Philips Avent Double Electric Breast Pump helps you save time and lets your baby enjoy the benefits of breast milk. Our pump also has a unique, soft cushion with massaging petals that help gently stimulate milk flow by mimicking your baby's natural suckling patterns. For additional suction, just attach the Power Cushion included. Unlike breast pumps that only operate properly when you lean forward, this breast pump allows you to sit comfortably upright as you express because the pump's angled neck lets milk flow naturally from breast to bottle. The breast pump is simple to use, with only a few lightweight parts that are easily assembled. Parts are dishwasher safe. It includes the Natural bottle and nipple for easier latch-on and transition between breast and bottle feeding. The Philips Avent Double Electric Breast Pump is backed by a 2-year warranty. At first I my thoughts on this breast pump was very neutral because I had tried a few different electric breast pumps before this avent one and in my mind all pumps are the same. But I was wrong about this electric breast pumps ,it turns out that I really like using the avent electric double breast pump for several reasons: it is super portable and non bulky. I also like that it is a closed system so it is more hygienic. When I first read the set up instructions it was also very easy to navigate and to use. The parts of the pump is very easy to clean and assemble on which is very helpful when I have to take care of my 3 kids. Therefore I will recommend to all my current breastfeeding mommy friends or soon to be mommy friends about this breast pump. Once again thank you weespring parent panel by sending me this product, it really help me alot .
Date published: 2018-05-14

Rated 3 out of 5 by AshleySc from Comfortable but difficult to use I love the quietness of this pump and the comfort of it. The pros are the accessories and the carrying case (love the size!). The cons are that it is not as powerful as my other pump and it has a lot of parts to clean after. For me this pump took longer than my usual pump and it was awkward to place in the pumping bra. It is also slightly louder. The pump however was very comfortable and if it had batteries and was more portable I would have given it a higher rating. The accessories are nice but I already owned all of the accessories too. If you don't already own a pump, then this is great. I loved the size and weight of it as I often travel with my pump between home, work and traveling. I also love that it comes with an insulated bag that fits all the pump parts, bottles and ice packs. Plus, I love Avent bottles! There were lots of parts for washing, but this really just seems to be par for the course when you're pumping/breastfeeding/bottle feeding. I really appreciated that I did not have to worry about milk or moisture getting into the hoses--that's a major plus to not have to worry about cleaning these out or needing to replace them because moisture gets stuck in them. Although this pump took longer for me to get a good letdown, it was one of the most comfortable pumps I've tried (and I've tried quite a few!) and it was also actually quiet (something I think most breast pumps say they are but rarely actually are!). I have previously used the Medela PISA, Medela Symphony, and the Spectra S1. Compared to these, the Philips Avent was surprisingly effective for such a quiet, little machine! There are a couple of extra parts to clean - the silicone bits, which might be related to why its so effective, so I don't mind. It doesn't have or easily accommodate a rechargeable lithium battery making it a bit less mobile than the others. That said, it's so small and light that I still take it for me when I'm travelling domestically and just plan ahead to make sure that I'm pumping near an outlet. I found the silicone flange covers to be a bit uncomfortable at first, but once I figured out to coat them with a bit of lanolin each time I pumped this discomfort went away. I find this pump to be the most effective and time-efficient out there.
Date published: 2018-05-14

