<span itemprop="description">Let me start by saying that I’ve never used a manual breast pump (other than the Haakaa) so I have no other to compare this to. I found this breast pump to be easy to use. It was comfortable and works well for a manual pump. I enjoy being able to pump directly into a bottle that can be used to feed later. However, it has so many parts to take apart, clean, and put back together. I much prefer my electric pump with less parts to wash and put back together. I will likely use it when I need to travel since it’s more compact and easy to use on the go than an electric pump.</span>

<span itemprop="description">To begin with I was struggling with my baby not latching so I was looking for a good manual breast pump. I got to try this one and I’m in love with it. It is really easy to use, you can easily take apart and clean/sanitize. Pretty simple to put together. I love the fact that it has two pumping modes, which makes pumping very comfortable for me. I usually start with the slow motion to stimulate and the switch to the faster to imitate baby’s suction. I like the silicon shield, it is super soft and perfect for my nipple size. In the kit you also get an anti-colic bottle which is going to help to protect your baby’s tummy. You can also store your milk in the same bottle because it provides with a storage cap.</span>

<span itemprop="description">I received this pump for free to try and review. All statements are honest and 100% My own opinion. I have used it for almost a month and I Love it! This is the first manual pump I have used and I honestly like it better than my spectra 2 electric pump. The flexible silicone flange make a world of difference especially since as we know our Breast aren’t all one size one shape all the time. If I need to help massage the last bit out I am able to unlike with the hard plastic flanges. I also have not had any irritation with these flanges even with the proper sized hard plastics ones I have elastic nipples so they will always touch the sides no matter what and sometimes would get irritated I thankful didn’t have any issues with these. the pump is easy to use one handed and has the ability to better control the suction and speed in my opinion than my electric pump which has actually increased my output I was only pumping 4 oz each breast with my electric now with the manual soft shield I am getting 5+ oz each time! Plus this is super easy to clean no hidden parts or spaces to miss and it’s super compact and portable. I throw it in my diaper bag any time I’m out (which isn’t a lot these days as 2020 has us at home pretty much all of the time) but to have with me is very nice. I’ve only used it once on the go but it was super convenient and I was glad I had it otherwise I would have been full and hurting for over an hour. Overall I would highly recommend this for anyone who chooses to pump it’s convenient, easy to use and clean, and most importantly comfortable. Again although I was sent this product for free to try all statements 100% are honest and my own opinion!</span>

I liked to use it while the baby was nursing on one side, and found that it also helped promote let downs faster. The included bottle makes it a great value as well as the silicone shield is the most comfortable I have ever felt. I think that changing the settings from let down to expression mode was very intuitive and easy to do one handed (which you often are with a manual pump).</span>

-Silicon shield feels nicer than hard plastic.
-Love the duckbill valve design! It has a plastic tag that you pull to remove it versus pulling the valve itself.
-I thought it would be tricky to switch from letdown mode to expression mode, but it was easy and seamless.
-Very strong suction!
Cons
-Many components to disassemble and wash.
-Even though suction is strong, it's difficult to mimic a gentler 'suck' and my milk did not flow as well as it does with my Spectra electric pump.
-This manual pump is good for on-the-go or ad hoc pumping, but I wouldn't want it to be my primary pumping option.</span>

Confusing let down vs mechanism. Took me several times playing around with pump to understand how to switch in between modes.
Hand got a little tired from pumping, but I assume that’s the same for all manual pumps. Found myself holding bottom of bottle with one hand and using the other to pump out milk.
Pumped for 10 minutes on each side and ended up with 5 oz.
Will use again. Hoping the let down/ pump mechanism knob doesn’t fall off; the top part started to loosen as a tried to figure out how to switch in between modes.</span>

<span itemprop="description">This hand pump is great! It honestly has amazing suction that helped trigger my let down very well. I have tried 4 or 5 other different hand pumps and I had better let down with this one. The silicone shields are also so much more comfortable on your breasts. The only reason this isn't a 5 out of 5 review is because I personally had issues with the way the shields attach to the pump. My milk kept collecting in the groves where the parts meet. That stuff is liquid gold so every count drops.</span>

In my opinion, I'd use this one as a backup or secondary pump. I do like how it incorporates 2 pumping modes, although I, personally, never needed that with my other manual. However, I felt that the pieces were all so much bigger and the whole pump was just bigger and clunkier. It was too cumbersome to carry around the house.</span>

<span itemprop="description">This hand pump is so good. I can get 5 oz in like 5 minutes. It's the only pump I really like to use even over these hospital grade ones. Only down side is it is hard to switch from let down and expression mode. This is totally worth it and a must buy.</span>

<span itemprop="description">This product would have been perfect with the exact flange size or an insert. I am between sizes, so did not find the pump comfortable enough to use on a regular basis. The silicone flanges are a great feature and it was very easy to change from let down to expression modes.</span>

Thank you for your inquiry. The Dr. Brown's Manual Breast Pump is designed to use with the Dr. Brown's wide neck options+ bottle. The medela bottles would not be compatible.
