One of my biggest concerns when buying anything for my baby is making sure it's safe and eco-friendly, which is why I would definitely recommend this set for any expecting parent to add to their registry. The Avent Natural bottles are a great design and I particularly liked them for my baby because they reduced gas, which had been a problem for us with other bottles. I was nursing as well as bottle feeding and my baby had no trouble switching from one to the other. The bottles themselves were easy to clean and maintain, and I had no issues with leaks. You have to make sure to thread the tops carefully and not tighten them too much. It was great to have the formula dispenser and bottle brush included; this set definitely covers all the basic necessities for bottle feeding. My baby isn't a fan of pacifiers, and the Soothie wasn't an exception, unfortunately. The glass is really thick and they are very easy to hold so I wasn&rsquo;t worried about them dropping and shattering. The design is curved and I found them very comfortable to hold. Because they are a wider bottle, they are very easy to clean. At five months old my baby had only had a few bottles and he was able to transition from the nipples on these bottles back to the breast very easily. In the kit was five bottles, three 4 ounce and two 8 ounce, two pacifiers, a bottle brush and a container to store powdered formular(or snacks). I breastfeed my baby but planned on pumping and using bottles when I went back to work. Once I received these the packaging is small and convienent and looks very nice, like something you&rsquo;d be proud to have in your cart or give as a gift. Then when I opened the box it I couldn&rsquo;t believe how much was fit neatly into a fairly small box! I received three 4 ounce and two 8 ounce bottles. They are beautiful glass bottles. I could not wait to use them with my baby. I washed and sterilized then immediately to try them out. Seriously, these bottle are so pretty and minimalistic!! My baby was already over a month old and had not tried bottles yet. I used my breast milk in the bottle and had my husband try to feed him. Honestly it took like ten minutes but my little guy caught on with minimal struggle. The bottle was easy to clean, it is similar to the plastic version as far as mechanics, just glass bottle. The next day I tried the pacifier but my little guy was not too keen on using pacifiers of any kind, including Avent. I really liked the look of the pacifier being clear nice and simple! Honestly, I was sad to report that my son wanted nothing to do with it or any pacifier. The design seems really nice and even has a cover for the nipple which I think is amazing so it doesn&rsquo;t get dirty while it&rsquo;s being stored! The container for formula was clear and dark grey, it looks very nice and feels well made. I and still breastfeeding and have not yet used this piece although if I were to use formula this seems like it would be a great accessory to have and would be easy to use. I have used the bottle brush from the kit on my pursuit to Find a bottle that my son will take (which has been unsuccessful) and it works great and has held up wonderfully! I am sad to report that after only about a month and about 6 uses my son stopped taking bottles. So we have not used these in a couple months now. We did try other brands after he stopped taking the Avent bottles and he will not take any form of bottle that we have tried. I did not give this product 5 stars because my son didn&rsquo;t not accept or use bottles for long, i am not sure how they hold up long term. Over all I would buy this as a gift for an expecting mama wanting to use something beautiful and simple, such as glass bottles. I would recommended this kit to parents who want to use glass bottles or to parents who already have experience with Avent products and enjoy them. My first little one never took a bottle, and I was determined to find a natural solution to bottle-feeding my newest baby. The Philips natural glass bottles are not only easy to use, but are much easier to clean than plastic alternatives. This gift set came with an enclosed bottle brush that I felt confident using, and am actually planning on purchasing another to use for big brother&rsquo;s sippy cups. We used the bottles for expressed breastmilk, and found the wide mouth of the bottles to be very helpful in ensuring each drop of &ldquo;liquid gold&rdquo; made it into the bottle. The nipple included in the gift set was perfect for our 3-month-old son, and the pace of feeding seemed to be on-par with the pace of my natural let-down while breastfeeding. My son did eventually stop taking a bottle, but we did trying many different brands and styles and he refuses them all. If he had continued to take a bottle, this would definitely be my first choice because of its ease of use, care, and because there&rsquo;s no concern of toxicity or chemicals due to the bottles being glass. I would definitely recommend this bottle set, and would absolutely purchase it as a gift for friends who are expecting a baby. My son LOVES the orthodic pacifiers! He can easily grab it now and pop it right in when he needs it. I never have to worry about getting it in the right way because of its symmetrical design, and it&rsquo;s easy to attach to a pacifier clip while we are out and about. Immediately I loved the feel of the bottles. The glass bottles were both eco-friendly and well made. The parts were VERY easy to clean with or without the brush that came with the set. The brush itself was well made. The