Rated 3 out of 5 by Anonymous from Cool features, but expected more comfort I was luck to receive this product to try from the weeSpring Parent Panel. This pump has cool new features compare to the Medela I typically use. I was really expecting to love the comfort, but honestly did not feel any more comfort than my Medela. The pump does seem to have a lot of parts to hook up each time. On the positive, the bottles with this system are really nice especially for breast fed babies. The bottles hook right into the pump so that makes it super easy. I also loved how this pump is so small and much quieter than other pumps I have used. Nice and lightweight for bringing back and forth to work. Overall, I don’t know that I got any expressed any more milk with this pump. At first, I was unsure about it. The design is slightly different than the other two name brand pumps I was used to. But the Philips Avent won me over after the first few uses. One stand out for me is that the pump has silicone sleeves for the breast piece which makes it isreally comfortable. When in use, the bottles do not stick out as far as the other pumps I've used which makes it easier to multi-task without the bottles getting in the way. The noise-level is quite low as well, probably the most quiet pump I've used. Another big benefit is that while there are quite a few pieces that need to be disassembled for cleaning, as with all breast pumps, none of these pieces are so small that they get lost in your sink or wash basin. There are only three levels of suction which initially I was unsatisfied with. I am very sensitive, even after 10 months of pumping, and even the lowest setting was very uncomfortable. But I quickly realized that I was producing more milk in half the time using this pump as I was using my other two name brand pumps. That was enough for me to convert to the Philips Event as my primary pump. I love the feature of the cups to put over the flanges. They make it more comfortable. I also loved that this pump is a closed system with the silicone pieces you can insert into the top to make sure milk does not get in your tubing. In addition, I loved the bottles being included along with the nursing pads, and the scrub brush. This would be the perfect gift for a new mom who has chosen to pump. Overall, I felt that this was a pretty good pump. I have used 4 different models over the years and this pump was in my top two favorites. I really liked the small size of the pump which made it easy to move around with. The sound is also pretty quiet. I had a pretty good output with the suction- not the highest I’ve experienced but definitely not the lowest. Cleaning of all the parts was pretty straightforward and routine to do. There aren’t a ton of tiny pieces to deal with. With the closed system milk can’t get into the pump itself-which is fantastic. In sum, this is a pretty good pump for the price point. I was looking forward to trying this pump as I have used different pumps in the past and wanted to see if something else would be better. When I first opened the box I was extremely overwhelmed by all of the parts and setup. I almost didn't want to use it! As someone who has exclusively pumped in the past I would never choose this pump just from all of the assembly required. I feel like it would be extremely overwhelming for a first time sleep deprived mom to use. One thing that I really liked was the size and the level of noise from the pump. I pumped usually 4 times a day. I found the Avent pump to be very quiet, compact and easy to use. The pump and all of the accessories neatly fit into the carrying case the pump came with. My favorite part of the pump was little clips on top of the flanges. I could wrap the tubing around the flange and clip the end of the tubing in place to neatly store the parts. The pump itself is very compact and weighs very little. This made bringing my pump back and forth to work much easier. At times the flanges were hard for me to get into the correct positioning. It was hard for me to see through the massaging pads to see if my nipple was in the middle of the flange. Because of this, sometimes it was a bit uncomfortable when I would start the pump, but that was easily fixed by just re positioning. I really like the level of suction and speed. This pump gave less settings to manipulate, but overall I was able to adjust the settings enough to get productive sessions. The flanges had massaging pads on them that made pumping much more comfortable. The rigid hard plastic flanges that most other pumps have can be really uncomfortable and give a pinching feeling. The flanges on the Avent pump felt closer to nursing than any other pumps that I have used. I LOVE Avent bottles, I have never once had a problem with them leaking and my daughter takes the nipples well. The set came with four 4oz bottles, sealing disks and nipples. The sealing disks are great. They click right into place and don't leak. Pumping directly into bottles that my daughter uses saves a lot of time during clean up. I found this pump to have few parts to disassemble which means less tiny parts to keep track of! The only issue I had with this pump was sometimes the silicone membranes didn't slip into place properly and I had issues with suction. Usually it just took a few extra seconds to fiddle with the pieces before it was working properly though. Thank you to Weespring Parent Panel for sending me this pump to try out. Overall I really liked using this pump and would recomend it to any pumping mama!
Date published: 2018-05-12

