The diameter of the straws are a bit larger than your average straw so take this into account if you have a particular cup/lid in mind that you would like to use this with. Since the straws are silicone I can squeeze the straw to fit into the lids if necessary. I've also used these straws with drink lids from fast food places and they work really well. Washing has been fine, even hand washing. As suggested, you can squeeze the straw and roll it between your fingers to help dislodge or remove any stains that might be inside.
