As the father of a bf baby with a working mother we are always looking for the right product that fits our lifestyle. While the mother pumps and at work I am the sole user of bottles in the home. As far as design this bottle is a great size with minimal parts. The only down side right now is she is only 4 months and with a flow of 2 it seemed a little fast for her. Other then that the nipple shape matched that of her pacifiers which is a plus. I plan on continuing to use this product as our daughter grows into them. I had previously been using the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles with my 4 month old and I thought those were pretty great. I have been using this Avent anti-colic bottle exclusively the last 3 days and I like it better because you don't have a vent in the nipple that you need to make sure faces a certain way. Easy to hand wash. Great in the dishwasher. I prefer holding this short and stout style. Simple to take apart and put together. My only complaint is all the hashmarks for US and UK fluids ounces plus milliliters are a little much for bleary-eyed middle of the night feedings. This bottle works well, and is easy to assemble and to clean. I love that the bottle only has three parts. The other type of bottle we use has more parts and is much more that difficult to clean. We had no problems with the nipple collapsing and baby didn't seem to gulp any air. My one complaint is that I did spill some milk using the bottle because the collar seems to loosen easily. Overall a very good bottle. One thing...it is a tad messy! My baby is currently 6 months old and EBF, getting a bottle only 2-3 times a week right now. Because there are minimal parts and the bottle is a wide-mouth bottle, these were very easy to assemble/disassemble and clean. The shape makes them comfortable to hold, and easy for baby to hold on to as well. I also appreciated the 9 oz. capacity, which can make it easier to transport milk. The bottle also features an anti-colic vent system, which is a nice addition. We did not have any gas issues after use. Due to the nipple flow speed (these come with a size 2 nipple), my baby had some issues with choking and coughing, so I really had to watch the pace and hold the bottle more level to prevent the milk from pouring into baby's mouth. The nipple also seemed a little long and harder than what baby is used to, for my baby's comfort, but would probably be something we could get used to with more practice. However, the flow for these nipples were too fast for my 2.5 month old - milk would always leak out of the side of his mouth. So I took 1 star off my review for that, since the nipples are advertised as 1m+. However, the bottles overall are well designed. As my son was feeding, I could hear the air venting through the collar and underside of the nipple, and could see the little bubbles appearing inside the bottle. So it seems like the bottle does in fact perform as it is designed. I also really like that the bottle only has 4 parts total - bottle, collar ring, nipple, lid - as it makes for easy cleaning an assembling. I'm not crazy about plastic and/or colored bottles in general, but ease of use is more important to me. Easy to assemble. few parts. Did it help with colic? I can't really say. I think it has more to do with how one feeds their baby in general versus a specific bottle. We received a #2 nipple, which seemed just fine for the baby's needs. My baby did prefer this to another brand/bottle type that we had tried using. We don't use bottles too often, but any time baby was home alone with Dad, I didn't worry if baby would eat enough- she gulped it all down! Only downside is that even the slow flow nipples seem to go a bit too fast. These come with level 2 nipples and are designed to be anti-colic, but without all the extra parts that some of the other anti-colic bottles have. My daughter does just as well with these bottles as she does with the Dr. Brown&rsquo;s. These bottles have a wide mouth making them both easy to fill and easy to clean. They have a nice tight fitting cap which prevents leaks. The downside is that you cannot pump directly into these bottles without an adaptor as the mouth is much wider than the connectors. Our Natural bottles occasionally have an air sucking sound, but we haven't encountered this with the Anti-Colic bottles (and neither seems to cause any unnecessary gas/discomfort). We used another brand of bottles - with many more parts! - with our older daughter and definitely prefer the Avent bottles this time around. Washing bottles is the bane of my existence! I appreciated that it went up to 9 oz, could be washed easily and was wide for tiny hands to hold. Unfortunately, it took my little guy 3 tries to get the hang of this one. He refused the first time, coughed a bunch from the fast flow (he is still on flow 1) and by the third time, he was adjusted and took his bottle easily. He is EBF, but takes a bottle at daycare and when we are out and about. My baby took to these bottles right away and is even able to hold them independently, which I was concerned about given the width of these bottles but it was not a problem. We have not had any issues with leaking and the bottles are a breeze to clean since they only have a few parts. The design of these bottles work, as we have not had any problems with gas or air. Even better, my child easily goes back and forth from the breast to bottle without issue. I would highly recommend these bottles especially for moms looking to compliment breastfeeding.