Rated 4 out of 5 by FirstTimeMomma from Great pump! I received this product from weeSpring Parent Panel at no charge in exchange for my honest review. I liked this pump more than my current pump. It took about the same time to pump as my current pump, but the process was more enjoyable. The tubes are a little sticky, so it picked up any lint around. Having cats, this was a little annoying. I'm also used to my current pump flipping from stimulation to non-stimulation mode on its own. With this pump I had to do that flip manually. Love the whole package. I was given this product to try as part of the weeSpring parent panel.
Date published: 2018-05-12

Rated 3 out of 5 by SnuffyJr from Decent Pump **The Phillips Avent Double Electric Breast Pump is a decent pump and most likely worth trying for those interested in pumping full-time or in pumping sometimes to build up some freezer stash. I really would rate this a 3.5 STAR if that was possible in stead of just whole #s. I pumped both breasts at the same time whenever I used this pump. It was efficient at getting milk out of my left breast, but sometimes struggled to get milk as adequately out of my right side. My right side is my "bad boob", but I am typically still able to get 1-3 ounces out of it with another brand of pump that I own. The success with my "bad boob" was about 50% with this pump. On my left side, or better side, I was able to successfully pump a standard amount of milk pretty consistently. I used this pump 1 to 2 times a day for a while. **This pump has three expression settings, sort of like a low, medium and high "suck." I used it on the low setting because I found it to be uncomfortable and a little "pinchy" on the medium or high settings. On the low setting, I did fine with it. This pump is supposed to have "soft cushion massaging petals" to gently stimulate milk flow. I don't necessarily think the cushions made this pump any more comfortable than other pumps I own?! Maybe for some people the cushions WOULD provide noticeable added comfort and milk flow, but for me they just seemed like another part to clean and assemble. A BIG POSITIVE of this pump is how quiet it is!! It is nice and quiet, which is a major plus if you need to pump while working/on the phone for work or pleasure, etc. and don't necessarily want the person you're on the phone with to be able to tell you're pumping or to wonder what that noise is. I did this the soft noise was a definite plus. Another big plus is that it is a closed system, meaning no milk can get into the tubes. This is also a plus over some other brands. **The Phillips Avent Pump was pretty easy to set up and clean. The set up was mostly self explanatory. The carrying bag it came with is convenient and a nice size to fit the motor base, pump parts and a spare bottle or two to pour milk into or whatever. I kind of wished the overall design were a little different and that the bottles that it came with to pump into were bigger/held more ounces. I like to be able to hold the bottle part against my chest with my forearms so I still have my hands free to do other things in front of me while pumping. I found that with the Avent pump, where I would normally or naturally? want to put my arm to push the flange/bottle against myself, it seemed kinda awkward with the overall design. This would NOT be a deal breaker for me, I would just need to adjust the way I typically do it and find what worked best with THIS pump if this were to be my full-time pump. I wish the bottles to pump into were bigger because when I pump 15 to 20 minutes I sometimes can fill a 4 ounce bottle and sometimes would need to STOP pumping in order to not overflow the 4 ounce bottle. I'd prefer it to be a 6 ounce bottle just to have plenty of room on "extra good" pumping sessions. **As far as the bottles, I actually really like the bottle and included nipples! My baby liked the nipples just fine, too, and did fine transitioning back and forth from breast to bottle. I also really liked that the bottles have so few parts to clean - like literally just the bottle, ring, and nipple! I despise bottles with lots of little parts/extra that go inside them to prevent colic, do this do that, etc. This bottle worked great and was easy to clean and quick to put together easily! The brush it came with worked well with its curve to get inside parts to clean it, and all parts (except the actual pump motor obviously) were able to be put into the top rack of the dishwasher, as well, which is another way I prefer washing pump parts. I also liked the day time and night time breast pads that were included as samples in the pump box. My baby just turned 9 months old so I am not regularly engorged anymore or leaking, but I did have engorgement one day a few weeks ago with a clogged duct, so I used one then and it was nice and I think I WOULD prefer it over other brands I have used in the past. I wish I had had them to try earlier in my breastfeeding/pumping journey when I was having to wear a pad regularly. Overall, I think this pump is worth trying if you are on the market for attempting different pumps in order to see what works best for you on your breastfeeding/pumping journey. For me, it was efficient regularly on my left side and 50% of the time on my right side. It's comfort level was ok, but not as comfortable as another brand I own that I think is more customizable. For others, though, this might end up being more comfortable as we are all shaped differently?! I received this pump as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel to test and review, but these thoughts are 100% my own!
Date published: 2018-05-12

