Convenient and useful!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These nipple shields are a great little tool tk have handy, if needed. My 5 day old newborn unfortunately began to damage my nipples in the first few nursing sessions in the hospital. I was grateful to have packed these in my hospital bag, just in case. The carrying/sterilizing case is incredibly convenient - I didn't think to sterilize them before packing, but the case made it so my husband could walk down the hall and stick them in the microwave with some water.
The nipple shields definitely gave my nipples a little break so they were able to begin healing. Latching with these wasn't a problem, although I do not want my daughter to rely on them 100% so we still do majority of nursing sessions without these and just use them as needed for a break on my nipples.
My favorite part about these shields are definitely the convenience - the carrying case is great for packing and cleaning. Makes life a whole lot easier!
Thanks Stellar Product Testing Panel for the opportunity to try and review these nipple shields. They're now on my breastfeeding journey must-haves list!

Great product!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was given this nipple shields to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. My baby had no issues with latching on to the shields and seems to do well with it. She is 4 weeks old and has a little tongue tie. I have a pretty strong let down so we struggle alot in the beginning of our nursing sessions. I do feel that these shields help alot with the let down flow so she isn't choking and gulping too much at once. It feels really comfortable on for me. I only wish they were in color... I seem to lose it whenever I set it down for a minute or if it falls off! I like how the storage case doubles as a little sterilizer. Small enough it fits in my pocket book and diaper bag. Overall a great product and would recommend to any mom!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These Philips avent nipple shields made breastfeeding a bit less painful for me. My babe had a lip and tongue tie revision and she is still trying to learn how to nurse correctly. She tends to suck hard and these shields saved my nipple from experiencing any trauma. They fit well and my baby didn't seem to notice a difference when latching. I like the carrying case as well, it makes it super easy to pop in my bag for easier nursing if we're away from home. Overall I would recommend trying these, especially if you experience nipple pain during latching. Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing these for me to try out.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been trying different nipple shields and methods to help my baby nurse. I was happy to receive this from Stellar Product Testing Panel to try out. When I first received this I was surprised to see that 2 shields are included in this container that easily slip into a pocket in my diaperbag. I can quickly sterilize it in the microwave like this as well. To help my baby nurse, I put just a bit of milk inside the Avent nipple shield first to get her interested and then after several days of trying she finally latched! No pain for me and she was happy finally. The image is of one of the shields near my favorite nursing blanket that we use everyday. I hope we will get better with practice at nursing with the help of this shield.j

OK For Occasional Use
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Pros:
The carrying case - with other shields I never knew where to rest it while I was burping the baby or if I needed to go somewhere. So nice that this comes with a carrying case. Double win that it can be used to sterilize the sheild in the microwave by just adding a little water!!
Durability and Comfort - I like the material and feel. No issue with quality there.
Areas for improvement:
The shape - I felt like if my baby made any sudden moves while eating that the shield would lift off my skin. This creates a total milk mess. I am attributing this to the shape of the sheild. It could have also been that the nipple size was wrong. I did try securing it better with some lanolin cream, but it didn't help.
Overall:
I think the shield is great for occasional use. I primarily used it when my nipples were sore. However, I wouldn't have the patience to use it daily with all the lifting I experienced. Thank you to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for letting me try these nipple shields out.

Good shields and great case
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like these better than the shields I was using previously purchased per my lactations consultant's recommendation. Those had a correct top/bottom and I feel that just complicates things. These are shaped like a butterfly. I only wish the base of the shields were a little wider on the sides where the "wings" aren't present.
They stay on my breasts fine, and my baby doesn't seem to hate it. He doesn't really like it, but I find that all shields are kind of awkward for him. I use a size L 30mm flanges to pump, and these shields in the medium size fit (barely but it did).
I really like the case. One shield "sticks" to the top, and one to the bottom. I prefer this over stacking them inside the case. Sterilizing directions are clearly marked. Lid and bottom stay attached when you open it. I don't know how many times I've dropped the lid of my other shields while trying to open it with one hand.
I feel like every baby is different so it's hard to say what will work for each baby. But if you need breast shields, these are a solid option. And I'd also like to commend you, mama, for your efforts to breastfeed your baby. I know it's not easy.

