We wanted to try a bottle and nipple system that was variable flow because he had never fed from a bottle before and we wanted to find just the right flow for him. It turns out he liked the flow to be as high as possible. While the anti-colic vent was simple enough to use, I can’t say whether or not the nipples can relieve colic or gas because we (luckily) have never really dealt with that problem, especially not now that he is a little bit older. It was pretty simple to get him to take the nipple, the bottle was filled with breast milk and I (Mama) had to leave the room while his Papa gave him the bottle. If I was in the room, he would throw a fit because he knew where the “real thing” was. Once he got a taste, he took very well to the nipple and bottle. I am a full time mom and my husband and parents watch my son while I'm away. I pump at work and they feed him my breast milk during the day. We have tried 4 different types of nipples and bottles and these are the best! My son is never very picky and will eat our of any of the bottles, but he fusses much less with these nipples. My son is 4 months old and he now prefers the medium flow nipple. He sometimes gets gas, but very little when we use the Philips Avent nipples. The plastic is very soft and has a natural feel. My son has no trouble switching between these and the breast. On the inside of the nipple the plastic is molded in a swirling pattern which I believe adds to the milk coming out smoothly. The nipples have numbers on the side so you can tell easily which rate of flow they are. It is nice for us to have a few different flow nipples to grow with him as he grows. These Avent nipples came in a nice plastic case, I'm not sure if I would reuse it, but it was nice to know it hasn't been touched and possibly damaged by people looking at them in the store. Overall a fantastic product. Baby, Daddy, and Grandparent approved! My baby is exclusively breastfed, and rarely takes bottles. So I typically use a slow flow nipple. At three months we attempted to move up in nipple size and introduced him to this nipple. The flow was too strong for him since he is breastfed he is used to "working" for the milk versus it flowing so easily. Therefore for us staying with a slow flow nipple worked best. I really like the re-design! This would be an amazing option for a formula fed baby, my personal preference for my BF baby is a slow flow even as she gets older (7 months). Everytime we bottle fed she grabbed the bottle and fed herself, she took to it like a pro! I just held her and supervised :) We had zero issues with colic and zero issues with gas! I highly recommend these nipples! The only thing I wish was better were the instructions with the nipple package itself. It was very easy to find the information online. Here is the gist though: turn the bottle to line up the I, II, or III marking on the nipple with your baby's nose to choose between slow, medium, and fast flow. When I used the Phillips Avent Natural Medium Flow nipple to feed my four month old, it seemed to make the formula flow slightly faster than what she can handle. I thought she would be able to handle it due to the fact that it is for 3+ months, but I had to change her back to the smaller nipple. They may be great for babies that drink slowly, but because my daughter drinks so quickly, it is not the best nipple to use at the moment. Aside from the faster flow, my daughter seemed to take well to the nipple, which was a concern since I had started transitioning to bottles. They seem to be a close resemblance to what she is used to during breastfeeding. I will try the medium flow nipples again when I feel her feeding is more controlled and hope it's better for her! My experience with the nipples given to me for the Philips Avent bottles I had also received was very positive. I have had problems in the past with nipples collapsing from other brands and my daughter getting frustrated, mad, or losing interest while eating because the nipple flow was either too fast or too slow. The nipple sizes vary by the age of the child and offer faster flow as the child grows. It was helpful to use the medium flow nipples because it was fast enough for my daughter so she wasn't losing interest in her bottle or getting upset during the feeding but not too fast to where it would cause her to choke. The nipples are very soft with a flexible spiral design and comfort petals which allow a natural latch and the ability for the nipple to move preventing it from collapsing as well as venting out air. My daughter took well to the nipple and her gas has improved which has made a great difference in her overall mood after a feeding. I would recommend this product to mothers seeking to bottle feed their little one with a nipple that mimics the breast and helps relieve gas.
Date published: 2018-01-12

Rated 3 out of 5 by AGardner from Too Fast a Flow [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My little one had no problems taking to this nipple. The wide, soft shape, may have had something to do with this. Although, she hasn't had issues with any nipple I have tried with her thus far. After each use, she had no more or less gas than normal. She was never exceptionally fussy after feedings with this nipple either. The wide shape made it much easier to clear, which I thoroughly enjoyed! As a mother who is breastfeeding, I only use nipples that are designed for new borns or with the slowest flow rate. I don't want to use a nipple, that makes eating too easy for her. I did feel that with this nipple, even the level 1 nipple, she was able to get the milk too quickly. A 10 minute feeding quickly turned into a 2 minute feeding. Which was ok with her, but not so much for me. As a mom who struggles with her little ones acid reflux I give these a 3 out of 5. Granted not every child suffers with this messy and expensive issue so I would like to also point out the redeeming qualities of these bottle nipples. I received these bottle nipples from the Weespring parent panel. The Philips Avent Natural bottle nipples were for a 3m+ flow but were a little fast for my four month old. This could have made a difference in the amount of spit-up and gas and I would like to try the slower flow nipple to compare. He did have less spit-up than other nipples but still more than the usual bottle nipples we use due to his acid reflux. He was able to burp very easily after, but there was a bit more gas even though there are built-in air vents in the nipple on two sides. The increased gas could also be due to the faster flow rate than his usual bottle nipple. I liked the thick texture of the BPA free material and they were very easy to clean. The selling point to me was the ease of the latch he had on these. It is very similar in shape to the natural breast and he latched very wide and easily so there was less leaking. He also stayed on and did not let go throughout the feeding and also less readjusting from me throughout the feeding to make sure he was taking in less air. Pros: thick material (didn't feel cheap) BPA free easy to clean burped more easily after great latch no leaking Cons: 3m+flow was still too fast for 4m old more gas than usual bottle nipple not great for acid reflux in our case due to increased spit up
Date published: 2018-01-12

