I used it to lock a bathroom cabinet to keep my kiddos from getting into my makeup, scissors, nail clippers, lotions, etc. The lock is not too bulky, was extremely easy to install, and has a pretty tight grip so it seems it will last a long time and keep the cabinet closed even with the kids pulling on the door. The decoy button is Amazing! It kept my kids from figuring out how to open the cabinet and gave them a few minutes of entertainment, it also tricked my husband at first. The lock is very user friendly, you just pinch it open and clip it back on. I would definitely recommend this lock. She's never really tried to unlock it, but the decoy button is a clever design that will probably give us a few more months of use once she tries to remove it. It definitely is an effective child proofer! The negatives for me are the limited uses and the adhesive. I can't think of how I would use this lock outside of appliances. I probably wouldn't use it for cabinets, primarily because of the adhesive. We've used this brand with this adhesive before, and the adhesive is so hard to remove. Even using the recommended dental floss trick, I spent hours removing chunks of adhesive and residue. I didn't really have another option for our dishwasher though, so it does its job! The only real downside to this lock is that it is a one-time installation since the adhesive is not replaceable (confirmed this with customer service) so if we need to move the lock we just have to start over. I was excited to receive it as we have two young kid, one of which is very curious. We installed this on our snack cabinet, where it would see the most use. It replaced a basic cabinet lock that our two year old was able to figure out pretty quickly. With the new lock he ha not been able to figure out how to get it open! The decoy button works great. He spends a lot of time trying to get the decoy button to open up the cabinets, which end up as a great distraction. The lock itself works good on two side by side cabinets, but it still does allow some opening of the cabinets, which has led to pinched fingers as our two year old tries to get in there. The lock has a decoy &quot;open button&quot; and so far our 15 month old has not been able to unlock the garbage can lid. It definitely keeps her occupied though. The lock has hidden release buttons that are easy to open, even with one hand. To remove, we recommend using floss or thread to separate the adhesive from the surface.