If you're going to buy a nipple shield, choose this one
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nobody really wants to use a nipple shield. Generally, they are used if breastfeeding is having challenges. I received these shields as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I already had a shield from the hospital. I found myself reaching for these because of a few reasons: 1) there are TWO. Inevitably, I would drop one *just* out of reach or on the floor. Having a spare is so nice, especially if you're away from home! 2) It comes with a case. If you're planning to breast feed with a shield away from your home this is an essential feature.
As far as performance, I felt they were about the same as other breast shields I tried. Definitely helped my baby latch without further damaging my nipple but no better or worse than other types I have tried.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel, I received the Philips Avent Nipple Shields With Storage Case, 2Pk, Medium to test. My son is 4 months old. I wasn't previously using nipple shields while nursing, as I didn't realize the benefits. I now make sure I have one sitting where I nurse him at all times, and I love the case to easily throw in my purse if we are out and about.
I was very surprised by how well he latched the first time using the shields, it was as if nothing changed for him. For me, it is weightless but so much more comfortable than the occasional times he would pull and yank while nursing or while cluster feeding.
I am very impressed and highly recommend using the Philips Avent Nipple Shields if you are nursing at all!

Nice Idea
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We received these nipple shields to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I was really excited to try them, I've only used one other brand and style of shield with my other babies (they all had tongue ties). I was most excited about the shape allowing for more skin contact, but unfortunately the shape is probably what kept these from working for us. After my baby latched, instead of the shield staying on my breast it would flop onto her face, covering her cheeks. It didn't seem to bother her very much while nursing but she is at the age where she likes to stop and smile or chat every few swallows, and having the shield stuck to her cheeks made that more difficult and very messy. Instead of the shield sticking to me and collecting the drips during her breaks, it would come completely off, so then I would have to reposition it multiple times and my belly was drenched with milk.
The Philips Avent shield did help reduce the pain of nursing, but not anymore than the shield I was using previously.
I do like the case. It is very handy for carrying the shield in the diaper bag, and to have a place to put it at home that will help keep it away from my toddler's sticky fingers. I also like that you can use the case to sterilize the shield in your microwave, and the directions are etched into the case so you always know how to use it.
In summary, a great design idea that didn't work too well for us, but hopefully works for others.

Easy to use and helped prevent further pain during nursing
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had my third baby 2 months ago and have used all sorts of products to help me nurse comfortably. I have scar tissue on my nipples from major nursing issues with my first baby so getting into a comfortable nursing groove with my younger two has been an issue. I used the Philips Avent Nipple Shields to help teach my baby how to get a good latch without the pain that comes with the learning process. With a little practice my baby was able to latch on easily and I was able to keep her on for a much longer time because I was protected from direct contact. After using the shield for a few months I am now able to nurse without it most days and it has not been an issue with the transition. I love the carrying case that is included because I take the shield with me when we go out and it's nice to have a specific place for it that keeps it clean and not smashed. They are easy to clean and sanitize with the case. Overall I am very happy with these shields and would recommend to a friend. I was given this nipple shields to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel.