bristles were sturdy and fit well in the bottle. The downside of glass bottles is they tend to be heavy for small babies to hold. My baby is on the bigger side and didn't have too much of an issue although he did show some fatigue after a while and watched me to hold it for him. Also, I would have liked if these bottles could have connected directly to my breast pump, but they probably would have been too heavy. My baby is very picky about pacifiers/soothies but I liked the design and was hoping he would take to it. He enjoyed it for a few minute and then spit it out. After trying a few times he started to swat it away. He is already established with the one he uses to I am sure it's not the design of the soothie. Finally, the formula holder worked very well and didn't leak. I thought it was useful for both formula and infant cereal as the baby grows. All four of her kiddos had taken to the Avent Natural glass bottles. I'd also heard not to go too nuts about purchasing them beforehand since it's very common your newborn will refuse one type and take to another. I registered for three small 4oz bottles and three larger 8 oz and received them at my shower. Months later, we found that our son immediately took to these... like a wonder child. I wished I had more! We were breastfeeding, but I was pumping so Grandma or Dad could give him a bottle while I was at work or we were out for a date. He was switching back and forth between the Natural Avent bottle and breastfeeding without a hitch! Just as I was preparing to purchase more, I received my first WeeSpring Parent Panel item to review - and sure enough, it was an Avent Natural starter kit, with three 4 oz bottles, three 8 oz bottles, a brush to clean them (that I still use and love almost 6 months later!), a snack carrier that we've just begun using and are enjoying, and two soothies. For whatever reason, my son never took to a soothie/paci so I feel I can't review those fairly. I will say, we bought probably 5 or 6 different brands and he didn't like ANY of them. We are at 6 months old now and still loving these bottles. We never progressed past the newborn nipple size, we tried a couple times, but my son would have a harder time keeping up with the flow of it, or would freak out at the end when the bottle was gone faster than he was used to. So we just purchased yet another two packs of the size 1 nipple and all seems to be going perfect. I feel very lucky to have had such a great breastfeeding and bottle journey thus far (especially since I went back to work part time after three months), and I can't help but think it's because of the design of the nipple on the Avent Natural bottles. They are much easier to clean than the traditional plastic, and seem quite sturdy, having even been dropped on a concrete floor a few times! The bottle brush is fantastic-the bristles are much sturdier than the standard foam bottle brushes, and a huge bonus is that it fits into my narrow mouth bottles as well! The pacifiers in the pack were a great bonus too, as my little one is very picky and only takes this brand! The formula dispenser worked well too, though since we breastfeed only we used it to hold snacks rather than formula powder! Just a few minor cons-the larger (8oz) glass bottles are a bit to heavy to safely give baby to hold without assistance. The nipples included in the pack were too fast a flow for our purposes (we are still on size 0 at 14m)-for a starter set it would have been nice to have at least one size 0 as well as the 1s and 2s included with the pack. Overall I would highly recommend this package to someone. I find the bottles and nipples to be of very high quality and have very much enjoyed adding them to our stash. Love the new nipple design, they just feel nicer and even cleaner than the other ones. However, since receiving this set, we learned that we are not allowed to take glass bottles to daycare, and since that is primarily where we use bottles, these haven't gotten much use. My husband uses them at home from time to time, but with Baby learning to hold his own bottle, the glass is a bit heavy for him, so he also prefers plastic. I know glass is better overall, for Baby's health and the environment, but we just aren't able to use them the way I had hoped. Baby is also exclusively breast fed (or pumped milk), so the larger size bottles are not necessary for us, and we haven't even touched them. The formula container actually does come in handy for travel - we put baby cereal in it on weekend trips so it is already divided up! We have not used the pacifiers because we love our Avent Soothies and just haven't had a need to introduce new ones! Though I do love that these come with covers. We love the bottle brush - the nipple cleaner on the end, as opposed to the ones that detach from the bottom, is super convenient - I always lose the little detachable ones in the sink water! And the shape of this bottle brush is perfect for the Avent bottles. Because we weren't able to use this at daycare and don't use the larger size bottles, I can't say that I would suggest to others to put it on a baby registry or that I would buy it for a baby shower gift unless I knew more about the mother's plan for feeding and care. If you or the parent you are shopping for are planning to stay home or have a nanny or in-home care, and/or if you/she will likely use formula at some point, I would recommend this set! Avent bottles generally are really awesome, and these are no different in terms of the basics. The one thing we added just to make them