Rated 3 out of 5 by LyndzM from Nice pump but not for me The Phillips Advent double pump was a nice, compact pump but I was not the biggest fan. I was excited to try a different pump that I didn’t receive from my insurance. There were quite a few parts to it but once I put it together, it was pretty easy to use. It was slower and a little louder than my medela pump. It did however get the job done and I can’t say that for every pump I’ve tried. I wish it gave you more control over the suction like the medela pump does. I think this would help make the pumping faster. I also liked that it came with bottles. Anything that can lead to less cleaning is a big plus when you’re a mom. The parts as a whole are easy to clean which is really nice as well. The only other comment would be to add a battery pack for travel.
Date published: 2018-05-11

Rated 4 out of 5 by Boymom1 from Good overall pump I really like this pump. I have always been a big Avent bottle fan and have always been our go to bottles in our house, so the fact that I can pump directly into my bottles, versus having to pump in one bottle and transfer to the bottle I actually use to feed is a huge time (and energy saver-- what mom doesn't appreciate less dishes to wash as well). I did initially notice a difference in the amount of milk pumped when I switch from the pump I had been using, but I think it was just my body getting used to different suction patterns, and quickly evened out. The pump was easy to put together and lightweight which is nice when you sometimes pump on the go. The only thing I would change, would be to include different flange sizes with the pump. Overall great pump and would recommend. It was super easy to put together, take apart, clean and use. I didn't have to read the instructions to need figure out how it worked. The pump was very small, which I thought would be great to transport and not take up so much room. It was comfortable to use but my body did not react well to this pump. I am generally able to express 3-4 oz per side in 5 minutes when using a double electric pump but I was able to get less than an ounce total pumping for 10+ minutes each time I tried using this pump. I also think it would be beneficial to have a plug on each side to cover the valve so if you need to pump only one side you don't have to have a bottle attached to the other valve of the pump, which just makes it a bit more inconvenient. I wished my body would react well to this as it is very compact. I do love the bottles that come with the pump-very sturdy, easy to clean and put together and the only one my son with somewhat use. When I first opened the box I was a little overwhelmed by all the parts included but once I set it up it was easy to use. It took me a couple times to get it down but overall it was pretty simple. There are multiple pieces to clean so that took some getting used to but didn't effect my opinion of the pump. The pump itself is compact and pretty quiet. It would be small enough to travel with or take to work even though it doesn't come with a battery pack. I only used in my home so plugging it in was not an issue. The pump felt comfortable when using but it did take a little bit longer than my normal everyday pump. I would say I had to give myself an extra 5-7 minutes to get my regular output. If I was in a hurry I would choose my normal pump over this one even though this one is more comfortable. The settings were easy to figure out but not as customizable as other pumps I have used. What was available got the job done so no complaints there. It came with a few bottles which I tried but my baby didn't like the nipplel and spit up after so we only used once. Overall this is a great, durable pump at a good price point. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a compact, quiet, comfortable breast pump!
Date published: 2018-05-11

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Comfortable and convenient I was given this breast pump to try as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel. I am currently nursing my third breastfed baby. I stay home, so I use a pump occasionally to have some milk on hand and to relieve engorgement. It took a little practice to get good suction with this pump, but now that I have gotten the hang of it I reach for this one over my other electric pump. The silicone on the flanges make this so much more comfortable than other pumps, which helps me express more milk faster. It doesn't leave me sore at all. It has a lot of parts to clean, but not many nooks and crannies. The carrying bag is a convenient size, and I love that the cord and tubing is quite long, so I don't have to be right next to an outlet in order to use it. I would absolutely recommend this pump to another mom primarily for the comfort factor.
Date published: 2018-05-11