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous from Avent Naturel Nipple I am reviewing an item sent to me at no cost from the WeeSpring Parent panel. I really liked how soft and pliable the nipple is and so did she. I feel like these closely mimic the shape of my nipple and that helped her to accept the bottle. The concept of the nipple seems really intriguing to me...one nipple for various flows and thus various stages of your baby's feeding journey. I was happy with the instructions and set up of the nipple...it works with the Philips Avent Natural bottles that we use and love, which is a definite plus. I can see how this nipple would be an awesome choice for babies that do a lot of bottle feeds, and especially for those with reflux since the nipples are designed to accommodate thickened liquids. For us, however, I think the regular Avent Natural nipples are just as good. My little one is on breast milk only, and we don't ever thicken his milk with cereal. We also prefer to use the slowest flow nipples available because I feel that it helps to mimic the slow flow of milk from the breast as we are trying to avoid nipple confusion or a bottle preference with our son. Just out of curiosity, I tried turning the bottle to get flow II and flow III, and it seemed to be too fast for our son. He did okay with level II, but turned his head away when I tried level III. I think if the caregiver were always to hold the bottle, the nipple would be fine for everyone. However I don't know how this would work for older babies that like to hold their own bottles, as there is nothing to stop them from rotating the bottle to a faster or slower flow...which I can see causing some frustration. Overall, I think it is an interesting concept, but more of a niche product for those that have a need to thicken their child's milk in the bottle.
Date published: 2018-01-12

Rated 3 out of 5 by tamarah57 from Not the right nipple for my baby yet I was planning to exclusively breastfeed my baby. When feeding the baby, you line up the Roman numeral you want to use with the baby's nose. This is how fast the milk will flow. III is the fastest, II is medium, I is the slowest. This nipple is recommended for 3 months and older. I liked being able to try to see which was the best fit for my little one. However, I found that all of the flows were too fast for him, even the slowest flow. So he didn't take to it well or prefer any flow rate of this nipple. I tried several times. He was gulping the milk very loudly while kicking his feet, and the milk kept dripping down his chin. He had a really hard time swallowing it so fast and that made him very fussy. I think he just might not be ready for a faster flow yet. But I do intend to try it again in about a month. Though he had a hard time taking it down that fast, it still didn't cause him gas or aggravate his colic. I think this nipple would work very well for a breastfed baby. I think the flow might work better for them. But all babies are different. So though mine's 3 months now, I just don't think he's ready for a faster flow yet. I did also try the Philips avent natural bottle with a newborn nipple and that worked good for my baby. Thanks to the weeSpring parent panel for providing me with this bottle nipple.
Date published: 2018-01-11

Rated 5 out of 5 by ChicMom from Problem Solved I'm a new mom so "trial and error" has been my middle name! I received a ton of bottles from my shower. My baby had a favorite at first but as time progressed he needed a faster nipple. The lightweight feel of the other bottle had me hooked. I bought a few of the stage 2 nipples to match and boom! Problem solved. Not quite. Their stage 2 nipples are super slow, there's 2 holes just like the Avent ones so it must be the placement of the holes..? Not sure but It would take us hours to get through a 5-6 oz feeding. I'm thinking, omg he didn't like the cereal, wasn't feeling well...something! It never occurred to me that the nipple was all of a sudden the issue. So about 2 days later I received these bottle nipples from the weeSpring Parent Panel. Turned a 2 hour feeding into 15 min!!! Yesssss!!! It was strange to me that all the nipple holes weren't the same even though they said they were! Stage 2 with other nipples are not Stage 2 with Avent. Avent is way faster and smoother but be careful if you are transitioning, it did take my baby some time to get used to the flow since it's so fast. But with my guidance he was just fine. Avent saved the day! He's much happier and full now, thanks to weeSpring for sending in perfect timing.
Date published: 2018-01-11