a little easier to hold was adding a rubber name label around them. The individual covers and ability to change flow rates are great as she can grow with them. The set also comes with an insert to reduce air intake but our daughter has never had an issue with that so we did not need that. The travel case with 3 individual measured formula spots is a must have. I wish we had this much sooner. We would strongly recommend this as a baby shower gift or new expecting mother. We found our daughter fairly picky when it came to bottles but she liked these although she did not take to the pacifier. I also plan on using the plastic formula dispenser for snacks on the go, as we are not a formula family, but the dispenser looks extremely durable. I love the glass bottles from Avent and am so gratefully that this company makes a glass option! I absolutely love the short glass bottles. They are a great, durable glass and they work well with the avent hand pump, which is a super big plus. The tops and bottles are leak proof, and I feel total peace of mind storing and warming up breast milk in the glass bottles. My son is able to easily transition between the bottles and breastfeeding. The included cleaning brush works well for scrubbing the bottles and cleaning the inside of the nipples. I would only buy this set for a family that was considering formula as a feeding option. As a strictly nursing mama, I was unable to use the tall bottles or the formula dispenser, and having extra unusable stuff isn&rsquo;t ideal. Unfortunately, despite my best efforts my son also never took to the included pacifiers. I absolutely love the kit, the glass bottles were a hit with my baby. I have always wondered if I would be able to use the kit. My baby latched on so easily, so perfect I didn&rsquo;t struggle. She is still able to switch to breastfeeding with ease. This is a great product for us. I highly recommend the Philips AVENT Natural kit. Especially if you want to do both (breastfeeding &amp; formula). They were not kidding about the ultra soft nipples. The kit also included the bottle brush that cleans perfect because of its brush shape. The brush dries quickly and I know it won&rsquo;t get stinky or moldy. My baby is also a paci lover, so we are attached to the two pacifiers the kit includes. One paci for the crib the other for her car seat. The powdered formula dispenser came in handy when we have our outings and it&rsquo;s easy to clean. The only con I have is the kit didn&rsquo;t include a silicone sleeve for any size bottle like other brands have. It would make me feel good, especially with the bigger bottles. Several years ago, I began reading about the harmful effects of plastics on human health, specifically that chemicals added to plastics can leach into our food and beverages. I eliminated plastics from my kitchen over time, switching to glass and stainless steel food storage containers. In recent years, I have also become concerned about what I am putting in and on my body. When I became pregnant, I was determined to find an eco-friendly alternative to the plastic baby bottles (and feeding dishes/utensils when the time came) that saturated the market. The Philips Avent glass bottles fit the bill. It was always my intention to nurse (and use bottles when Baby was at daycare or I had to be away from him). However, after numerous failed coaching sessions with lactation consultants and nurses both in the hospital and once we had returned home, I decided that the stress of nursing (for both Baby and Mama) was getting in the way of our bonding during feeds and that fed is best. My son is now exclusively bottle fed (combination of breast milk and formula) and we both LOVE the Philips Avent glass bottles (needless to say he took to these bottles effortlessly). I was given this Philips Avent Newborn Glass Gift Set as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel. The Philips Avent glass bottles have many features which makes them ideal for my exclusively bottle fed baby. I love that I can feed my son without any worries of harmful chemicals leaching into his milk. The wide neck makes filling and cleaning the bottles a breeze (this is critical for any sleep-deprived new parent). The ergonomic shape of the bottle ensures my comfort during feeds. Since the bottles are glass, they are heavier than their plastic counterparts and a little more difficult for Baby to hold on his own. But it&rsquo;s a small compromise to make to get rid of plastic (and totally worth it!). I love that the set comes with both 4 ounce bottles with newborn flow nipples and 8 ounce bottles with slow flow nipples...a registry MUST! The set is also perfect for a shower gift because it contains everything new parents need to feed and soothe baby. He didn't like the nipple, but this could be because he has a high palate. He was also not fond of the pacifier. I've found that you have to try a few pacifiers before you find one that works for your child. I loved the bottle brush and the container to put formula in. We won't be using for formula but probably for snacks! I also noticed that when we placed these bottles in our bottle warmer, they retained a little bit of water and the hot water leaked out when I tipped the bottle to test the milk- not good. Maybe a user error? We really liked the glass bottles and the fact that it minimized plastic exposures. The bottle brush that came with the set was well designed and made cleaning very easy. The little formula carrier was nice but we ended up not using it since we mostly feed breast milk