in it. I like that I can see through the mesh if he's fussing a little to see if he's ok. It's lightweight and easy to move which is convenient. My only complaints are it's low to the ground (I found most bassinets are like this) and I had a c section so bending that far to pick him up is painful. Also, there are not extra covers for the pad. I wanted to purchase extra because he has spit up or we've had a diaper malfunction and he's been wet with pee.
