The car seat installed fairly quickly but was tricky at points. While it is secured in the car, it's not as snug as my Graco car seat in my wife's car, which is really the only reason its not 5 stars. I really like the magnetic harness and the cushioning is really nice. The first trip my kid was in the car seat was a 6 hour car ride in which he slept a majority of it. Thank you Everslim! My baby is currently 5 months old and he doesn't need too much neck support, so it works great for us, but I am not sure if the reclining level (5) would be ideal for a newborn. The other car seat that I have and used from day one is a lot more reclined than this one. Other than that I love that it's all in one and the quality seems to be very good so far. I had a little bit of a tough time installing but the instructions are very clear and helpful. I have owned multiple types and brands of car seats, but this is the first Safety 1st brand car seat I've used and the first &quot;all-in-one&quot; car seat type that I've owned. The directions and manual seem fairly well organized and user friendly, depending on the age/size of child and mode you are using this seat for. However the manual is only in English that I have seen. The installation was rather straightforward&mdash;very similar to other convertible car seats and high back booster seats I have installed both by latch and seatbelt methods, but I have had a lot of experience carefully installing car seats properly for the past 10 years. The construction on this car seat seems very sound; it is rigid, heavy and feels very sturdy like car seats I've had in higher price points. The main body/torso protector has layers of padding that can be removed for older children, but is not made of or covered in foam itself&mdash;it is just the seat covering over the hard plastic. The plastic side wings do curve out a ways to protect the child's torso. The main portion of the headrest is also covered hard plastic, not foam, but has more cushion in the cover than the body torso protector. The tag says 100% polyurethane material. It seems like there is enough cushion overall to make this a comfortable riding seat. However, from a safety standpoint I don't see labels like side impact tested or extra energy absorbing foam, like I have seen on competitors of similar or higher price point car seats. I had no problem installing this seat in my Honda Odyssey either forward or rear facing but it does take a little time to get it correctly installed (like any car seat does). I had just switched him out of his infant seat into the Evenflo Everykid convertible car seat when I received the EverSlim All-in-One Convertible Car Seat in the mail thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I was not enjoying the Evenflo seat, so it was a very welcome surprise to receive the EverSlim seat. The EverSlim was easy and quick to install, and I am looking forward to having a seat that will &quot;grow&quot; with my child. The headrest and straps are easily raised with one hand, which is a feature I didn't even know I needed until I had it. It saves a few much needed moments when you have an impatient child waiting to be buckled in. It can also be easily transitioned to a backless booster with the use of one hand, so I am looking forward to using this feature when the time comes. The seat has a slim design, which is helpful because I have another car seat installed for my older son as well, so there is extra room in the middle for another person or car seat if I ever need to add another. My favorite feature is the magnetic chest clip. It snaps together so fast! I also like that one of the cup holders has a snack-friendly top (the top can also be removed to use as a regular cup holder), so this will help keep snacks contained while we are driving. My least favorite part is the lap buckle, as it is a little hard to get to and buckle/unbuckle. The EverSlim appears to be a little wider than what it's name entails,&nbsp;but that's because of all of the&nbsp;memory foam padding! The EverSlim is actually just about 2 inches slimmer than our previous car seat! The EverSlim has much thicker padding for the shoulder straps, near the buckle, and headspace. A newborn, and even older child, would be cradled and comfortable in this car seat. With one hand, you can adjust the angle and headrest, making adjustments a breeze. Given this, I can definitely see this car seat &quot;growing&quot; with my child. I am impressed with the one-handed booster conversion feature! We currently have this seat installed in a &quot;captain&quot; style chair in our van, so I am unsure how &quot;slim&quot; it would really be if two were to be side-by-side in a back seat. However, as mentioned earlier, I imagine it would work well due to the fact the seat is 18.1 inches wide. If the padding is &quot;too much,&quot; it can easily be removed for comfort or for washing purposes. The material seems to be easily wipeable should there be a spill. As a mom, some of the features I appreciate is the colored safety mechanism on the chest clip. It actually clicks in place with a magnet and turns green to let you know it is secure. My three-year-old has figured out how to unbuckle her previous car seat's chest clip. With the EverSlim chest clip, you actually have to pinch the chest clip to unlock it, but LIFT as opposed to slide it apart to unlock. This took a little getting used to, but it's probably a good thing as it makes it harder for the child to unbuckle themselves. I haven't really found any &quot;cons&quot;. The one thing I might change if I could would be the snack cup. Although it's dishwasher safe, realistically, I won't be loading this on and off of the car seat. I would prefer to have two cup holders. This carseat definitely fits the bill for both front and back and side to side square footage. The carseat is able to recline more than other carseats we've tried, which is fantastic for toddler napping! This also helps prevent some of the dreaded (yet, safe when toddlers!) head slump. I do find that the amount of recline does affect how far back the upfront passenger can recline, however. I really appreciated the ease of set up and installation. The one handed conversion and how easy it is to change settings is great. My daughter finds the seat comfortable, but I do wish there was a little more cushioning. We haven't gone on any long trips yet and I wonder how she will feel in it after an hour of driving. My favorite features are the center clip and seatbelt release. With a squirmy toddler it can sometimes be a challenge to get the center clip fastened when she first gets in. This clip seems to be magnetic and just attached so easily before fastening! I love it! I do not doubt the safety of this carseat at all, and I am impressed (and surprised) by its features. In the lower priced car seats, I feel like strap covers are forgotten about. I mean heck, even the graco ones. That is Graco's biggest downfall in my opinion and Safety 1st just came in so elegantly with this car seat. Like, I got you. Some reviews said the install was hard, but I disagree. I did install with the seat belt, both forward and rearfacing (I got two seats to match in our truck). The seats secured snug. I couldn't move them almost. They don't tip up or back or move improperly. They look nice and neat. My kids seem comfortable in them. I will say, I have one rearfaced and reclined all of the way, and it is a bit more of a &quot;drop&quot; to put my 1yo in the seat than I'm used to with my graco or peg perego seats. But it's just something to get used to. I love that the booster option leaves a little like hook where I can get the straps out of the way before getting the kids in. There is no recline feature for forward facing. So I would say that's the only downfall I've noticed. My 2yo sleeps better when she's reclined a bit, which is a nice feature of graco over this seat, but honestly the bigger padded shoulder straps is more important because I makes her more comfortable. Anywho, I was skeptical of safety 1st because they are so inexpensive, and everything else is soooo expensive. But I think it's a great seat. And I am so thankful that I could get 2 seats (on sale) for the price of 1 when we needed to get my 1yo out of her infant carrier. Oh! I also LOVE that they are slimfit, without compromising the actual seat width. I have chunky babies and their butts fit well in the seat. Plenty of room, but they can be side by side in our Chevy Silverado. We previously were using another Safety 1st model, and this one is a nice step up. The material is very nice with plush padding that gives it a luxury look (and comes off easily for washing). I love the magnetic chest strap, it's much faster to snap together than the manual style. The shoulder straps release and pull forward effortlessly (vs the wrestling match I had acclimated to with the other seat). I was initially perplexed by how to adjust the height of the shoulder straps, and had to read through the manual to figure it out. Turns out you simply raise the headrest and the straps come with. SO easy and adaptable, great feature. In terms of it being &quot;slim&quot;, it does not take up noticeably less room in the car, maybe only an inch narrower than our other seat. It's still uncomfortable to squeeze two adults plus the car seat in the second row of our 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan.
