This thermometer is just as the name suggests, precise. Giving the caregiver the ability to adjust for the age of the user takes the mental load off of wondering what the normal temperature range should be. A quick response with a convenient colour system (red, yellow and green) enables a quick reaction time for both parties. While using it on my three month old the quick response allowed me to get the results I needed without any fuss. This also defeated my three year old who resists thermometers and gave me the relief I needed. This is by far the best thermometer I have ever used for speed, accuracy, and size. The Braun Digital Stick Thermometer indicates age precision, meaning that I can select the age of individual I intend taking temperature of. The ages run through zero month to 36+ months, so it is useful to both babies and grown ups. In my case, i mostly use it for my 6month old who is currently teething. It helps me monitor any possibility of a fever as a result. It also has a colour indicator which quickly notifies me of an abnormal temperature reading for the particular age I pre-selected. It is portable but pretty exposed as it does not come with a pouch or a bag. As my infant becomes more active and aware, it seems more of a challenge to keep her still while taking readings but thankfully, it takes about 30seconds to get a reading. I have been able to manage so far. I simply wipe the tip with clean wipes and place it right under my baby's arm against her skin and select her age to take a reading. So far, i have not had a reason to closely checl for prescision of reading as she has not had a fever nor has anyone else needed it. So, I will recommend it to any parent who wants something possible to carry around easily to help check baby's temperature. A couple of things however that cause a bit of a nuisance while using. When you turn on the thermometer, you always have to select the age: 0-3, 3-36 or 36+ months. As my kids are over 36+ it would be nice that it would stay at that age instead of having to select the age each time you turn it on and use it. Another issue I had was that the protective cap to cover the tip is loose and always comes off. Doesn't click in and always falls off when you put it away. If it is normal the backlit display turns green, if mild fever turns yellow, and if temperature yields a high fever, turns red. Easy to read. The first thing I noticed about the Braun Age Precision digital thermometer is that there are only 2 buttons. This thermometer is incredibly simple to use. Simply turn it on, then select the age range of the person you are using the thermometer on. Then you are good to go. The display numbers are rather large, which I really like. There is no straining to read the number. I've also found that this thermometer is really fast! I typically get a reading in 4 or 5 seconds. That is amazing because most of the time my child doesn't want to sit still when I am trying to take her temperature. The thermometer does give a long beep when the temperature reading is complete. I find that can be jarring sometimes for my child. A second or 2 after the temperature is complete, the screen will light up either green to tell you there is no fever, yellow for a fever or red for a high fever. The colors are helpful because I'm not having to google what is considered a fever at which age. The thermometer will also turn itself off after a short time (if the user forgets to do it.) Another helpful feature is when you turn the thermometer back on, it will display the last temperature reading for a few seconds. I also really like that the battery area is properly secured. There are only 2 things I would change about this thermometer. The first is that the storage cap doesn't click on. It doesnt stay in place. Not a deal breaker, but I wouldn't be as worried about losing the cap if it clicked into place while I stored it. The other thing is I wish the thermometer remembered the age selection when you turn it on. Not a huge deal, but I'm using this for my child the majority of the time, so if it defaulted to the last setting I used, that would be helpful. (Although I can see why they set it up this way, people could forget to change the setting if they aren't prompted each time.) Overall I'm really liking this thermometer. I'm finding the temperature readings are consistently accurate. You can select the age you or the person that will have the temperature checked so the product can say if the temperature is good or not by color (green, yellow, red). The box was not made in a easy way to me to take the thermometer out. It comes with instructions and a top to close the product. I turned on with one button and at the screen I could see the ages (0-3, 3-36, 36+ months) and when my age showed at the screen I pressed the person button to set. After it, I put the thermometer under my arms and it checked my temperature very fast, less than 30 seconds. I am impressed with the product quality. Do not buy</span> <span itemprop="description">Very inaccurate. I would take my baby's temperature rectally and it would say 38.4, check again a minute later its 37.9, check again its 37.2! Always a different value. It was giving false fevers. My baby was only 2.5 months old and I got a fever reading so I had to take her to the emergency room according to telehealth because of her age. She seemed completely fine, no symptoms. At the hospital they had to catheterize her to get a urine sample because a newborn can have a UTI and the only symptom is a fever. Sample was negative. We were told that she probably has a cold. I kept monitoring her temp and would get random fevers even though she looked fine. I would check again and it would be gone. Ended up buying a $10 safety first thermometer and I always got a normal temperature and when I would recheck the temperature it didn't fluctuate.
