When i received the Ameda breast pump, it came with 4 valves. I have been breastfeeding for 4 months and so far only 2 of the valves have gotten damaged. When a valve is damaged, the breast pump does not work properly. I personally think Ameda breast pump valves are fragile and tear easily. I have a double breast pump, and prefer to pump both breasts at the same time. When i had only 2 valves left, i was very cautious washing the vales. I purchased 4 more valves for relief of being able to pump both breasts at once (having spares) and in hopes that they will last me the remaining 8 months i plan on continuing to breastfeed... If not i will be purchasing more of this product. I was a little disappointed to find that Ameda valves cannot be purchased separately in stores... Due to the fact that i prefer to &quot;kill two birds with one stone&quot;. If i were only to have 2 valves and one of them got damaged, i would have to pump one breast at a time, and spend double the amount of time spent on pumping. It would be nice to be able to purchase this product at the store versus having to wait for the shipment to arrive. When surfing the web, i found less than a $0.50 difference in the price on several sites. I received the product i purchased in good condition and within a timely manner (within the estimated time of arrival on the tracking e-mail sent to me. It's a light-weight pump that I am able to carry it back-and-forth to work without difficulty. Thankfully the my local Babies-R-Us store sells replacement parts. I've used my pump for 6 months and just now needed to replace a valve after one of them split on the end. I find that the valves are hard to remove from the pump to clean. The instructions state to pull on the valve at the thickest part, which I find difficult to do and usually end up pulling on the ends because I can't get a grip on the thickest part of the valve.
