This Hello, Hippo phone! Is soft on the back side but hard plastic on the front (it’s not soft all over the “phone” like I thought it would be. The front does have a softer textured rubber edge and soft squishy rubber buttons. The face and belly are the hard parts.
I like that this is a good size for little uncoordinated hands and especially that it can be strapped on to something so it isn’t dropped or thrown on the floor.
There are six interactive buttons on the toy: the mouth which plays feelings phrases, the hippo’s “heart”, and four “phone” buttons. Each plays sound effects and songs such as phone sounds or twinkle twinkle little star. The buttons also light up different colors so it provides visual stimulation.
This toy takes 3 AAA batteries (included). There is no volume control but fortunately it isn’t super loud.
Babies are pretty smart blobs and they know that this isn’t the same thing as mom and dad’s coveted phone but this is a fun toy anyway. This is a good value and would make a nice gift.</span>

The volume is great it is not too loud and not overwhelming. The design is great because the whole outside is soft and plush. It also has a strap to fasten the toy to something. Overall its a great size, soft and entertaining for the babies.</span>

She was intrigued as soon as she saw it in the packaging. Packaging was very informative with all the details about what to expect for little hands to explore. Soon as it was out of the package she started pressing buttons and dancing along with the music. As little ones press each button they will learn their numbers 1-4. It also plays cute little melodies when they press the buttons for the second time. Great starter phone for little hands to learn and explore. You really can’t go wrong when purchasing VTech products and we love VTech products!!</span>