with only occasional supplementation. My son had already gotten hooked on another brand of pacifiers by the time we got this set so I can't comment on those since he wasn't interested. My one complaint, which really is just inherent to the materials used, is that the glass bottles are heavier than plastic. Something to keep in mind if you will be carrying back and forth to daycare on public transit or once baby starts wanting to hold their own bottles. I think if you were stuck on what to give for a shower, this would be a nice catch-all gift that's sure to be appreciated. My baby is primarily breast fed but we supplement with pumped breast milk once or twice a day using these bottles. Most importantly, I love that they are glass and only have three pieces. This makes them very easy to clean. I am also easily able to pump directly into the bottle using my Spectra pump. By baby has had no problem transitioning to these bottles from the Playtex bottles we used prior. Thankfully, we have not had any problems with nipple confusion. I only use the smaller 4-oz bottles with the newborn nipples. The 9-oz bottles with slow flow nipples are a bit big and heavy for our needs and a little too fast of a flow for my kiddo. My baby has trouble holding onto the bigger bottles to feed herself but can hold the smaller ones easily in her hands. However, the larger bottles would probably be good for babies that drink larger amounts of formula at a time. Overall, I would highly recommend these bottles. The set also comes with pacifiers. We haven't used the pacifiers at all but they seem to be of good quality. They are easy to clean, and the glass construction is good for those of us concerned about toxins in plastic baby bottles. My breastfed baby immediately took to the nipple shape, which is wider and flatter than a traditional bottle nipple (and more like the shape of a human nipple). The material of the nipple also seems to be more flexible than other bottle nipples I&rsquo;ve seen. Soothies were the only type of pacifier my baby liked during the short time he was using a pacifier. Similar to the design of the Avent bottle nipples, the Soothie pacifier mimics the shape and texture of a human nipple, which is why I think babies tend to prefer the Soothie. I also like the formula container that came with this set. Although I don&rsquo;t use formula, I fill this container with snacks like puffs and cheerios and carry it in my diaper bag. I would give this bottle set as a baby shower gift for sure. It was important to me to use glass with my son, because even though plastic bottles are now BPA free, who knows what we will find out in the future about the ingredients that are being used in plastic instead of BPA. We know that glass does not attach itself to the milk in the bottle. I was not expecting to use bottles with my baby as early as I did, and unfortunately only had plastic bottles that he was comfortable taking, and that was the Philips Avent plastic bottles. Having the glass option with the same nipple on top gives me greater comfort in bottle feeding him. I used primarily breast milk with some supplementation of formula early on, and I am way more comfortable heating up a glass bottle in the bottle warmer than plastic. I even have a glass baby-food puree machine as well. It was important to me to use glass bottles and I think these are a great choice- they are thick glass, which makes them a little heavy, but the contoured shape make them comfortable to hold. The nipple is soft and clearly labeled with the flow level (1 for the smaller 4oz bottles and 2 for the larger 8oz bottles). I didn&rsquo;t have an issue with my daughter taking the bottles the first time I tried them. However, I didn&rsquo;t use them for a period of time and when I tried again, she would not take them. I didn&rsquo;t have the opportunity to have someone else feed her though, and some babies will not take bottles from their mother, so I am not certain that the bottle itself had anything to do with her refusal. The bottles were easy to clean with the included brush, which I found handy. The set also includes two pacifiers, both the plastic and silicone orthodontic sort. I would have liked to see one Soothie (the all silicone pacifiers generally used by hospitals) included instead of two of the same, as that is all my daughter would take. All in all, I found this gift set to be a quality product that would be a great baby shower gift (it is gender neutral even- the pacifiers are clear plastic)! Pros: &gt; THEY ARE GLASS! Which I love because I can boil the bottles and take them from cold to hot without worrying about any chemical leaching from the plastic. The piece of mind that gives me is invaluable. &gt; The glass is heavy and durable. I have dropped them and my baby has thrown them and they have not broken. It also comes with a couple bottle protectors that also serve as hand protectors if the bottle is hot to the touch. &gt; The nipples are very soft and flexible. My baby is also breastfed and she hasn't suffered from any nipple confusion switching between breast and bottle with these. &gt; They are very easy to clean with the same system as Avent plastic bottles. They only have three pieces including the nipple and they are really easy to take apart/put together. My baby has used these since birth and hasn't had any issues with swallowing too much air. &gt; The Soothie pacifiers are the same ones we received in the hospital and we really like them. They are hollow so they are easy to clean. They are also very durable.
