It has fun music, lights to keep baby interested, and it's colorful. The only concern I have is that the little silicone drumstick that is attached was easily chewed up by my teething baby. The inner part is hard plastic, so no concern for the safety of that piece, but with the silicone being so easily chewed up, it could possibly present a potential for swallowing those pieces if you're not watching closely enough. If you plan on supervising your baby and playing along with this toy, it's great. She absolutely loves it. She sings and dances along. I would recommend this to anyone whose child loves to play with musically inclined toys. It's sturdy and provides good entertainment. There is no set-up needed and it's easy to clean. I love all wooden toys but am also a fan of the nicely made plastic ones as well for safety reasons. This is a perfect combo of both features and is very cute. My 18 month old thought it was fun but quickly gave up the wand because the xylophone has trouble noticing the bangs and fails to play each note. She loved the musical variety and improvised playing it more like a piano in the free play mode. I let my 4 year old play it and she liked the other mode where you follow along with the notes played. She thought it was lots of fun but also found the rubber stick to be touchy and hard to use. We have a classic xylophone and this does not compare even though it is fun as well. He uses it all the time. As a parent I can say I love how there are two sound levels! I also love how it makes my 3 year old use his creativity by creating his own music or by following the light up keys to play popular classical tunes. I really love how it is constructed out of wood and plastic. It is super sturdy! I also really enjoy how when each key is pressed it will light up in that color. My sons favorite thing to do is make a &quot;rainbow&quot; by swiping the mallet across all the colors. This toy would be great for babies as well.
