However, because the moveable end is too deep to fit behind the knob the too horizontal pieces slide off our knobs easily. I thought our knobs were typical. When I received my sample, I noticed that it's exactly the same as the other cabinet locks I'd already purchased. We like that the locks don't require any real installation before they're ready for use, you simply press both buttons to release the latch and slide it out. Fortunately, the latch/lock stays on the longer end of the slides so there's no chance of separating the two and losing a piece. It also slides back on easily whether or not you use the buttons, like a zip tie. It's very secure and childproof, as you need to press and hold both buttons to release, and the strength you need to do so strikes just the right balance between childproof and adultproof. The slides are also just flexible enough in case you need to fit them in/over an oddly shaped handle, such as a refrigerator handle. We also like that you can remove these without any trace left when your child is old enough to stay out of cabinets. No glue or tape residue, screw holes, etc. However, I recommend you check your cabinet handle style and spacing before buying these. Specifically, if you have knobs rather than the closed handles, you might find that you can twist off the entire lock if it's not at it's tightest setting. We also felt that the two ends of the slide are still too sharp, and could cause some harm to a toddler if they were to run into it at the right angle (it's also around face height for toddlers, scary!). Note that like many cabinet locks, you need two hands to operate this one (free hands are a luxury when parenting!). This product would be better if it was just a little longer to accommodate larger cupboard knob distance as was as being able to tighten better on fancier knobs.