Rated 4 out of 5 by awpeeps from Well made and easy to use [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It was easy to switch these nipples out when I needed to size up and fairly easy to clean. She is a breastfed baby. We have had limited used with bottles and nipples. She occasionally gets a bottle with breast milk in it when I am at work. She has been a pretty easy baby with no issues with colic or gas (knock on wood!). My baby did not miss a beat when feeding from this nipple with breast milk. I was worried that she might take this nipple and then maybe not want to go back to breastfeeding. She has gone from breast to a bottle and back to breast with the Avent Natural Variflow nipple with no issues. I liked that my baby’s mouth looked similar on this bottle to when she is breastfeeding. It looked like her lips were flanged out and she was using the same muscles to feed off this nipple as she does to breastfeeding. I think the wide nipple base made this possible. My baby has never had any issues with gas or colic but I appreciated that the nipples had a vent to prevent gas. My baby did not have any gas or seem uncomfortable after feeding off this nipple. I think it is helpful to have a variety of nipple choices available. The 3m+ flow might have been a little fast for my baby. Maybe a different flow rate like the 1m+ might have been a better choice for my breast milk even though my baby is 3 months old. The nipple was soft and flexible. It didn’t look like it collapsed while it was in her mouth and she was sucking on the nipple. It was very easy to clean I believe because it is a simple design and the material. Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for providing me with this bottle nipple. Baby bottles, that is. Also, in my training as an occupational therapist I learned how the shape of a bottle nipple can profoundly affect a newborn’s latch. So for my baby, Avent Natural bottles and nipples were a top choice when offering my baby her first bottle of breast milk. I like how soft and flexible they are, and that Avent kept the bottle design so simple. No tiny valves or tubes to track. Alas, my baby number two just isn’t like baby one and often refuses to take a bottle. However the Philips Avent Natural line offers flexibility with a range of nipple flow choices which is helping me help her overcome her hesitation with the bottle. That’s what I like the Medium Flow Nipple. Now that my babe is four months old and likes a faster flow, I can mimic that with this nipple. She has never had colic or gas issues using the Avent Natural bottles with breast milk. Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for providing the Philips Avent Natural Medium Flow Nipple for us to try. It’s been a winner for so many of the babies I’ve bottle fed. It’s one of my favorites, and in time I’m sure it my baby will like it too.
Date published: 2018-01-11

Rated 4 out of 5 by elocjay from Very nice! My 5 month old baby is exclusively breastfed, so he doesn't get a bottle very often, and in the past we've had a lot of trouble getting him to take one. Overall, I really liked this bottle nipple! It's awesome that it has the variable flow and is versatile so I'm not constantly having to buy more nipples as he gets older - especially since we only use bottles occasionally and not full time. He also took this nipple fairly well and didn't seem to have any problems with colic or gas afterwards, which is great! He didn't make as much of a mess as he has with other nipples in the past, either. I also loved the packaging these nipples came in, as it doubles as a nice clean storage place for them when not in use. Overall, I think this is the best one we've tried so far! I was very nervous about leaving my little guy who was used to eating entirely on the breast and not sure how he would do with a bottle. My son is three months and we started to try several bottles prior to my return to work, but he would often choke or gasp during a feeding. I was afraid that this would cause tummy upset and fussiness which would make him hesitant to take a bottle. I started using the Phillips Avent Bottle with the Variflow Nipple and his feeds have greatly improved.. I think this is in large part due to this nipple/bottle combo. I think the slower flow rate and the similarities to the breast make it an easy adjustment for a predominantly breastfed baby. This is now the only bottle/nipple combo we will use! I am a first time mom, and we have been using Dr. Brown's bottles since birth. Taking the Avent bottle out of the package, I like its wider shape for my baby to hold onto. It is also easier for me to hold onto. My baby had no problems taking this bottle and the nipple design. He latched right on and drank it down quickly. There were no problems with gas and he didn't even need to burp afterwards! I like that there are no extra parts (like with the Dr. Browns bottles), it makes cleanup very easy! The only reason there are not 5 stars, is because the nipple is difficult to pull through the top. If I pull too hard it comes out completely. So, I have to sit there and pull up each edge. I did not have any leakage from the bottle. The nipple did not collapse and my son is a heavy sucker.
Date published: 2018-01-10

Philips Avent Natural Baby Bottle Nipple, Medium Flow Nipple 3M+ - 2-Pack Reviews - page 5

y_2025, m_5, d_10, h_8

bvseo_bulk, prod_bvrr, vn_bulk_3.0.42

cp_4, bvpage2n

co_hasreviews, tv_10, tr_181

loc_en_CA, sid_EC068E7C, prod, sort_[SortEntry(order=SUBMISSION_TIME, direction=DESCENDING)]

clientName_toysrus-ca

bvseo_sdk, dw_cartridge, 18.2.0, p_sdk_3.2.0

CLOUD, getReviews, 6ms

reviews, product