Hands-free, comfortable nursing!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m a mama with an 18-month-old toddler and a two-month-old infant. This is my second breastfeeding journey and I am no stranger to sore and occasionally cracked nipples. I was recently selected to test and review Philips Avent Nipple Shields with Storage Case, 2Pk, Medium, SCF153/03 by the Stellar Product Testing Panel.
Having in the past been encouraged to “nurse through the pain” without product aids, I was pleasantly surprised how effective these nipple shields were for my baby to use. Upon our first use of these shields, I noticed several positive aspects regarding his latch: 1). he stayed latched to my breast longer, 2). he lost his latch less frequently if I moved or he fidgeted, and 3). the shape of the nipple shield guard appeared easy for him to re-latch without much assistance from me. As a result of easy latching and more continuous latching, he also seemed less gassy after, a win for both of us!
I’ve used these shields for two weeks now and have noticed several other benefits. My baby chokes less during feeds with this product - the shields seem to give him a more manageable and steady flow, allowing milk to pool in the bottom of the shield on the onset of letdown to be taken in as soon as he is ready. I am also able to have a near hands-free nursing session, which allows me to nurse my baby while also turning pages of a book for my toddler or helping her with a snack. I’ve used these shields during “prime time” nursing sessions, when both children are awake and needing attention. Having one hand free again has made these nursing sessions less contentious and mostly tear-free!
The shields are made from a flexible material and are comfortable on both nipples. I have one nipple that is shaped slightly different from the other and my baby feeds differently from one as a result. The shields fit both nipples well. They are also small enough that my baby’s nose still rests against my breast.
I also love how easy they are to clean! The microwaveable compact case is a parent’s dream, as I can pop the shields in the case and then in the microwave after use and they are disinfected in three minutes for the next nursing session. No more finding time for hand washing or waiting for the dishwasher cycle to complete, though these are also cleaning options for this product.
This product has a few drawbacks as well. A secure seal to the nipple is difficult to maintain for the whole nursing session, and one side of the shield inevitably ends up sticking to the side of my baby’s face. While this isn’t uncomfortable for him, if there is extra milk pooled in the bottom of the nipple’s end, it has on occasion leaked out the bottom onto both of us. The instructions were also complicated and lengthy to read through, but I found it was worth reading these twice for a successful first try.
Overall I love the flexibility this product has given me, allowing me take care of both my children simultaneously during nursing sessions. I love having an easy-to-use option for when my nipples are sore or cracked and I need the space these shields provide. I received these nipple shields from the Stellar Product Testing Panel and am so thankful to have been selected to review this product for other parents. As a result of my positive experience, I recently purchased an additional set as a baby shower gift for a first time mama and I hope she’ll benefit from these as well!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really wanted to like these nipple shields. I have a chronic plugged duct that is extremely painful to nurse from on one side. I'd used nipple shields in the past and thought these may help. Thanks to Stellar Reviews for allowing me an opportunity to try them. These are strong and well made, they fit well over the nipple and conform to the body.
Unfortunately, they didn't work for my baby. She is 6.5 months old and nearly exclusively breastfed, so I think she mistook them for a bottle nipple and bit on them rather hard. They seem like they may work well for babies that are younger and/or more accustomed to using a bottle, but because my baby kept biting them, they didn't work for us.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was having a real hard time breastfeeding prior to trying out these nipple shields that I received from the stellar product testing panel. They not only helped my baby latch, but also allowed my cracked nipples some much needed healing. They were definitely comfortable and allowed me to get through a whole session with my baby. good features but hard to use
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] At two weeks into breastfeeding my second, the allure of finding something to give my nipples a bit of a break coincided with getting these nipple shields via the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I was excited to try them out, but unfortunately, these have a bit of a learning curve that this sleep deprived mom didn't want to mess with.
The sterilizing case made getting these ready to use easy peasy. The thin silicone was light and easy to manipulate and I liked that they were designed to provide skin contact with baby while using them.
I read the instructions included with the shields, but could not figure out how to get the to fit snugly enough that baby could get much milk out. I have overactive letdown and oversupply, so he still got some, but it wasn't very efficient - if you're dealing with supply issues this would likely be more of an issue.
They DID protect my nipples well (no pain at all!) and baby didn't object to the size/texture/increased challenge of getting milk to flow, but in the end, the hassle of using them wasn't offset by the increase in comfort for me. YMMV.
