We found the bedrail to be sturdy, durable and nicely designed. We only use it to secure the top half of our bed and the rail extends to about halfway down the bed. Have not tried the &lsquo;swing down&rsquo; feature. Something about the instructions were a bit &lsquo;off&rsquo; but overall fairly easy to assemble. Will likely require two people to put rails in place when lifting the mattress. It was very easy to put together. It looks good and is very sturdy. His bed doesn&rsquo;t have a boxspring so I had to balance it on the wood boards but once the mattress went down it wedged it in well and it&rsquo;s sturdy. Initially we purchased 2 separate swing down rails, and that did not work with our bed frame. We have an ikea bed frame that has slats under the mattress, and not a box spring. The other rails were not secure in place and we couldn&rsquo;t lower the mattress into the bed frame because the rails were too wide. The summer infant double rail is exactly what we needed. We don&rsquo;t use the swing down feature with how we have it set up, but that hasn&rsquo;t caused any problems.
