It's spill proof when put together correctly. Initially the cup would squirt beverage out upon opening but I didn&rsquo;t notice this happening after a few uses. The lid is tight and hasn&rsquo;t spilled. The lid that covers the straw is tight and my 3yo can&rsquo;t open it. That&rsquo;s great to keep the state clean but also not so great since my child gets frustrated.