Rated 3 out of 5 by w129jag from A simple, easy to use breast pump Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for providing me with this breast pump! I've tried several different breast pumps over the years, and this was a pretty decent pump. First off, the things I liked about this pump was how quiet it is when it's being used. It's such a small, compact pump, but it was very powerful, discreet and quiet! I loved the "cushioned" silicone flange covers that look like little air pockets that make pumping more comfortable. Everything was easy to clean, but it felt like there were a ton of parts! When not being used, the pump tubes can be wrapped around the unit and neatly secured with little clips on the backflow piece. No matter how many times I used this pump, I really struggled with taking those backflow pieces off when I was finished. I chipped nail polish and broke nails trying to get those things off each time! One thing that I think needs to be re-evaluated is the length of the flange "tunnel" where your nipple glides back and forth. At the beginning of pumping, it's not a problem, the unit is in "let down" mode and everything is fine. However, after 10+ minutes of pumping at even the low-medium power, my nipple felt uncomfortable, and when I looked down, it was touching the back wall of the tunnel where the milk drops down. I even compared it to my other pumps I use, and it seems that the nipple tunnel on this product was quite a bit shorter than other pumps. The bottle and nipple brush that came with this pump is amazing! I hope Philips sells it by itself! Lastly, I want to thank Philips for putting a little "grip" on the duckbill valve to easily remove it and clean it without tugging and possibly ripping the delicate valve! Overall, this was a nice pump to have on a side table in a living room, as it was small and easy to tuck away and pull it out as you need it.
Date published: 2018-05-11

Rated 4 out of 5 by mhschmidt from Great Secondary Pump I was lucky enough to receive the Avent electric breast pump for free to try through the weeSpring Parent Panel. I already had a different brand of electric pump that I had received from my insurance, so at first I was skeptical of the Avent pump. The first time using the pump, I struggled to properly put it together, resulting in less than ideal suction. This was completely user error and after re-consulting the instruction manual, I tried again with much better results! I keep this pump at home and use it as my secondary pump for occasional or weekend pumping (my other pump stays at work). It has been great to have this pump on hand for several reasons. First, it is incredibly compact and the convenient carrying case keeps all the pieces organized and in one place. I also love that you can pump right into the Avent bottles without any special adapters - this helps make it easier for storing bottles in the fridge at home and makes less dishes to wash. I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 only because I wish it had more than 3 settings for suction power. I would definitely recommend this pump to others.
Date published: 2018-05-11

Rated 4 out of 5 by SavannahKate from Quiet Comfort I was pleasantly surprised at my output after using this pump. The reason I say this is because it didn’t feel quit as powerful as my usual pump. But instead I had a much more comfortable experience and still produced about the same amount per session. It took slightly longer to finish pumping but I didn’t mind at all because I wasn’t getting sore. While the settings weren’t extremely customizable like some other units, the options were very straight forward and it was easy to find the setting that suited me best. I also liked all the pieces and accessories that came with the pump. The bottles are easy to store and then quickly switch out with nipple/spout so no pouring from one container to another. I used both the comfort insert in flange and the power one and honestly didn’t see much of difference in output so ultimately just used the comfort pads as they felt slightly better. The reason I didn’t give five stars is because I found the set up and break down of all the parts slightly more labor intensive than my previous pump. Maybe with more practice I will get faster at it but if I were pumping at work I don’t know if this would be my first choice if I was looking for the most efficient pumping session with set up, break down and time spent pumping. That being said I do prefer this for at home sessions and/or power pumping for longer periods as it is definitely more comfortable.
